DDA Chapter 12

Hooray! One less thing to worry about!!!

Alan wanted me to ask you, is there any kind of meat you don't like? He's planning our dutch oven dinner, and wants to know what you like/don't like. He'll do some kind of meat, potatoes, and cobbler. If we can find some good corn on the cob, we might do that as well.

I will eat most meat except corned beef...that stuff scares me. :scared:

Beth, I think you should move to somewhere like Oklahoma. Plenty of oil rigs, possibly windmills, probably Sonic. Princess likes Sonic, but the one near her house is notorious for just giving you whatever they have handy, regardless of what you order. Luckily the ones in the malls are usually more accurate.

DS is also fond of saying "It's hot in Topeka." It loses something after you hear it 879 times. I bought a birthday card for my cousin with "CSI Topeka" on it. The investigators are standing over a dead body saying "She died of boredom!" :rotfl2: NOT a place I would choose to live.

I moved my AAdvantage miles into DH's account so we can get that ticket booked. I am worried that if we don't book it NOW that there won't be anymore seats for purchase with miles. They have cut back on the number of Dallas to Orlando flights. Our beloved 6 AM flight is no more. :sad2: The earliest we can go is 7:45 AM. Funny thing is that 6 AM flight was always completely full.

Coming back the only flights we can get in the afternoon are noon or 5 PM. Aug. 17 just opened up for purchase yesterday or today, so it's not like we have been putting off booking! Anyway, now I have to wait for the miles I transferred to credit to DH's account. We put the ticket on hold so as long as the miles are there by Friday we will be fine. And maybe between now and Friday they will add more return flights. We shall see!

I should add that the transfer fee, plus the service fee, plus the booking fee, plus the luggage fee will be $220. That's what a normal ticket USED to cost. Now the tickets are $434 round trip. I will watch obsessively and see if they drop at all, but I am not feeling very hopeful.

Thank goodness you didn't scoop them up and give them away! :rotfl2:

I am thankful that it didn't make it to the first 3 bags that we did take a couple of days ago. :thumbsup2 Even with the thinning of clothes, the girls (Cassidy espescially) have enough to dress about 5 girls for a week.

Thank you, Beth! I agree that a SLR would be ideal, but I would need more lenses, etc. And truthfully, while I'm toting around 2 girls mostly by myself, it's not like I'd use the higher quality lenses and accessories on a regular basis, even if I could justify the expense. The S5 seems like a nice in-between... much nicer than a lot of other compact P&S cameras, with full manual modes which I really like (I'm "trying" to not always shoot in auto, but most of the time don't have the patience to mess with settings!), etc but much simplier and cost effective (for what I want) than an SLR. Hmm... I totally wasn't planning on making a decision today, but since the only one I can find is 2 hours away, and nobody is selling them online (except with price gauging, by smarter people than myself! ;)), I better act quickly. It doesn't appear Canon is replacing it with anything similar, either.

Hi, Chanon! What have you been up to today?
Right now watching football. Earlier I had my final fitting for my dress, than had to run over to Target, and Wallgreens and soon I have to run over to Blockbuster to return some movies I forgot to return. Last night was a bachlorette party - we went to Stir Crazy and then Bahama Breeze and then to a country bar and attempted to remember dances from 7 years ago that I haven't done in ages. I'm tired and want a nap. I only got 6 hours sleep and then Bob woke me up. Grrr.

my kodak is very similar to what you are saying the Canon does.

:sad2: awful, isn't it?

What camera do you have? I have a Fuji that has full manual modes, but it's not near as nice as the S5 IS. I love the 12x opitcal zoom! And the moveable LCD, hot shoe adapter, "super macro" capabilities (although I think that name sounds dumb :)), etc. It's definitely a newer, cooler version than mine, and I hear such great reviews about it!

grrrrrr is right. I hope you get everything done. I am off for the grocery store... finally!

I have a thing for Canons, but it's totally irrational, so that shouldn't even come into play. It does mean, though, that I can't do any comparisons for you, because I didn't look at any other similar cameras before I bought mine.

I wish that I had the hot shoe, but I bought the S3 right before the S5 came out. The price had dropped considerably with the S5 on the way. I use super macro a lot, and I really like the way this camera shoots macro/supermacro. The moveable LCD has come in very handy a couple of times, though I usually shoot through the viewfinder. The whole reason I bought the camera, though, was the 12x optical zoom. I love that!

Here are my first four shots on the camera that show the zoom.

This is my first "super macro" photo.

Actually, I would love everyone's help if you can!

I'm trying to figure out how I can word that the ring bearer pillow is from my grandma's communion dress which was mine as well and is now the ring bearer pillow. Whatever I come up with I feel like I'm writing a book.

Anyone? :teeth:

The ring bearer's pillow comes from the past. It was my Communion Dress made from my Grandma's Communion Dress.

Beth, loving your TR!
I really need to plan a vacation out West.

My family growing up did, and I still remember some of the things we did. We camped along the way, but I think I would opt for the hotels now!:goodvibes

I think there are a couple of people that I would love to meet out west too!;)

Would my family be some of them????? We'd love to meet you guys, too!

Beth, I agree with Tom. Absolutely loving your TR!!!

I will eat most meat except corned beef...that stuff scares me. :scared:

Alrighty then! It will either be chicken or ribs. I'll let him decide. He makes both dishes very yummy!!!

However, I'd bet that if you tried my Corned beef and Cabbage on St. Patty's day, you'd change your mind. Alan felt the same way about corned beef that you do, and now he's addicted to the stuff. That's why I only make it once a year!

I love the Cleveland Zoo! If you go back to the "real" Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, make time for the "real" zoo, too.

I'm enjoying your TR!

I never thought to put my TR right in this thread.

I spent some time in Cleveland a bunch of years ago, but never made it to the zoo. I loved the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame.

I put my TR in the thread last year too. I am not the best at remembering to keep checking all the different trip reports that I want to. So I decided others might have the same problem.

We got rid of our clutter, (of course it was upstairs in the crawl space) what didn't go at the yard sale, went to the Salvation Army. Now all that is up there are empty storage totes, Christmas stuff and 2 coolers.

My cousin sent me a large trash bag full of stuffed Disney animals, and told me if I didn't want any to do whatever with them. They will also be going to the Salvation Army, sometime this week.
