Well, I'm off to have lunch with my former boss, this should be interesting.

Catch ya later!!

Heidi, the pictures of the snow really are beautiful.

Deb - did you like T Rex? I've been hearing that its extremely loud - but really how was the food??

My thoughts on T-Rex...It needs improvement.

We waited in line for about 10 minutes just to put our name on the waitlist. We were told it would be an hour, but possibly quicker. They suggested we browse their gift shop and let the kids play in the dig area. Of course they do not have pagers so we were stuck within earshot, with no benches or anything to sit on. The digsite is very small and was packed wall to wall with kids. The gift shop was shoulder to shoulder too. They had lots of rocks and other dino related stuff for sale. They also had a build a dino area that is a build a bear sub franchise. We ended up purchasing a rock and using a hydrolic press the kids were able to break it open to find the geode inside. You have no idea what it will look like since it was created millions of years ago. Ours looked much like this:

Then we headed outside to find a piece of lawn to plant ourselves on. We waited and waited. Our hour mark came up so I ventured up to see how much longer. I was told 10 minutes. I let 20 minutes pass before venturing up again. At that point she told me it would be at least 20 minutes longer. Needless to say we weren't happy. Of course one guy that was heading in was nice enough to point out that McDonald's was next door if I didn't like it  At the 2 hour mark I went back to inquire yet again and the manager was standing there and told the hostess to put us in the que to be seated. After another 10 minutes we finally had a table. The animatronic dinosaurs are amazing. The whole decor is over the top prehistoric. We enjoyed the ambiance very much. It may have been loud, but It didn't bother us. I don't think I would have wanted to sit in the ice room though as the lighting changes colors, pretty to watch from a table nearby, but it might be too much to sit in the room. We walked around and took pictures of the dinos, but I don't have them loaded yet. The food was OK, nothing spectacular. I can't remember what I ordered other than I should have had plain mashed potatoes with it. The potatoes did not come out with my meal and by the time our waiter showed up it was at least 10 minutes later. He brought out my potato, but it was garlic mashed which I had told him I did not want. He took it away, but I was still charged for it as I had ordered it as a side. By that point I was so angry that I didn't even fight the charge. I was not impressed that we had to wait for 2 hours, without a seat, without even an apology. I was not impressed that the waitstaff did not know the product. Had they offered pagers which allowed us to walk around DD, doing a little shopping the whole point would be mute, I would have been much happier going in. We did have a nice turn of events the next day, but that will have to wait.

I give you credit for staying Deb...at the one hour mark I would've had a breakdown!! Total mismanagement to have someone wait 2 hours in my opinion!!

Speaking of breakdowns...Heidi, if we had weather like you this morning I think I would have fainted. I am sooooo not ready for the white stuff. I don't even want to say the word!! :rotfl:

While in the middle of typing my last post I received a phone call from MIL. Apparantely the boyfriend of 18 years that she just moved out on, has died. She was crying and didn't have many details. All that she knows is that he was coughing up blood last night, but wouldn't let anyone call the ambulance, when they checked on him at 6:30 am he was dead on the couch. I suspect that he drank himself to death as he has had liver problems in the past and he was told that if he didn't stop drinking he would kill himself. He stopped for many years before starting up again on his latest binge which is why she left him. I just hope he didn't OD on something other than alcohol as MIL will blame herself for leaving. We will head over tonight after Chris comes home to check on her.

Sad news...:sad2:

I hope you MIL won't blame herself Deb...that's too bad...

There is only ONE place that I would wait at least an hour and half maybe more and that is the Crab Trap in Ocean City, NJ. The food is to die for and it is well worth the wait. Stephanie and I took my sister and she was a little perplexed but when we got our food, she was hooked.

Thanks for the info Deb! Janet and I have been eyeing that place for our first night's dinner in December - though I think we might only eat there if we can find a seat at the bar since it's just the two of us for now...
I wish they had a comment card that you could have written down your experience on!

I hope your MIL will be ok.

Elizabeth. When I ran into Kmart today they had their summer clearance going on. I found a pair of Jeans for myself for $6. I didn't want to invest in larger sizes either, but for $6 I can be warm and comfy until I shed a few lbs. I also got a couple of belts and a pair of bermuda shorts for 99 cents each.

We don't have K-Mart. And I really don't want to buy bigger pants. Thanks, though! :)

Well, I'm off to have lunch with my former boss, this should be interesting.

Heidi, the pictures of the snow really are beautiful.

Have a nice lunch! :wizard:

I meant to quote the post about not waiting over an hour. Oops.

I don't think I would have waited 2 hours. I KNOW DH wouldn't have waited 2 hours. There are restaurants around here that have waits like that because they don't take any sort of call ahead or reservations. I avoid those places.

Wow! That's unfortunate! I hope MIL deals with it OK. :sad2:

I survived cooking. Today was mac & cheese, glazed carrots, and chocolate pudding cake with fresh whipped cream. Not that I tasted any of it because they only cook enough to serve the kids teeny little sample portions.
I have to say I have found the most shallow mom in the DFW metroplex. Guess who I am NOT going to be friends with?

She started off the class by saying she can't imagine why ANYONE would want to go to DL. OK, well, I sort of agree. It's too small to fill more than about 3 days. I told her that. She stared at me like I had 2 heads and said "Too SMALL? I don't even want to go for ONE day!" OK, don't go. :confused3

The kids went to their first station. She sat on a table and griped to another mom about how she doesn't like their neighbor. Seems last Halloween the neighbor offered her a juice box. SHE is a grown up! SHE doesn't drink JUICE! SHE was completely insulted because it was AFTER 5 PM! OK, you ungrateful alcoholic, maybe you should STAY HOME! I didn't hear if the neighbor actually INVITED her over or not, but I will tell you the neighbor came out WAAAY ahead on that deal. She then launched into a story about people she DOES find acceptable but I missed that because I was helping Princess with the activities.

Her child is pushy and rude. Her child is also obviously unsupervised A LOT. She (the DD) is currently sporting a haircut that makes Molly's recent hack job look like a salon cut. (If I hadn't ever met the mom I would think it was one of those things that happened when Mom turned her back, but I imagine Mom was guzzling down the wine while the DD spent quality time with the scissors.)

When the kids moved to their second station she went over to an unused table, plopped down, and started going through a magazine. She was making notes as she went. It is a PARENT/child class! Her kid was climbing on the table, not waiting for her turn, etc. and the mom never looked up from her very important Southern Living. I am sure she brags about all the activities she does WITH her child. :headache: She stayed in that exact spot until the kids were finished with their third station. She did manage to sit with her child when the food was served, but that was about it.

Deb, 2 hours wow! we would not have stayed. But of course that would be because we would have be thrown off property after John decked the rude guy.

I have a feeling your MIL is going to blame herself regardless.

Morning Stephanie, sorry you feel bad and that your DD is sick. Hope you both feel better soon. :wizard:

Unfourtantly its too. :sad2: I have posted a few pictures.
What ever happened to fall???? I remember growing up there was this season we'd call jacket weather. The pictures are beautiful. :goodvibes

I'm just glad you have the snow and not me!!!

Elizabeth, what is wrong with some people?

Stephanie, I think fall went the way of summer.

Deb and Chris,,,,,,,  :grouphug: :grouphug:

Just saw a candy recall in an email. According to snopes it is true:

http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/coins.asp
>
> HALLOWEEN CANDY RECALLED
>
> Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due
> to the fact that they contain Mel amine, the ingredient in milk product
> that has caused many infant deaths in china. These candies are sold at
> Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores. please make sure to
> check your children's Halloween candy and DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE
> COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil) and please let
> other parents know about this!

I am sorry so many DDA'ers are cold and espescially scared to see Heidi's snow:eek: . We have glorious weather here...crisp in the morning mid 60's to 70 in the afternoon. :thumbsup2

Deb-you had a ton of patience and there are a couple of restaurants I would have stuck around that long for IF they had been honest from the get go.

Anne Marie-I continue to pray for a quick and easy sale of your house.

Elizabeth-I wonder if that shallow one is one of my cousins:confused3 I find them both very shallow and both have DD's about princess' age.

Deb (and Chris)-

About a year ago I heard the term "tipping point" and had it explained to me.

I truly believe there are tipping points in all aspects of our lives. I had my tipping point at work back in February when I KNEW I couldn't keep working here and it gave me the kick in the pants to REALLY look for another job. While that job hasn't shown up yet, I have faith.

Unless something miraculous happens in my marriage it had it's tipping point yesterday. While I am legally still married (and probably will be until I can fund a divorce), I just can't even look at Jim. As I told him it was the small piece of the puzzle still missing and he put it there to finish it. It was not the tipping point I was hoping, praying for but it happened just the same.
