Steffy and Terry, one of the guys I work with in the NICU is going on the Mousefest cruise with you. His name is Ray Sharpton, and he is one of our Respiratory Therapists.

Are you doing any of the land meets? We aren't, but our park days are the same as Mousefest's schedule. We'll be in Epcot on Sat, Dec 13, MK on Sun Dec 14. Hope we get to meet (again for Terry!)!

OMG Denise,,,,Stephanie and I are riding with him from WDW to the Ship and then back. We are so excited because we are doing one meet called Capture the Magic and it looks to be a lot of fun. We cannot wait to meet Ray. He seems like such a nice person..:goodvibes

Ray is SUPER nice. I see him once a week (he only works weekends). I'll make sure to tell him we've met!

I hope I get to see you after the cruise! Is that meet the one for the kids at Epcot? I wanted to sign us up for it. On Sat we fly in at noon, have ADR's at 3pm at Coral Reef for the CP package, and then see the CP at 5:45.

Our church does a Christmas play that Emma really wanted to have a speaking part in. Well because practice falls at the exact same time as her Girl Scout meetings she can't have a speaking part. She does however get to sing in it and some of the kids have been picked to play the handbells. Since that practices on Tuesday nights she is going to do that and is very excited!!

While she was at the church I went up to her GS meeting to get all the stuff I needed for the Cookie Booth sale we are doing tonight. Please pray that I survive 3 hours in the cold with the girls, the first 1 1/2 of which I will be by myself with 4 or 5 girls! Oh and the most fun part~ I get to drive a full size, 9 passenger van that has all the cookies in it. The one mom has the cookies loaded up in it and since she lives on my street I get the fun job of driving it. She can't get there to later as she recently started a new job and can't ask for time off. I hate driving my mini van so I imagine driving this big of a van will not be fun at all.

I am off to work on Emma's costume a bit more. I am almost finished with it. :yay:

I am sure it is much warmer now then it will be in January and February when our girls will be out selling cookies.

Good luck, I hope that the sale goes well.

Congrats to Emma for the play.

Good morning, DDA! :confused3

I know it is afternoon, but it took me this long to get on here. I think the wireless card on my laptop has gone bad. I had to ferret out an ethernet cable and hook up that way. Anyone ever replace the wireless card? Any idea if it is difficult? Or do you think I need to take this thing into the shop and wait forever for it to be returned???

Before replacing it, do you have another computer that you can check to see if it is not connecting either? Are you sure the card is turned on? Often times mine is accidentally turned off.

In your network settings, try disabling it and then reconnect it.

Rather then replace the internal wireless card. I would buy either a USB wireless drive or a cardbus card. Something like this or this.

I have never installed a wireless card in a laptop. With my old laptop I used the cardbus style device. I have installed a wireless drive in my desktop that I built.

With the laptop you need to know exactly what device you need to replace what is in your computer. Depending on the age of the computer, you may have a hard time finding the correct wireless device. Depending on the laptop will determine exactly how easy it is to replace.

ETA: I see that you are mailing it away for repair.

Bob had a meeting yesterday at the East Coast corporate offices. Basically they were told that the commercial end of the company was fine until at least May 2009. That was a good thing to hear and he seemed in much better spirits.

He came home tonight with the news that 3 of his co-workers who do residential design... men who share the drafting tables and blueprints with him every single day were called in and let go. No warning. He is back to being morose and moody again. I hope we are the only ones who have to go through this. I don't wish this on anyone else. Especially you, my friends.

We personally know so many people who are suffering...even family. It is so sad....with no end in sight.

So if you can send good thoughts and prayers to my brother and his friends. They were in an accident. One of them is at the hospital, as they think he broke his arm or dislocated his shoulder.

They were driving through a green light and another car pulled out and hit them.

this one is at the MK and it is kinda like a scavenger hunt with pictures. Stephanie and I also belong to Tagrel and they are the ones who scheduled the Capture the Magic.

Here is the whole schedule

they are winging their way, Becky.

Becky, prayers for your brother and his friends! I hope they are all ok.

I guess I should share my news with my DDA friends. I couldn't post anything earlier since I was not allowed to tell ANYONE! I have been asked to take a promotion. Normally, it would mean moving to Lansing. I told them I can't move to Lansing anytime soon so I turned down their offer. They feel that it is so important for me to be in the job that they are willing to have me be in Lansing half time but still get the promotion. I'm already in Lansing almost 1/2 time (some months more, some months less) that I took the promotion. Well, actually it is an acting position with a required interview and they have to interview at least 3 people. It is possible that someone else will be better qualified (but not likely). I start in the new level on November 3 as the acting working out-of-class (which means I get a pay increase even during the acting period).

It was very hard to tell my team that I was moving up. They are the greatest team ever. They have been one of the main reasons I have been so successful. However, I feel I can do more for them (& others at their level) if I take this position. Several of them told me I have been the best boss they have ever had. And they are all 29 or older so we aren't talking about people who have only had one or two bosses. :lmao:

So after dinner we headed to Rockin' Bar D. I think the Leonard Brothers were still playing or had just finished up, as our dinner took awhile. David was Rockin' Bar D host and DJ Dan was playing the music this cruise. Both were on our previous September cruises. Tonight was Ice breaker games. Well they wanted teams of 5 up front so Stephen and I went up front.

The first game was threading a spoon, through all of your team members clothing. First round our team was first done. We had a pretty good strategy, but I am not sharing what it was. Second round was other teams, then they brought the winning teams up to compete. Our team won again. It was about this point that David realized that our team won with someone on crutches.

Next round was everyone got a balloon and they had to pop it on a chair. I participated in this round as well. This is easier said then done with a broken foot.

Last round I sat out, as it involved walking while holding a coin somewhere.;) There was a cas tmember team. I sat this game out.

After the fun games. DJ Dan played music till 2am. I was sitting, David came over and told me if I can play the games I should not let my crutches and sore foot prevent me from dancing or having a good time.:thumbsup2 Let's just say I had a blast and stayed out till the music stopped every night. I had cast members and other guests stopping me all over the place. Before the second day of the cruise I was dubbed party animal by some cast members. It was quite amusing.

I think lots of people thought I was going to spend my cruise sitting on my butt relaxing or in my room. I was out and about all over the ship. Got involved in lots of things.

When we headed back to the room, this is what greeted us. It was the first of many towel animals. I do not think we had a duplicate the entire cruise.

We headed to bed.

Monday, August 18, 2008 Sea Day

Today we got up and headed to The Buena Vista Theater at 10am for a presentation by John Rowe. He has created lots of art work for Disney. I would love to own a John Rowe original.

Here is a sampling of his work
DSC06866.jpg

He answered questions while he worked on his artwork. He actually uses an airbrush system for most of his work.

He was going to be creating throughout his few days on the ship, so you could get closer to see him work.

After the presentation, we headed up to Topsiders, for a quick late breakfast

After our breakfast, we headed to the Panama Canal Presentation by Capt. Ken Puckett in the WD theater

This presentation was very good and informational. I knew some of the information as I had read a bunch about the PC. But a lot was first stuff I did not know.

We stumbled upon John Rowe painting outside the WD theater

Vicki - Congratulations on the pending promotion! Sounds like a great opportunity for you and that they really want you in that position.

Elin - Phil went to Tufts dental school and it was located in the New Englad Medical Center. He says generally speaking they charged half of the market rate for the same procedures. I hope that Bob's mood lifts soon. It sounds like a really tought time for him at work right now even if his job is relatively safe for now.

Becky - I hope that your brother and his friends are doing okay.

Elin, I am so sorry Bob has so many co-workers being laid off. Let's hope things turn for the better and that everyone is able to find new positions soon! :wizard:

Oh, no! I hope the injuries are minor! Good thoughts for Steven and his friends! :wizard:

Congrats, Vicki! How exciting for you! I wish you much success in your new position! :goodvibes

DS and I just got home from the play. It was really good! I noticed the promos for "Lily's Purple Plastic Purse" up in the lobby. That production has a BUNCH of people who have been DS's instructors. Unfortunately DS wouldn't be caught dead at a performance like that, and Princess is scared, so I don't think I will get to see it.

I talked with DS's video production instructor - he was doing some of the techinical work tonight. I know DS prefers video production, but I would like for him to do some more stage work. I need to call on Monday and ask if he would be allowed to enroll in video production for the Spring even though he is technically past the age for that class. I also got the name of the guy who coordinates youth video production stuff for another community based organization so I will look into that. But of course I would love for DS to take more stage classes no matter what video stuff we can find. He loved the play, but he is put off by memorizing. In the past they have asked him to audition for roles in their actual plays (not just the little show they do at the end of the semester) but we have always had scheduling issues. I think if he did a big production he would be hooked.
