DDA Chapter 14

I made a huge mistake today. I had a headache and thought I took some ibuprophen, when actually it was Tylenol PM. Needless to say it ended in a 2 hour nap. It was tough staying awake through Colby's appt.

Chris' sister just called and his mother is in the ER again. Breathing issues. Due to her size and the fact that she smokes she is not in good health. I think they suspect pneumonia. They will call when they know more. His niece is also in the hospital. I guess she was admitted yesterday for migranes and a high white blood cell count. She is 19 years old.

Good thoughts for your MIL and niece! :wizard:

I forgot someone too-sorry. I am SO glad your days at work are numbered. You need to get out of there!

Hang in there, Theresa! Better days are coming! :wizard:

I feel so fat!!! I just keep gaining and gaining. Of course having birthday desserts every night is not helping. Hopefully I can turn over a new leaf tomorrow. I will be subbing in as the art teacher tomorrow morning. They wanted me for Thursday too, but I have that drug test.

I am sure you will get turned around soon!

That is because they are all in Mexico.;) :rotfl:  Seriously I had not seen any in a store until I was in Mexico and they were in more then one store.

Then again the same thing had happened with the WII. But they were all over Florida, when we were initially looking for one.

If you look enough you will find one Elizabeth. It may be when you are not looking for one, as that is what happened to me.

I am just not that dedicated to looking. I do need to look, though, because DS woiuld enjoy having Wii Fit.

Bernadette the doll clothes are cute!

Deb & Vicki I have gained as well. But that is how it has been for me my whole life, up & down. I love to eat & unfortunately it is the stuff that is not so good for us. So as my clothes get tighter I will gripe & grumble & finally one day I will say enough. This is so two sided for me, I love it when I am smaller but I hate that I have to watch everything I eat. On the other hand I get upset with myself when I gain, but at the same time I really enjoy the foods I am choosing to eat. I just haven't found a happy balance yet & at 46 years old I am not sure I ever will. So for me it will always be a battle.

Bernadette - The doll clothes are great! :thumbsup2

Janet - I am EXACTLY the same way. I want to be thinner but I don't want to watch every bite I take. :sad2:

So remember, fat bottom girls make the rockin' world go round! ;)

And just because it needs to be said...

Well my day has been interesting... I met with my local state representative an individual whom I didn't vote for in the recent election, but won none the less. So I figured I might want to sit down with him and discuss the conversations I had with his competitor about Cochlear Implants....

Sounds like a very productive meeting, Mac! I hope you see some positive results from it.

Chanon & Anne Marie this is what I am looking forward to our 1st night, I just love these!

Maybe I better bring sweats to wear home :rotfl:

YUM! I would love one of those right now.

I am really happy that they called me back. Hopefully they will be able to get through to her that if the swelling gets out of control they may not be able to fix it. She can't just go willy-nilly doing things that will hurt her arm and not ever consider the repercussions. :sad2:

I'm glad the doctor called. I hope they've got some good advice for your mom (that she'll listen too!).

Why on earth did I think it was Prince Adam?

That's the name that always pops up for me too. I think it came to be the standard sometime, but I have no idea how or when. His name is never said in the movie. I always tell Rachel that his name is Hugh since at the end she says "It's you" and in the breathlessness of the moment it almost sounds like "It's Hugh." Mainly, though, it's just cause she thinks I'm a nut for saying it and it's fun to drive her crazy. ;)

Oh for the love of Pete! I leave you all for a few months and what do I find today? FOOD! ...
The girls are doing well in school. Bethie is getting bigger everyday, she GH shots are working great. She will need to be on them for years as of know, but at least she is getting bigger and at the age of 5 not the size of a two year old anymore.

Ellie is singing her back side off and loving it. She group (dance/signers) are applying to perform at DL. We shall see how that goes.

Mark deploys for 5 months come the end of Jan and I am working at the school as a sub and at night at home depot. I get no sleep but that is only for a bit longer when mark leaves. Then I will only sub at the school.

I do hope all is well with you wonderful folks. Chat with you again when I can.

It's SOOO good to see you Paula! I can tell Bethie has grown just from those pictures. I'm so glad the GH therapy is helping. Good luck to Ellie's group getting in at DL. That would be so cool! We're headed to CA for Christmas and planning to sneak in a DL day as well despite the crowds. Where is Marc deploying to? My cousin is headed to Iraq in March.

Rees is really sick with a 103 fever. His eardrum burst this am and is draining really yucky fluid. I work tonight, but John is back from the funeral so I can go. I had antibiotic drops and oral antibiotics, so we started those. If he's still running a high fever tomorrow then I will take him to the doctor.

It has been a rough 2 nights at work. I have the sickest baby they said I'll ever care for. She is truly suffering and is in multi organ failure, but the mom won't take her off support. She nearly died last night, but pulled through. We were so hoping she would go. Please pray that she does soon so that she can finally be at peace. It is so difficult watching her struggle so badly. My heart aches.

I hope today finds Rees doing better. :grouphug: :wizard: I hope that they baby is at peace soon and wish the same for her mom and the nursing staff. :grouphug:

Hope Mom and Neice are doing okay and that neither is too serious.

Good morning, all! So I have no idea what happened to yesterday. I do know that I spent 75% of it sitting in my chair or laying on the couch. I just had no energy, no motivation and my stomach was not happy anytime I got up for more than a couple of minutes. The head cold junk was a little better, but apparently more junk decided to join it and knock me down for the day. Luckily, the baby still sleeps 80-90% of the time and Terra was pretty mellow herself from not feeling all that well. Today is a little better at least which is good as we are going to see a play in a little while. It is a collection of storybooks like If you Give a Pig a Pancake and Diary of a Worm. There are a few others, but those two are among Terra's most favorite books right now.

Deb, and everyone else, I'm with you on the feeling out of control on things. Somehow I have miraculously not gained anything back, but I sure haven't lost anything in at least 6 months and so far haven't felt up to trying much harder. I have been contemplating asking for a gym membership for Christmas. The affordable chain of clubs just opened a location really close to me and they have some good deals. I may have to try and get there for a test run in the next week or so to see what I think. Kristi's also been seeing what it would take to add me to her membership at Gold's as she has a really good rate.

Kristi called me yesterday to complain that her birthday present said that she was fat. I was a little confused until she said that she'd bought a Wii and WiiFit. I was just telling Phil the other day that I've never really wanted a gaming system until Wii. Now I guess I don't have to get one...I can just go use hers. See, I knew there were benefits to letting my sister get things first!

Tammi,
Glad the kids had fun. We have to get to Mt Vernon some day. Silly question but did you happen to notice if they sell George Washington costumes there? Dana wants to be GW for next Halloween at Disney. I am not going to be Martha as she was older than him & rather large!:lmao: Maybe Betsy Ross for me!
No, I didn't notice. But let me know if you ever want me to check for you.

And now I must find a way to extract myself from this chair (danged back...maybe we need a new computer chair for Christmas) and go get ready. Plus, Terra wants to play and was very understanding yesterday when I wasn't up for it. Catch ya later!

Here are some pictures from yesterday.

This is the Mansion, the main house. George moved here in 1754. The grounds are 200 acres. Flanking this house are all of the outbuildings, things like the kitchen, stable, wash house, smokehouse, outhouse, garderner house, and many more.

The rear of the house overlooks the Potomac River, and in the spring, summer and fall, it offers beautiful views.

The kitchen is there on the left, and the walkway connects to the mansion.

Washington's tomb. George and Marthas sarcophagus can be seen, and then in the rear enclosure are approx. 20 other family members.

What's the last picture Tammi? They look like stables or feeding stations, but can't figure out the circular building in the center.

Deb-I checked the mail this morning while I was getting Abi settled in (she has a sore throat that seems to be going through the schools) and was able to quickly see what the Brooks' sent her....she loved them, THANKS!!

I took this off of the internet.

Perhaps George Washington’s most innovative “tool” was a 16-sided barn he designed and had constructed at Dogue Run Farm. Wheat was traditionally threshed by hand with a flail, or it could be repeatedly trampled by horses on the bare ground to break the grain free. Washington’s innovative design greatly improved the process of treading the grain out of wheat. In the circular barn, horses and mules tread out the grain on the second floor. The grain then fell through 1 ½ inch gaps in the floor to the first floor where it was gathered, cleaned, and stored. It was a much more efficient and clean process than treading out of doors or using a flail to beat the grain out of the wheat by hand, and reduced damage to the wheat caused by what Washington termed “vicissitudes of weather.”

I am beyond ticked...I just saw the "proposal" by Miss Tattle Tale's assistant and there is no way in h e double hockey sticks she came up with that overnight. It's for a reduction in hours but almost a double jump in pay.

I say let them have her...it seems she will fit right in with the rest of them.

I am just deeply saddened that this stuff happens in a church. :sad1:

Sorry.

Theresa, a quote for you from Malachy McCourt:

"Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die."

I love that. It was in my signature for awhile.

Surprisingly, that is cool to me! I wondered why it was higher up than the other buildings for being near stables. Thanks!
