DDA Chapter 12

Tammi - Sorry your XH is a bonehead, and sorry Nicholas' team lost today! Darth Vader sounds like a good costume! Kids around here would suffocate if they wore that. It was 93 degrees yesterday! When we were sitting in the carpool line waiting for DS yesterday I told DH it was hotter than it had been any other day. It's supposed to rain Monday but I don't know if things will cool off.

I worked a little bit on de-cluttering today. I went through my shoes, purses, and bed linens. I also weeded out the old phones and film cameras. Landline phones to Goodwill, still have to sort out what to do with the old cell phones. I *think* the library has a collection box for cell phones. First I need to make sure the memory is erased out of them. DH took the vaporizers to Goodwill.

My mom gave us an electric blanket a long time ago for Christmas. It is nice - dual controls, all that sort of thing. The problem is the cats have been on it and it is LOADED with cat hair. I washed it and it is still full of fur. The material is not something the fur will wash out of. I would have to pick the fur off one hair at a time with tweezers. NOT worth it! So now I can't decide what to do with it. We haven't used it on the bed for at least 5 years. I might just keep it to use on the couch in the winter. I would feel weird donating something covered in cat hair, and it is too good to throw away.
The weather here this week has been beautiful. In the 70's with crisp evenings. Perfect for autumn.

I know a couple cats who might need some extra hair. :rolleyes1

Use duct tape as a lint roller. wrap the tape around your hand a few times, sticky side out and it will grab the cat hair. I do this all the time. If there is alot it might take alot of tape, I guess you need to decide if it's worth it.

I know those cats, too, but I am too lazy to pick all the hair off the blanket.

I have some of those sticky roller things, but it would take FOREVER to get all the fur off both sides of a queen size blanket. I probably should have done that before I washed it because I think the fur was more localized before it went through the wash. Too late now. If I use it on the couch it will just get more fur on it, so no big deal.

I bought these "Honest Kids" brand organic juice pouches for DS. He said they are gross and he won't drink them. I just had one, and he is RIGHT! They ARE gross! And do you know why? They are only 6% juice! The rest of it is filtered water! I usually pay better attention to labels than that. :sad2: I know all the tricks about "juice drink" and "ades" and that sort of stuff, but this blew right past me. Now I need to make sure it says 100% organic juice.

Apparently the link to one of my TR photos was broken, so I fixed it. Since I don't want you all to have to go back and look for it, here is the sparkling vodka I had at the French Wine Kiosk:

It was absolutely scrumptious and the prettiest shade of pink!

Oh, that does look wonderful. Vodka (and then sparkling drinks!) is my favorite!

Elizabeth - Yuck!

Jen - not corny at all! I'm so excited FOR you! :yay:

Ok, I'm off to bed. I'm beyond tired, but just watched the best come-from-behind victory... hooray Bucks! They actually looked like a football team, for about 2 whole minutes!

'Night all!:goodvibes

DS loves that line in "The Breakfast Club" where the jock asks the freaky girl "What do you like to drink?" She says "Vodka." He says "When do you drink it?" She says "Whenever!" :rotfl2: :lmao:

OK, OK. So I don't really endorse high school kids drinking vodka, and I also don't endorse letting DS watch "The Breakfast Club", but it's still funny. :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 :yay:

It is very late for me, I need to get to bed soon. Kings Island tomorrow.

I have been working on a Make A Wish Big give for a set of quads. Patchwork skirts. THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHT PATCHES ALL TOGETHER!

Sorry, I didn't mean to yell that!

They are almost complete, I need to get these off. The family is almost at single digits before their trip!

Have a great night all!

Tom, you never cease to amaze me! :worship:

Sorry I don't have time to read. I'm at the BWI hotel computer. I left the laptop at home!!

We get on the 7:00 shuttle to get us to the airport. We should be checking in at OKW around 11:00. :dance3:

So far our trip has been wonderful. Terry, I like this hotel. It has a bar!!! We got drinks, took them back to the room and I rolled my hair and we watched SNL. Funny.

Okay, so the grandmas to Disney trip has offically begun. TTYL!!:dance3: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

You are so lucky that your 20 something daughter still has time to do things like this with Mom. I hope I have the same kind of relationship with my childrent when they are older.

I got the back yard done. Tomorrow afternoon I will worry about the front.

I have to do the whole yard today as I procrastinated and played yesterday. :rolleyes1

I have no doubt that you will have the same relationship with your kids, Tammi. You are nurturing it already!

Elin - your trip sounds like it was so relaxing! Some year I'm going to stow away with you. You really know how to do the F&WF right! I can't manage that with kids in tow!

Well, here's your chance... we booked the Bounceback offer that was in the room for October 2-8, 2009. No rooms available at BC, but we did get a room at BWI. I am hoping to change it to BC over the course of the next year.

We loved the Poly. We love AKL. Heck, we love almost every single WDW resort! But you cannot beat the convenience of the BC for F&W Festival! And if we are lucky enough to get a room there I will stretch my luck and request the same location we had last year: ground floor facing Epcot. We literally walked out our door and onto the International Gateway. It was perfect.

Today was crazy. After I got the lawn cut we went to Walmart for gifts (toys). While there the kids picked out their halloween costumes. Nicholas is Darth Vadar and Alyssa is a witch. I told her she doesn't need a costume to be a witch. I got the hairy eyeball for saying that. Came home and had a quick lunch. Then it was off to drop Alyssa at a birthday party. Nicholas' dad was SUPPOSED to come and get Nicholas, feed him dinner and then get him off to his football game, but evidently his truck broke down, or so he said. Sooooooo........Nicholas stayed with me. While Alyssa was at her party we got the van washed and stubbled upon a Fall Festival at a church nearby. We spotted the moonbounce from the roadway. Since we had some time to kill we stopped. They had horse rides, games, moonbounces, etc. Best of all EVERYTHING was free. Then we picked up Alyssa, rushed home to change and get stuff ready to head to the game. I swung through Burger King's drivethrough. The drive was not quite an hour to get to the game. I was afraid that it was going to be rather chilly but the temp was quite pleasant. The team that they played was really good. And the kids were big. We lost, 28-0.

Tomorrow both kids have a birthday party to go to, at the exact same times. Luckily I was able to get Nicholas a ride with another parent, so I can take Alyssa to her party. Her's is at the bowling alley, and Nicholas' is at Pizza Hut. It's a halloween bday party, so he gets to wear his new costume.

What a hectic day. If you ever need one of the kids transported ask me! I am out and about a lot and would be happy to help if I can.

Now, that seems like an excellent reason to shave your cats, Elizabeth... Have you ever considered doing that?

:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

We want pictures! What a lovely thing for you to do for that family, Tom.

Have fun today. I bet the weather is just perfect for a trip to Kings Island. I miss going there sometimes. We always thought it was nicer than Kings Dominion for some reason.
