I've always known that Cassidy is like me personality wise....but last night she showed me just how much.

There is one particular freshman who could care less about marching band...so she said that she got so mad at him that she nearly told him to get off the field. I told her that it wasn't up to her...she said "I know and that's why I didn't, but I really, really wanted to mom". Just wait until she has the power

She will be a force to be reckoned with!

Elin - that is just horrible. Slimy, but probably nothing illegal was done. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with corportate America. Does the company have an HR department that she can deal with?

I'm a southern comfort girl. Yumm. I will also drink pretty much anything fruity. I don't like wine or beer. Maybe I've just never had the right wine

I just got off the phone with Kathrin. And now, instead of being worried for her I am angry for her.

Sounds like a way to get out of paying unemployment to top salaried employees to me. I hope she has a chance to think about this and do some research. It is just nasty, in my opinion.

Sadly it is the way it's done. I think it's beyond slimey.


One of the people I've gotten to know in the last 5 months here at work had something similar happen to her.
She got a beautiful huge gift basket with your the best all over it in the morning of Administrative Assistant's Day and at 5 she was let go in such a way that they actually do have to pay unemployment but still nasty. She has been out of work that long and has more experience than I do but also can't find a job because if I laugh at the wages they are trying to get away with paying people with my experience...imagine what her experience SHOULD be getting her paid.

Elin I agree that company is very slimy.

I just got off the phone with her again and there is even more slime than I knew (and the HR department is the slimiest of them all) but I need to wait to post anything else because everyone is going to kill me as it is!! Suffice it to say, they may have inadvertently done her a favor.

She is eligible for unemployment if she needs it too but the head hunter has two open positions to discuss with her this afternoon.

I just got off the phone with Kathrin. And now, instead of being worried for her I am angry for her.

She had done all the writing they needed done for the end of a publicity campaign and it had been approved by the president as ready for publication. Kathrin saw the final revisions with the handwritten kudos at the top of the pages of each one just as her boss called her in yesterday afternoon, almost at closing.

Her boss proceeds to tell her that they just don't feel that she is "meshing" with their team. She has not "brought what they thought they needed" to them. Kathrin said she found that a little funny because after she returned three weeks ago from the all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas as one of only two representatives of the company they had told her that she was the "face" they wanted to present to their buyers and how pleased they were that they had "meshed" so well! Her boss looked her in the eye and said, if I said that I meant personality-wise. We just think it would be better if we went a different direction from this point onward. To say she was floored is an understatement!

It gets better. They handed her a check for the week's work and one day of accrued vacation time. Told her they would send her a month's severance and pay her insurance for the month and then escorted her to her desk and out of the building. While this was going on the head of sales was doing the very same thing to their top salesman. They both hit the lobby at the same time. They hardly know one another but shared their stories. That poor man has two young kids at home.

Later on last night a few of Kathrin's friends from work took her out for drinks and to commiserate. One of them is in the position to know a lot about the financial affairs of the company. Seems that Kathrin made more money than anyone else in her department and so did the salesman. Hmmmmmm.....

the person I talked about in a previous post said she had an inkling she was on the way out so she not only left the building with her personal effects but with the contacts she has built a personal relationship with. Sometimes businesses cut their noses off to spite their face and it comes back to bite them in the hiney!

Art was fun and Colby did not want me to leave He is a bit attached today, I think it's the excitement. I also got gas for $2.98/gal then I saw it for $4.17 at several stations and $2.97 at one

I am now headed out to clean the car. I need every available space for luggage

Elin, that is terrible. A friend of ours was telling me how her DD was laid off (she sold advertising for a major newspaper) and it was the same deal - she was one of their top salespeople!

Dadboss just got back from a business trip. His company buys up other companies. He went to go look at a collection agency. He said they aren't making ANY money because they have all of these defaulted accounts to collect on but they aren't able to collect anything. How bad is the economy when a collection agency goes belly-up? He doesn't think his company will buy them.

When I was growing up the Ogre worked for Zales. They acquired Gordon's Jewelers in a hostile takeover and he thought it was HILARIOUS that all of their execs were locked out of the building, loaded on buses, and taken to another location where severance packages were handed out. Not so funny several years later when Zales laid him off. But he was a raging alcoholic, so I am sure he was a liability for the company. I am also willing to bet he thought since he had 20 years with the company he was untouchable, no matter how bad his performance was. Surprise!

I just go an e-mail telling us which teachers were let go from our school. Out of the 5 who are out - 3 quit, 1 was transferred, and 1 was laid off. We are getting 6 people transferred in - 4 teachers, one counselor, and one asst. principal. At the very beginning of the year our principal said we were short one administrator, and i know DS's counselor has been very stressed out only having 2 counselors for 1000 kids. The teachers were all 6th grade teachers, and none of them were DS's teachers from last year.

I hate that they had to do this, but at least our school wasn't really negatively impacted. I think filling the administrator and counselor slots was REALLY important because we are such a large campus. It is hard to run a school effectively when you are missing key people. I know in my middle school we had a principal, an asst. principal, a dean of girls and a dean of boys. Not sure how many students we had but I don't think it was 1000.

before the referendum was passed...the first thing slated to go was the music & art programs....then the gifted programs...well geez, I have musical & kids in the accelerated programs..
