DDA Chapter 11

Terry - I see that Robyn must have been able to view your pictures, but I got one picture of your son and grandson and that was it... three times! Quite a slideshow. ;) Wonder why??

I only saw the one too but it was wonderful!!

Well, I am the proud holder of a resignation letter. We decided yesterday that I have at least enough opportunities that can be temporary to bring in about half of what I was making. Plus, Kristi's neighbor and I kept missing each other yesterday so hopefully I'll talk to her today. Plus, I put in emails to 4 other families. So, I am turning in a letter of resignation today. I hate that it's come to this, but I just don't see a choice. Thanks for all of your support everyone! It's been nice knowing I'm not just crazy in thinking things are amiss. :grouphug:

:wizard: that the right job is just around the bend.

Yes, its been extreamly cold. Have no need for the A/C at all and for the most part I keep all the doors and windows closed too.

Example: right now it is 58º, with an expected high of 70º
but will be partly cloudy all day, so it may never hit 70º
Also the humidity is only 53%
And if it is 58º now that means it was quite cold overnight.

Perfection!! It's still to humid to turn the air off here.

The house is relatively picked up and I delivered the kids to school. Poor Colby has been hauling his pencil cases, water bottle and paper work to and from school all week. No one has helped him learn what stays at school and what comes home :headache: I decided to go in this morning and try to explain that his pencil cases stay at school as does the water bottle. He needs to hand his folder to his teacher as apparently they don't look for it. The teacher said she asked for the paperwork yesterday, but he didn't give it to her. It's his first week in Kindergarten I'm not sure he even knew what she was talking about. I also showed him where and how to fill the water bottle. Hopefully he will come home with a much lighter backpack today.

I need to put the laundry in the dryer and run some errands. Chris already called to ask me to deliver his cell phone as he forgot it this morning. My 4th son ;)

I hope Colby's backpack is lighter today.

Amy - Cute, cute! Matty and Noah really do look alike! Alyssa resembles the boys, but she has more of her own face.

Deb - I hope Colby decides to leave some of his things at school!

After telling DS repeatedly that he HAS to use his locker this year they have announced that they don't have enough lockers and the kids will have to share. That is a recipe for disaster if I ever heard one. DS already struggles with organization. Sharing with someone else will give him double the amount of stuff to consider every time he opens the door! :headache: As of yesterday they weren't even allowing the kids to pay for lockers yet.

I sent cash for his PE uniform with him today. I am still not clear on the instrument rental. The bells he played last year were "beginner" bells, so that is NOT what we need this year. He can get a drum and bells from the school, but I can't figure out if we have to pay 2 fees. We have to buy mallets. I already told him we will buy a drum pad.

Hi, all!

I've been trying to read along...

CONGRATULATIONS, Jen! You will make a terrific teacher! Please do post a wish list. If I have anything I can pass along, I'd love to do so.

I've loved seeing all the first day of school photos, but I really am trying to stay in deep denial about how fast our first day is approaching.

Amy, those are adorable photos (as always!).

Glynis, I'm guessing Peanut is a boy from some of the posts that I saw. CONGRATULATIONS!

:bday: to all that I have missed!

Debbie, I'm hoping and praying that Gustav doesn't cause you any troubles.

Deb, I'm sorry that you had such lousy tippers. We don't eat out much (ok, almost never), but I've been trying to tip a little high when we do to help make up for the low tippers.

I seem to forget everything else that I was going to say...:wizard: to all that need it.

I have been adding borders, etc. to my PhotoPass photos. That gets old after a while, though. I need to go start dinner soon anyway.

I want to write a mini trip report for my trip out West and my WDW trip if I ever get the chance (and can even remember anything by then).

My CT scans were normal!!!! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, they cost me over $1300! :scared1: I think I'd rather head back to WDW on that kind of money. But it is good to know that everything is ok (even though I wasn't really ever concerned).

Be back later tonight or tomorrow!

Beth

Those pictures are just too cute!!!!

I think I'm coming down with the flu. I'm achy, my throat hurts and I'm cold. (Mind you, some windows are open, but I keep getting goosebumps and I still feel hot.) Dinner's in the crock pot, nothing special tonight. I should go do a load of clothes and clean the basement, but I'm not in the mood right now. That's what tomorrow is for. I'm too comfy on the couch (even with the chills) and Philadelphia is almost over, so I'm not going anywhere until then.

Oh no! I hope it's gone as quickly as it came. :wizard:

If you all could say a prayer for Kristen, a friend of mine from high school, I'd appreciate it. We lost touch after we both got married (her most recently, in 2006) and I just found out that her husband, Joel, has been battling lymphoma since January. He was set to undergo 'maintenance' chemo this fall (was in remission), but he had some awful symptoms the other day and went to the ED, only to find another large node/lesion. They didn't anticipate it recurring so quickly, but can't figure anything else that it could be. Needless to say, they're both pretty scared..:guilty:

Soccer practice tonight. Thankfully, Jake's coach moved practice from 5 to 5:30 -- that time was really pushing it for us. Now we might have time to get homework started. There is already a huge difference in the amount of homework from last year to this year for Andrew.

Have a good day everyone! :)

Wow 5pm is really early. We even have a hard time making 5:30

Good luck to Nicholas! Riley made it through his 1st game unscathed lol

Yay!! I hope he enjoys it!!

Can you believe that I'm starting to think about vacations for next summer already??? I really want to go to the beach for a week, since we haven't done that in years. But our trip to BCV was so wonderful that I would like to go back there as well. After this December trip, I have no idea when we would go back to WDW if we don't go in the summer. Nicholas will have SOLs in the spring, so that eliminates a spring trip. We may not go back until Dec. 09 if we don't go again in the summer.

Eric's parents asked us about taking Emma to Germany in May for Eric's mom's family reunion. Eric and I really are leaning towards letting her go because the airfare over there is about $1200/person. There is no way we can afford that for all of us, well we could fly over but not do anything.

You should see the lawns around here. Brown as brown can be.

I told Eric the other night that he needed to go bale all hay in our yard. It's so ugly.

 Thanks. I'm quite sure we aren't cutting edge either (ever)... so probably just "normal" like everyone else that chose the same names! We just apparently don't have the best timing! :rotfl:

I thought I was ahead of the game with Emma and then Friends went and named Ross and Rachel's baby Emma.

Check this out, it ranks names by the year. I love it!!
Top baby names

So I found out this morning that we'll be going to Chicago in a few weeks (see ticker :))! Kyle has been invited to present at a conference (the "regional" counterpart to a "state" one we're going to in October in Columbus), so we're tagging along! Gas, half of lodging (at least), parking, etc are paid for. The girls won't be too expensive, so it's just my meals for the most part that we're paying for! :yay: I'm SO excited, becuase I've been desperate to a) go anywhere :rotfl: and b) get back to Chicago. Kyle and I use to go a few times each year, and haven't been in probably close to 2 full years!

I have to get off though, and get some stuff done. I have a growing list of things to get caught up on around here, and I also just heard we'll be going out to dinner with one of Kyle's attendings tonight so that cuts into my afternoon/evening.

Have a wonderful day! :goodvibes

Sounds like a fun mini trip. Have fun tonight.

Well, I guess my little party is over for a while. I got the kids off to school, now I'm going to shower, and get Alan packed. He has to go to the memorial service for the 10 people from our home town that were killed last weekend. Not a fun trip, by any means. He'll be back tomorrow afternoon, just in time to freelance at a football game. Then, on Saturday, hopefully we'll get the boy's room painted!!!

:wizard: for Alan. Keeping those families in my thoughts.

Wow, it must be a busy day...no posts in 2 hours:confused3

Our new living room curtains showed up today. I'm not convinced that I like them yet. They are floral and we've always had solid color so it will take some getting used to. It seems to brighten up the room even though I've only got the slider one up so far. I had to make some adjustments to make them fit as well as installing a traverse rod. Now I need to buy new rods for the other windows as our current rods are too thick :headache: Then all of those curtains need to be shortened, but I haven't decided how short yet. That will be tomorrow's project since I need to leave for work in an hour.

Hope tonight is much better than last night.

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good day! :wave2:

I love all the back-to-school pictures you've been posting. The DDA kiddos are getting so big! :goodvibes

Jen, you are going to be an awesome teacher! Take one day at a time, and don't beat yourself up when you make little mistakes. The first year of teaching can be rough, but luckily, your students aren't so "worldly" that they can compare you to too many other teachers. Now, their parents on the other hand... :rotfl:

Debbie, thinking of you and hoping all bad weather stays far, far away!

Tia, I'm so relieved for you that you've decided to say goodbye to your current job. Better opportunities are definitely ahead!

We are headed to Huron in the morning, and we have a busy itinerary for the weekend. I suppose I should start packing, right Elizabeth? ;)

Take care DDA! :grouphug:

Enjoy your weekend away!!

I still haven't had a chance to sort through the hundreds of pictures taken at Matty's party, but here are a couple of Noah hanging out with his favorite twins. :goodvibes

IMG_1012.jpg
I love the way Noah looks like he is so excited to have not one but two cute girls at his side.

Think these babies are related?!! :goodvibes

Not at all! ;)

Amy - Cute, cute! Matty and Noah really do look alike! Alyssa resembles the boys, but she has more of her own face.

I hope the locker situation improves, that is insane that they have to share lockers.

Jen - WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo happy for you! I know that means we won't be seeing you much as you cram and super shop to get ready, but it's just so great! Congratulations! And pardon all of my exclamation points! I'm just so excited for you!! :upsidedow But, come on! No pic? I know you're Mom would be happy to take one just for us! Please......
Thanks---we'll think about the picture- but i doubt it;)

o that suonds great!!!

OH MY GOODNESS! I went to bed too early!!!! Congratulations, Jen!!!! I'm so excited for you!!!!!

I'll get those books off to you as soon as I can. PM me the best address, ok?

Jen - I'm going to agree with Amy! This could be a rough year, but you are so lucky that you are getting the most forgiving of students. They will love you if you show them some affection. Teach with that affection, and those students will do anything for you. Treat them with respect, and not just like little non-entities. Kids like to be treated as if you think they are smart.

You are going to be just fine. I know it!

:woohoo: :cool1:  :dance3: :cheer2: :hippie:

Now what do you need?

Jen-what do you need to start your classroom? I am betting if you put your list here we might be able to find you some of the things in our houses (I am more than happy to send you my "stuff" but I want to make sure it's stuff you can use).

You are going to be an awesome teacher!! You will be extra tired this first year but it will be so worth it!! (aren't you glad you got your tonsils out now??)

Excellent idea! Post your wish list, Jen!

Me too! :cloud9: Thanks, Theresa!

Thanks guys! I honestly have no idea what I need--the other teacher is making an order tonight for some dress up clothes, dolls, cars, books, puzles, and that type of stuff...you are all too sweet! Thanks for ALWAYS being there

Glynis,i ll PM you now!

Hi!! :yay: for normal scans.

Hi, Beth! I am so glad everything is OK!
Would love to read a trip report!!

Good thoughts for them! :wizard:

My mom had her 4th (and final) A/C infusion today. I need to call her.

Robyn - Your wish for an improved locker situation sure worked fast! DS just called and said they got lockers today and he does not have to share. He worked the lock several times and he says he is comfortable with it. I hope so!! He doesn't have any books yet. The science and math teacher have apparently told the kids their books will not go home except in special circumstances. If that's true then the math teacher might be copying sheets which would mean she does need paper. I'll think about it.

The kids have done nothing this entire week. DS tried to pay for his PE uniform with the cash today and the coach told him they aren't collecting the money yet. Well, Bonehead, WHY didn't you say something YESTERDAY when he tried to pay with the check? :headache: Silly.

Dang, I'm good!!

I hope mom is well.

I am trying to decide whether if I should email the music teacher at Emma's school in regards to a field trip they have. The permission slips got sent home yesterday and on there it said that they had 3 slots for chaperons on a first come first serve basis. I sent in the money and slip first thing this morning and Emma was really excited that I could actually go (the boys will be in Disney that week). Emma came home all sad and said that I couldn't go, the spots had already been filled. I can almost guarantee which 3 moms are going and they are the ones that always go. It frustrates me that the mom's that are at the school with face time are the ones that get picked. This is the 3rd time that I haven't been able to go and it's annoying. Of course we can still go if we choose to drive up there and pay for parking but it's not the same thing. :headache: Should I let it go?
