DDA Chapter 11

We just spent what will probably be our last day at the pool for the summer, unless we get there some evening this week. And what a beautiful day it was. Now I need to get dinner, finish the laundry and get ready for the week ahead. I got all the kids stuff for school organized and we will take it to open house on Thursday so they don't have to lug it to school in their backpacks next week. Teacher assignments go out in the mail tomorrow, so Tuesday afternoon we should know who they will have.

I hope they both get great teachers. Knowing Ferry Farm I have a good feeling they will!

What a weekend this turned into!

Friday morning our ladies bowling league started. I think this pregnancy is going to throw off my already non-existant bowling skills! I didn't do too well the first 2 games. In the third game, however, I rallied and got myself my first turkey ever!!!

Friday afternoon, as soon as the kids got home from school, we left them with Katie in charge. Alan had found a set of bunk beds (twin on top, full on bottom) complete with the full mattress for 120 dollars. We drove to the seller's house and got that onto our trailer, then took it home. While I was driving, Alan was on the computer and found a twin size mattress that was being given away free. Only 1 year old. We dropped off the bunk bed pieces, told the kids we'd be gone until 11:00 that night (date night, kind of), and drove to SLC to look at the mattress. It looked great, so we tied it on top of Alan's car. By this time, we were hungry, so we drove through Wendy's for salads. I dropped Alan off at a high school where he was filming a football game. Since it's not my idea of fun to sit on bleachers watching a game where I don't know anyone, I dropped him off, and went to Barnes and Noble. I found a book I'd been interested in, and sat in a comfy chair and read it while waiting for Alan to call. I made through half the book in the 2 hours, so that was good. We get to do the same thing this coming Friday, so maybe I'll finish the book!

Saturday morning we started the BIG MOVE. We started in Jacob's room, moving stuff out and vacuuming the floor. By the time it was completely empty, Jacob was re-thinking the whole move. However, he was a good sport and helped Alan put together the bunk beds. While the kids were helping daddy, I was frantically cleaning the twins room. I knew if Jacob could get his bed moved in, he'd feel better about things. We really wanted to paint before doing this, but I could sense a meltdown was coming. By the time the bunk bed, and girl's dresser was in the room, we were ready to move Jacob's bed into the nursery. Once it was in, he was thrilled!!! He spent the rest of the day, "decorating" his half of the room. I spent the rest of the day moving the closet contents, and dresser contents to the twins new room. I really overdid it, as my back began screaming at about 3:00. I stopped and had a nap for about an hour and felt much better.

At 5:00 we went to a party for the 50th anniversary of the parents of Alan's best friend. They have been second parents to Alan, and wonderful grandparents to our kids. It was really nice to see them still so much in love! The party was in their backyard. It was packed with friends who came to celebrate. They served ice cream sundaes, floats, popsicles, and ice cream sandwiches. Very nice for a hot night.

Once we got home, the kids were excited to try out their new rooms. All went smoothly, and no one was frightened or upset!

Now, I'm just catching up here and baking an apricot tart for dessert tonight. I've still got a few things to move to the twins new room, but I'll take care of that in a while. Starting tomorrow, I'll have an empty dresser for Peanut and can start going through the boxes of clothes my niece gave me. She has 2 boys that were both born at the same time Peanut will be born. All the clothes will be season appropriate!!!

That's what's up with me. Sorry I've missed so much, but I've been thinking about you, and praying you were all doing well.

Glynis - Don't overdo! But it certainly sounds like you and Alan and the kids got a lot done this weekend!!

I have to say I'm really enjoying Facebook. It will never replace the DDA for our lovely chats but it is so nice being able to look at people's pictures and interests. If you aren't all members, you should consider it. I've been uploading pictures the last couple of days and finding long lost friends.

We are getting Becky packed and ready to head to Ferris. She & I drive down on Tuesday and she moves in on Wednesday. She will be 6 hours away. I'm really happy for her and think it is important that she make this change. However, it is going to be so strange not to have her here.

Katrina is supposed to be taking classes at the community college which means she'll be living at home part time starting today or tomorrow. At least we think she is taking classes. We never quite know with her. We'll know tomorrow once classes start.

Cute!

ive been quite lazy so far today. I had 3 picnics to go to yesterday so it was pretty busy.
If i dont hear about the job by noon time tomorrow, I will be calling. They said they would call either way so I still have hope! haha.

I'll be hoping for an early update! :goodvibes:

I put A LOT of glaze on the bread. I thought it was better after sitting for a day or two as the glaze soaked into the loaf.

I just put exactly what the recipe called for, but maybe next time I'll double it. It is EXCELLENT now that the glaze has soaked in and firmed up a bit.... where there is glaze! ;)

I'm glad you had a good weekend!

What a weekend this turned into!

What a busy weekend! I'm glad you had fun, and got a lot accomplished! :)

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Kyle and I have been talking about it today. When it started, there were about 8 people at Miami on it, and it was only open to a handful of colleges besides ours. Hardly anyone we know used it, and it offered VERY little. It has come so far, that today I benefit so much from it -- keeping in touch with distant family, up to date with groups (alumni groups, twin groups, etc). It makes me so happy that it's able to provide such a service now! And you really can get to know people in a completely different manner! :goodvibes

I joined about a year ago so that I could see my nephew's pictures. He is an amateur photographer and takes some beautiful pics. He loads them on Facebook. My girls were always gushing over them. I only logged in about once a week to see if he or my girls had added any pictures. Some of the girls in my troops that I was a leader for added me quite some time ago as well so I've been able to keep up with their escapades.

Just recently, I've had a bunch of the counselors from Girl Scout camp join. I've found a couple of high school friends as well as college buddies as well.

So that's where you've been!

Robyn I hope that you are feeling better ASAP and that Lucy doesn't get it too badly.

Everyone must be out enjoying their Saturday :goodvibes

My manager's dgd's boyfriend was shot & killed last night here in town. Their family just can not seem to catch a break this year :sad2:

How sad for them. They sure have had a rough time lately. :grouphug:

Here's our label for our welcome boxes. Hopefully its the final draft!
Untitled-1.jpg

Beautiful!

Good Morning All!!

The final score of the football game was 47-0. Cassidy's first boyfriend is a starter so that makes it fun to watch. (He's a good kid whose parents made from 5th grade on a living nightmare....stupid parents who don't think what their fighting over the kids do to them  ...sorry he was an honors student, musician and football player before his mom decided to fight for custody and "home" school him...that year he quit football, music and started failing classes:sad2: )

We got home and into bed at 11 Friday to get up and be out of the house by 5:45 Saturday morning....Abi and I watched the parade. I was appalled at how many of the bands had NOBODY providing water for them in 90+ heat. :sad2: We had a coach and 2 students who started suffering from the heat at the end of the parade...imagine the kids who didn't have any hydration??

Then we had time for lunch...where Jim got us lost (2nd time that day...not even noon yet!!). We then helped the kids set up for practice and then performance. As a parent helper I was assigned a percussion kid. What a great kid!!

We then packed the truck and waited for Jim for over a half hour...let's just say I wasn't happy!! We then did some "shopping" and small livestock looking. This is where I had my blonde moment of the day....I had no clue chinchillas were related to rabbits!! :rotfl:

The kids got 2nd place in their division (the color guard needs a TON of work) and we headed home with a stop at Golden Corral where we haven't been since leaving Billings. Abi woke up craving their rolls this morning:rotfl:

Gosh, it ended up being a trip report:rotfl:

wow what a buzy weekend

looks great

Hi, all! We are home...I have a ton of laundry, etc. to do. We had a great time even though it rained practically continously the last 4 days. We saw Elizabeth at ToT and Anne Marie in Innoventions. I also saw Bernadette one day at The Land, but she was talking on her cell, so I didn't stop to say hi. I haven't had a chance to look at my PhotoPass photos yet. We would have more, but the photographers weren't out in the rain. I also only filled a little over 3 gb on my own camera, because I didn't want to keep pulling it out in the rain. Overall, it was a terrific trip! I'll get back with more sometime tomorrow or the next day.

welcome home Beth,
can't wait to see photos

We're home. We had wonderful weather this weekend

I guess I'd better get moving :laundy: Still lots to do before I leave

TTYL
sounds like you had a great time

Glynis - Don't overdo! But it certainly sounds like you and Alan and the kids got a lot done this weekend!!

We did! I really wanted to paint, but it seemed more important to keep everyone happy with their rooms for the time being.

Jacob wanted to paint his room black (like the space in Star Wars), and then hang pictures on the walls. I think I've got him talked into a more neutral sand color that he can still hang his Star Wars stuff on, and Peanut can have his baby stuff up too. (I think we're going with a classic Pooh Bear motif. Haven't sold Alan on it, yet, but I've got time)

Ditto!

It's pretty cool, huh? I've connected with about 45 kids from college, not to mention keeping in touch with family!

I really should not have waited until today to go get groceries! :scared1: Super Target the night before school starts is a ZOO! But we do have groceries now. Sort of. I got hot dogs but no buns, the sort of thing you do when you get all flustered from crowds. The shelves were bare in spots, the aisles were packed with people, just crazy!

I remembered to get padded envelopes, so there is hope that I will get pins out sometime this week! :thumbsup2

We have done several loads of laundry but there is still PLENTY to be done. Plus one suitcase full of DS's clean clothes that need to be put away. DH also needs to put the empty suitcases away so we can stop tripping over them.

So that's where you've been!

No, that just started in the last couple of days. I check here FIRST to see if anyone is here and if they aren't, then I head over to Facebook. And I keep jumping back over here and refreshing the screen to see if anyone is here yet.

HP and the Goblet of Fire is on at 8. I just started that book, so I think I'll tune in for a little while.

Welcome home Beth!

Deb sounds like you all had a fun weekend!

Tia I hope you find the time to finalize your trip plans!

Glynis sounds like another busy weekend for you!

Chanon the label looks great on the box :thumbsup2

The boys start school tomorrow, we went & bought school supplies after work today. I can't believe summer is over :sad1: Gary has more of the kitchen tore up, I only have my sink left, I am running of of places to put things & cooking is getting to be real tricky lol

I have chicken & steaks marinating, Gary will grill them tonight along with pork chops & brats. I will at least have some meat cooked for the week.

I saw this on the budget board and thought I would pass it along.

Yummmm!!!!!!
