That is very true...I will try that tonight & see how she responds...tough one for me as I am not a "talk about your feelings" kinda gal. I was brought up to "just get on with it" so I will do my best. Thanks Kristine!

Anne Marie is some of my management course we were taught to listen then turn the conversation around to avoid confrontation. Listen then respond with when "we" do this is makes you feel... That type of thing. It is just turning the information around without saying anything new, but it is effective.

I saw this t-shirt on another board and thought I really wish I had one of those embroidery sewing machines! The appliqué is downloaded to the machine and it will place it onto your fabric. The person who made this also had downloaded the Disney font to her machine.

She posted a link to the company where she gets her appliqués and fonts... there are a ton of Mickey ones! Hey, Tom!! I'm just sayin' ...

Doesn't Paula have a machine like this?

Has anyone tried the buffet for dinner at Tusker House? Would this be an option for the August DDA meet? How about a late breakfast there, I know that is really good!

We have been impressed with the breakfast there. We haven't tried the dinner. Definitely something to consider!

It's a tough age...

my best advice is to acknowledge her....no matter what crazy, whiny, or even legitimate thing she says....if you say, "I can understand how/why you feel that way" followed up by a closing statement, it works wonders. I think this age feels we don't hear or understand them.

Whatever you do, don't tell her "FINE! Daddy will quit his job and we'll stay here! Is that what you want?" That's what my parents said to me when I said I didn't want to move before my sophomore year. Let her know that you will miss your friends, your job at TDS, etc. Also tell her the things you are looking forward to in NC.

I hope the transition goes smoothly for her When we moved(it was only once & I was going into 6th grade, thank goodness), my worry was making new friends & fitting in. I was very shy, but it all worked out & I made lot's of new friends with memories that will be with me forever

We also moved when iwas in 6th grade, Joe in 5th..it was so scary at first, but we adjusted pretty quickly

Believe me, I have been looking at those applique sewing machines. Too bad they are usually in the hundreds of dollars! I do have a few friends from the disboards that have them. They are usually willing to help out if needed!

I figured there were people out there who would do this for others. This is usually such a nice place to be. I figured I would just try to enable you, Tom! With one of these machines and your talents you could go into business... we keep telling you that.

Morning everyone-
Its 7 here, but 9 at home so im wide awake. I cant believe I forgot to tell you this yesterday, but i was drained---my family, yet again, needs some prayers.

My mom was supposed to pick me up after work to take me to the airport and instead my uncle was there. My mom got a call that grandma was being taken to the hospital. (this is my grandma that was married to my grandpa that died last november). They think she may be having heart failure or soemthing so they wanted to do tests.

I asked if i should stay home and they said no so i came here...they are still running tests and she stayed at the hospital over night. Im just really scared being so far away. I know this is a rough month for her because this time last year, grandpa was still alive, but getting worse. Plus, she is at the same hospital grandpa was. So please keep grandma in your prayers

I had originally booked Hampton Inns for our drive to and from WDW next month. I noticed that if I book through MyPoints I can get points for booking Holiday Inn Express properties. We have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Does anyone have any comparisons between them and Hampton Inns or Courtyard Inns?

Our Spring Break is March 16-20, and DS's last day of school is June 3. Princess will be gone the first full week of June, but DS has exams every day so we absolutely can NOT take him out of school. We could go to WDW the afternoon of June 3 but we would have to come home June 7. So there again, if the deal only works for 7 night stays it wouldn't have any value for us.

We have no clue what's going on with vacation bids, and I don't know what DH is thinking in terms of his other week. DS has a 4 day weekend for MLK, but I don't get that as a holiday so it might be tricky for me to get time off. And it doesn't span 7 nights so the "deal" wouldn't apply.

I technically have 4 more vacation days, but I get SOOO much extra time off I would prefer not to use them unless there is an emergency with my mom. My bosses didn't count any of the days I used over the summer as vacation - they were just paid days off. I guess they maybe counted them as sick days since I have never called in sick.

Well my cousin is working today so i am spending the day with my uncle! i dont get to see him often (obviously!) so im excited. We are going to see my new baby cousin and meeting my aunt for lunch. I am not sure what we are doing tnoight when my cousin gets home but im excited. I just am glad I spent the money to get out here--i needed to get away!

So after discussing & discussing the move with the kids since mid summer, Katie is starting to give me grief about it. I think thats because she has gotten settled into her middle school. She has been (as Kristine likes to say) a real pill.

It is partly the age thing, but I agree that she is settled in and happy. Moving won't hurt her, but she will tell you over and over again that it is the end of her life. Tylenol Sinus works well for headaches, by the way.
