DDA Chapter 11

I have to say I'm really enjoying Facebook. It will never replace the DDA for our lovely chats but it is so nice being able to look at people's pictures and interests. If you aren't all members, you should consider it. I've been uploading pictures the last couple of days and finding long lost friends.
i know, its great!!!

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Kyle and I have been talking about it today. When it started, there were about 8 people at Miami on it, and it was only open to a handful of colleges besides ours. Hardly anyone we know used it, and it offered VERY little. It has come so far, that today I benefit so much from it -- keeping in touch with distant family, up to date with groups (alumni groups, twin groups, etc). It makes me so happy that it's able to provide such a service now! And you really can get to know people in a completely different manner! :goodvibes
I remember when it first started and we waited til our college was a part of it!

I am watching the closing ceramony for the Olympics, I missed the opening ceramony. Did anyone by any chance tape it? I would love to have a copy as I hear it was superb! Mil said they spent 300 million on it

Wow-i did not see it either. I am not sure how much they will be charging, but the tv just said you could purchase the dvd on nbcolympics.com

HP and the Goblet of Fire is on at 8. I just started that book, so I think I'll tune in for a little while.

That's what we have on. It was on last night, too, so we are watching the exact same parts we have already seen. I wish it would have started earlier so we could have picked up where we left off! :rotfl2:

It's similar to the book but doesn't do the book justice.

As the books got longer and had more complicated content there was no way the movies could keep up. I didn't see "Goblet" in the theater, but I really noticed it in the 3rd movie. We had an interesting chat with a CM in the UK pavilion about the differences in the US books vs. the UK ones. I don't know if there are major plot differences or just subtle ones, but I would like to read the UK ones.

Deb - Glad you guys had fun this weekend!

Glynis - Yay for getting the kids' bedrooms switched around!

I am completely done editing and uploading to Photopass. If anyone wants to see them, PM me and I'll send you the link.

Janet- Prayers for your manager's family. :wizard:

Glynis- Sounds like an exhausting but productive weekend. Black:eek:, I am glad Jacob could be persuaded to a different color.

Tia- for plane tickets

Tammi- Glad you all got some pool time into day.

Beth- Welcome Home!!!

Deb- Sounds like a wonderful camping weekend.

Chanon- Love the boxes, what a great idea.

Vicki- I guess it was about time Eric and I made it legal, I mean with 3 kids and all. ;)

Elizabeth- I loved seeing the photopass pics in your trip report!!

Steffy- Congrats to Kim:dance3:

So, I buy airfare yesterday and today there's a DING. :rotfl: We lucked out though since it was less than 24 hours since I purchased, they refunded the full ticket amount to the credit card and I just rebought. It was only for our flights there, but still saved us $80.

Glynis - Sounds like a busy weekend, but very productive. Hope everyone continues to enjoy their new rooms.

Chanon - Love how the boxes turned out!

Beth - Welcome home. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Deb - Sounds like a great weekend! We're excited to camp in a couple of weeks. Much better prospects than the original weekend which ended up with our 100 degree days of the year.

Jen - Fingers are crossed that you get a wonderful phone call first thing tomorrow!

Well, I didn't get much trip stuff done today, but we did have a good time. We ate lunch first thing and then the kids played minigolf, rode go karts and played lots of games. Since it was 4:30 by the time they finished we decided to take advantage of the all-you-can-eat aspect and feed them dinner. There was enough variety to satisfy the adults twice. After a stop at the grocery store (where we had bare shelves too, Elizabeth) we came home and the kids swam for a short time. At 82 degree water with 83 degree air, I wasn't touching the water. Now I'm thinking about trip planning, but am leaning toward an early bedtime instead. Guess I'll go watch the ceremony and see what my body decides from there. Night all!

That is great news, Tia!

I am completely exhausted but feeling much better. I got some Zicam yesterday and that seems to have gotten rid of the cold feeling. I still feel a bit congested but not sick like I did Friday night and yesterday morning.

Yesterday we dropped Emma off at her party at 1pm and then the rest of us hit the road and shopped til 5pm. We had a new grocery store open up, Fresh World/International Market. It was interesting and we found some great deals, milk for $1.99/gallon. Mo was thrilled with all the live fish swimming around in the tanks, she can't wait to go back and get some to eat! They had a huge selection of Japanese/Korean groceries so Eric was in heaven. Secretly I think he's Asian:rotfl: After there we headed to my parents and picked up a desk my dad bought for Emma's new room. We snagged their cooler and filled it with our grocery store purchases as we still had another stop to make. It was then off to Super Walmart for the last of Emma's school supplies (I needed one more pack of wide ruled paper) and lunch box fillers. We finished up there quickly and came home so Eric could start putting away the groceries and feed Lucy. Somehow we forgot to give her lunch. I thought Eric did and he thought I did. Oops!! Mo and I went and picked up Emma. She had a good time but was ready to get home. We spent the rest of the night just hanging out and doing laundry and other house things.

This morning we got up and hit the floor running at 6:30 along with Lucy and Molly. I was determined to finish up with the room switch and going through the girls clothes. I wanted to get rid of most of Lucy's summer clothes that she got from my girlfriend (she had 3 drawers full of outfits), I figure she can make do with the stuff she got from her birthday and the stuff I've bought. I also went through Emma and Molly's clothes as some organization is coming Wednesday for a pickup. I stashed what I wanted to save for Mo and Lucy and then bagged up the rest. I also managed to pack up some things for my sister and a box of Lucy's clothes from last fall/winter to take to the consignment shop in hopes of making some extra $$. I also painted Molly and Lucy's name on their bedroom wall. This was part of the deal between Molly and I to get her to stay in her bed. She has done well the past few nights, I made a big deal out telling her that her best friend sleeps in her bed all night and how she is a good big sister to her little sister. Now mind you, Syd and her little sister don't share a room but it seems to work. Molly wants to be just like Syd. I have also managed to play around on Facebook when I wanted a break. I feel like I've made huge progress but I also have so much further to go, but it's a nice feeling seeing all that stuff get out of my house.

Tammi - I would love to see your pics!

I just found a memory card in one of our point & shoots with 175 more pics on it. A lot of them are pics DS took, but others are pics DH took when he didn't feel like getting out one of the "big" cameras. I think we took about 1400 pics between the 4 cameras.

Tia - Sounds like a fun day! Yay for a DING!

I got a DING to KC but it was for mid-end of Sept. and November but no October dates at all. I have time off in October so I would like to go see my mom (and bring DS), but the fares right now are too high. Plus I need to see when DH is going in for his colonoscopy. :rolleyes1

They are getting ready to extinguish the Olympic flame. I always cry when they do this. I am such a sap!!!!!!

Robyn - Glad you are feeling better! Sounds like you got a lot done this weekend! Yay for clearing the clutter!

I still have suitcase clutter and clutter from the kitchen that never got put back after the counter replacement. I bet I could go through DS's closet again and get rid of more stuff, but he HATES when I do that. He is stressed enough about school that I don't need to add to it. Besides, I have enough other stuff to keep me busy without going in his room.

I put away all of the clean clothes from my suitcase. I had to, because DH was going to bed and that's where it was all piled up! I still had 15 clean shirts in there, a bunch of bras, a bunch of socks. Only 4 shorts and 2 panties, but if I could have stayed at WDW I could have done a load of laundry. :rolleyes1

Coming home we had one big suitcase that weighed 48 pounds, but the others were all in the 42-45 pound range so I know I can pack ALL of those clothes for the next trip and not go overweight on the bags!

Robyn - wow, you are one busy lady.

Tia - yay for the ding

Elizabeth - sent you a pm. Nicholas and I enjoyed looking at your pix on your TR thread. He is happy that he finally 'knows' someone on here. He said "hey there's DS (by name).

I'm heading to bed. It's going to be a long week. Nicholas has football practice Tues, Wed and Thur from 6-8. His dad has been taking him while I've been away, so I can't wait to see him in all of his gear!

15 shirts and only 4 shorts, did you miscalculate?

Emma starts school tomorrow, she is beyond excited!! I hope DS settles in quickly and that this year isn't quite as rough as last. :wizard:

Nah, not busy just motivated!!

Good night!!

DS is becoming much more interested in the boards. He keeps lurking behind me to see what I am reading or posting.
We really enjoyed seeing you guys again! Hopefully we'll have another overlapping trip in the future! :)

I have found some friends on Facebook and My Space as well. It is a lot of fun.

Diva has a Facebook account, and I guess Miss Selfish has one, too. The night Mom was in the hospital I stayed up almost all night with Diva looking at Facebook, but it was all of her friends. We looked for a couple of people I knew from high school but we only found a few. So funny, one guy I used to date had a step-brother a couple of years ahead of us. The step-brother is completely bald now. DH is bald too, but the guy from high school made me laugh! :rotfl2:

I got kind of picky when I was packing shorts, so I didn't have that many. I bought A LOT of new shirts right before we left, but not shorts because I couldn't find any I liked this year.
