DDA Chapter 14

No one will cook. Elin's wine business and Robyn and Amy's cake business is going to floruish SO WELL that we can pay for hired help. For cooking, cleaning and the yard work.

You are completely right there, Chanon! Why didn't I think of that before?? :flower3:

I meant in real life.....actually I'd just love to live on an even keel and out of this pit.

Well, Theresa, here's a hug for you!

So, anyone have any ideas on how I could afford to take advantage of the 3nights at the Swolphin I just won on another list? The tricky part...the dates are locked in at Nov 11-14. Yup, next week. I can totally picture the part of how to handle being down there without spending a lot - maybe the Christmas party, DTD, Ft Wilderness, resorts, etc. It's the get there part that I just wouldn't be able to do cheaply enough I'm sure. Oh well, the dream was nice. Instead, I guess I'm going to hope that the big news at 5pm is so good that I can figure out a way to swing a birthday trip for me in May.

Talk about short notice! I hope you figure it out! :wizard:

Yesterday at the staff meeting our director (who took over Two's Time when I refused to do twice the work for the same pay) ever so sweetly said to me, "Beth, I really want to thank you. I am having the time of my life teaching that program. It is so fun!" I don't know if she really is that stupid/has such poor people skills or if it was an intentional slam. Either way, I resisted any not-so-nice urges I had.

"I am so happy to hear you are enjoying it." Pivot smartly on your heel, walk away. ;)

Jennifer - We eat WAY too much TS to consider the CS plan, so I haven't even looked at the details.

Airfare is on SALE! $165 ROUND TRIP! :scared1: But the dates are very limited and none of them are close enough together to really consider booking a trip. Looks like they are in cahoots with WDW on the "7 day minimum" train of thought. :headache:

so what do you all think of the quick service meal plan vs the dinning plan?

Well, Jennifer... since it is new and no one has had a chance to try it yet, I don't really have an opinion. I like Counter Service meals, but we also like Table Service for at least one meal a day. For that reason alone I don't think it would work so well for us. But for people who are happy with CS I think it ought to be a decent alternative to the DDP and the DDlxDP.

I had heard a few months ago that the airlines were going back to a pricing structure like it was when I was a kid to do just that...7 days or longer is better.

Beth-I wonder if she really is enjoying the class?? at least more than she thought she would when you left her no real choice. Bravo for keeping your tongue. :thumbsup2

What a bummer. No way to get it for like the same time next year?

The dates were just not in a configuration that would be easy to work with if you were looking at a Sunday - Saturday week, which is how our work and school weeks are structured. I was looking to see about maybe a Thursday night through Tuesday morning but that wasn't happening.

What was funny was I got the alert from one of my "fare watching" systems and it was ALL of the airlines - American, Airtran, Northwest, etc. offering DFW to MCO for $165. The flights were disappearing at lightning speed though.

does anyone know where I can buy those small square styrofoam coolers....I need one now

Dh used to tell me that, too, but he (and the rest of us) have survived very well! Of course, there is only one girl here...

Thank goodness my sister and niece moved out. That surely would have pushed him over the edge. 6 girls:eek:

Exactly!!:thumbsup2

I wish there was a way for you to work that out.

OH! I am glad you all liked it! :goodvibes

That is good to know. I have changed one of our reservations to a HI Express partly because it is $12 less a night!

I think the wine will become a staple in our new wine rack when we get it. Like I said, wine is quite my thing but I could have a glass every night very easily.

We got the HIExpress by chance. I booked it on Priceline and paid only $39+taxes for the night.

I know, honey.

Here's another . Just keep that thought in your mind and you'll get there.

Well, Theresa, here's a hug for you!

Beth, I love Elizabeth's advice.

Jennifer - I'm mad at you.

There is NO WAY that 15 seconds of video satisfies your faithful blog readers . :teeth:

:rotfl: Love the giggles!!!

:rotfl: Ok, but if all of a sudden on an adorable video popped me in my pajamas, you'd be less than thrilled! :rolleyes1

I'll try to get more that aren't first thing in the morning or late at night! ;)

I usually have a bottle in my wine rack too, Robyn!

I was just going to come on here and ask how lucky people had been with Priceline! There is a resort at Daytona Beach that looks really nice. Bob and I could stay there our second night out from Virginia and have a very easy drive to WDW the next morning. And we could have a lovely view in the morning while we eat breakfast as well as take a walk on the beach. It is not horribly expensive, but would love to get it cheaper. I know lots of people get exactly what they are looking for on Priceline so I wondered if anyone had any pointers!

I will have to try their others as well.

That is the only time I used Priceline, so I really don't know how well it works all the time. I bid something like $30/night and it told me to up my bid by $9 and it would go through. I know I couldn't guarantee which hotel we'd get, just the rating- 2,3 or 4 stars.

Elin, I've seen mentioned before about a site that walks you through the nuances of Priceline, as well as stores information on what hotels typically come up on Priceline in various geographic areas, how to do your best to bid so you get the hotel you want, etc. The URL has something to do with better bidding, or something along those lines. I'll see if I can Google it.

ETA: the site is http:// bidding for travel . y u k u . com that I was thinking of (get rid of the extra spaces, since it wants to block the site). However, there are a lot of sites and forums with advice out there if you just Google!

Unfortunately, not. It was a flash donation thing to raise money for Give Kids the World. Swan/Dolphin donated a 3 night stay for those dates only for every 20 donations. We ended up with enough donations that they gave away 9 stays. The rooms are transferrable so they'll just draw between those who can go if anyone doesn't use thier rooms.

I figure I'll talk to Phil about checking Priceline tonight just on the off chance that I can get something good. Otherwise, I'll just pass it on to someone else.

thanks, MIA Friend! :goodvibes

Hi everyone,

I hope you've had a good last couple of weeks, and great Halloweens! I'll have to go back to look for pics of cute DDA kiddos, as I'm sure there are plenty. :goodvibes

We actually took a whirlwind trip to DL last Thurs-Sun. Jonathan had a business meeting out in Anaheim all last week, and I flew out Thursday to join him. While overall we had a good time (a day in any Disney park beats a day at home!), I must say we were a bit underwhelmed with DL this time around, which was so disappointing. :guilty: There just seemed to be really unhappy, almost downright rude CMs everywhere we went, which just left a bad taste in our mouth. The parks were all decked out for Halloween, though, and we still managed to enjoy things, for the most part (other than that horrendous football game UT played Sat. night!). We got to ride TSMM for the first time, and oh my gosh, that ride is amazing!!!! I think it might be our new favorite. The CA queue for TSMM is nothing special, so we're looking forward to seeing it in FL. We only got to ride 3 times over the 4 days, as amazingly, it was not a FP attraction, and lines were long unless you rode 1st thing when the park opened.

We also met Tink! But Pixie Hollow in DL is pretty much all outdoors, and is not so fun in the rain.

Needless to say, we were homesick for WDW, and it made us really anxious for our Dec. trip. They did, however, have these AMAZING pumpkin muffins at the bakeries in DL, which we consumed every morning. I bought an AP for the hotel and other discounts, and have since found the recipe for these amazing creations on the DL AP website! I'll pull it off of there and post it here, as these were some of the best pumpkin products I've ever tasted. I'm thinking they would be a perfect Thanksgiving breakfast. :goodvibes

How is everyone else doing? I see there is interest in this awesome colossal deal Disney is supposed to be releasing in a few mere hours. ;)
