DDA Chapter 11

Chanon - The gift box looks great! :thumbsup2

Tia - I hope you are able to get some of your trip tasks completed!

Theresa - Sounds like a crazy weekend for you guys!
I guess it never occurred to me to wonder what chinchillas were related to, but I did not know it was rabbits.

That PhotoPass CD was a booger to get loaded into the computer, and then formatted so I could edit/crop/etc. :headache:

I am also trying to get DS organized for tomorrow. That huge 3" binder BARELY fits in his backapck, which means nothing else will fit in there. I am sending him to school tomorrow with a 2" binder from last year. We can switch to the 3" later on as he gets settled. We found an entire pad of graph paper and what looks like an entire pack of unsharpened pencils in his backpack from last year. NO WONDER the dang backpack is so HEAVY! Silly boy! I am going to have to do nightly checks this year to make sure he isn't dragging around a bunch of stuff he doesn't need. He has a bunch of dividers that can be used again this year. I don't think we are going to need to buy many supplies at all, considering how much he has left from last year. We also have a big bag of stuff that I bought on clearance that he never used.

Hi, all! We are home...I have a ton of laundry, etc. to do. We had a great time even though it rained practically continously the last 4 days. We saw Elizabeth at ToT and Anne Marie in Innoventions. I also saw Bernadette one day at The Land, but she was talking on her cell, so I didn't stop to say hi. I haven't had a chance to look at my PhotoPass photos yet. We would have more, but the photographers weren't out in the rain. I also only filled a little over 3 gb on my own camera, because I didn't want to keep pulling it out in the rain. Overall, it was a terrific trip! I'll get back with more sometime tomorrow or the next day.

Welcome back, Beth. I am glad you had a good trip. Can't wait to see your photos!

Those on the photo session board have been told that the price has gone up for private sessions from $25 with preordered cd to $75 with preordered cd... I don't know if I can justify $75 for photos taken by a non-professional...though those are probably the only pictures that Bob and I will have together...

I don't think that they photographers are "professional" enough to warrant that. We did not get that many really good photos, just lots of OK photos. Chris says it is worth $25, but he wouldn't even pay $50.

sorry I haven't stopped by...I haven't been in the best of moods....actually I am in a down right cranky mood...

crankiness: Bill's oldest son & wife may just end up putting me over the edge. there has been a flurry of emails going back and forth...unfortunately it has caused some real hurt feelings for Bill.....and with my personality, I have no problems washing my hands of them...which may or may not be the right thing to do...but that's how I feel.

stress: we have a consultation on the 28th set up with a gastroenterologist ...with a colonoscopy scheduled shortly after that.

we FINALLY heard back from Bill's doctor...but only after I had to call and raise a big stink...(long story...but this has been very mismanaged) so we definitely have to go to a cardiologist....and it seems you just don't waltz right in there. So it is set up for the 12th....I will go now with his recommendations and take the regular doctor out of the equation. I am more confident with this practice as well as the hospital. Unfortunately Bill's long term relationship doctor is affiliated with a rat trap.

so more or less in limbo I guess....

  Things sound chaotic, but it sounds like you have a good hand on things.

Welcome home, Tammi!

Stay safe (and hopefully fairly dry!), Debbie!

That sounds heavenly!

Chanon, was it you that asked about Kingdom Hearts? And maybe Jennifer?
KH is a game (there are 2 actually) for Playstation 2 that combines the Final Fantasy characters and Disney characters, music, etc! It's really cool.... although I must admit I own both and have only played a small portion of one. If I ever found more time I'd love to play again :rotfl:

Deb, I am sitting here eating your orange loaf now! It's pretty good! I wish, personally, that it was a bit more orangey. When I have a bite with a good amount of the glaze, it's wonderful! Otherwise it is a bit bland for a dessert-type bread.... maybe if I put something on it? Do they make an "orange butter"? :teeth: Thanks for sharing the recipe though, I'll definitely be making it again -- and it was so quick and easy! Maybe I'll just make extra glaze for the rest of the loaf? It's my favorite part!

I put A LOT of glaze on the bread. I thought it was better after sitting for a day or two as the glaze soaked into the loaf.

Here's our label for our welcome boxes. Hopefully its the final draft!

Very Nice

...and the finished product (well, without all the goodies inside!)

It looks really great all together. Each component compliments the other. :thumbsup2

We're home. We had wonderful weather this weekend. Hot days and cool nights with NO rain :cool1: We got to the campground around 3 PM on Friday. We set up camp while the boys and friend (Nick brought a friend with us) went to the pool with my Mom and DB's family. Eventually I went up to the pool and watched the kids a bit. We headed back around 5 PM and made hot pastrami sandwiches for dinner. They were very good. At 5:30 PM we went to candy bar bingo. We didn't have a winning streak though Mom did win the last game. I think she ended up winning 8 candy bars. We went back to the campsite and started the campfire. We hung out there until after 11 PM. It was nice and relaxing. The kids ended up staying in the camper and playing video games, but I guess that is there "thing".

Saturday morning we did the horse drawn wagon ride around the campground and then had a big breakfast with the whole family. We each made a couple of things so there was food galore. After cleanup we got the shuffleboard equipment and had our own little tournament. It is amazing what you can do when you are a group of 12 :rotfl: Since we had 6 adults and 6 kids we had the kids draw numbers to match them up with an adult. With only a few meltdowns after losing (not my kids for once  ) we made a quick lunch of sandwiches. After lunch we gathered our swim gear and lounge chairs and headed for the pool. It was in the 80s and sunny. We spent the afternoon at the pool. They had a game of "water polo" which consisted of a huge PVC pipe being placed across the pool. The pipe is then soaked with water and 2 players meet in the center and proceed to try to knock the other player off. Of course the big kids were winning, but it was fun anyway. Chris, Kevin and I even had a go of it. Can you believe that Colby knocked me off ;) By 3 PM the kids were water logged so we headed back to camp. The kids went to the playground and down to the fishing pond while Chris and I had a nap :thumbsup2 We headed to the pot luck at 5:30 PM. It was a very small turnout, but enough food so all was good. Of course a couple of families showed up at 6 PM with a couple of bags of chips and a couple of small salads (not nearly enough for the group of them) only to find most of the first dishes gone :rotfl2: From there we had our usual mini golf tournament. My cousins son and his friend joined us too. That made 14 of us. It was fun and since we sent the 5 oldest boys ahead there wasn't any bickering :cool1: We were about 1/2 done when my mother's cousins and friend tracked us down. They live nearby and knew we were camping so they stopped by to visit. Kevin ended up winning with Chris in second. We headed back to camp and got a fire going. Chris and I took the kids to the pool to swim. There was a DJ so the boys danced in the water for a while. It was pretty cold by then so we dragged them out and got them into dry clothes (pants and sweatshirts by then). Hunter ended up going straight to bed as he wasn't feeling great and was very tired. The other kids played out doors with glow stick and glow balls on a big hill. The adults sat around the fire and chatted. We also had a tv outside to watch the NASCAR race. Eventually everyone went there separate ways. The kids headed to bed around 11 PM and Chris and I watched the end of the race then headed to bed ourselves. Overall it was a nice relaxing day.

Today was beautiful again, but things didn't go so well. Chris woke us all up, which didn't leave anyone in a great mood. Then he managed to flood the camper, thankfully with clean water, but none the less it was a mess. We finally got home around 11:30 and emptied the camper. Now my house, which was completely clean before we left, has piles of crap everywhere that needs to be washed or put away. Of course I need to be at work in an hour so that is not likely to get done since no one else seems to know where anything goes

I guess I'd better get moving :laundy: Still lots to do before I leave

TTYL

is it possible to take a peek at the campus while I am in UT??

I do wish I could take the girls...but I NEED this to be about me, so that I can come home and be as strong as I can for my girls.

I'm sure we can arrange a peek at the campus. They are starting classes tomorrow. My niece is going there as a music major. I'll ask her where the best places to view the campus are.

I totally understand the need for this to be a Theresa trip! I cannot wait!!!!

The orange loaf is delicious. We had to cut into a loaf as it just smelled so goooood :goodvibes Chris described it as an orange flavored corn bread as the consistancy is much like cornbread. It is not as good as Disney's, but good none the less

Orange Bread

If anyone finds the recipe for the bread at Tusker House, I would love to have it.

Thanks for posting this! I can't wait to try it!

I, too, would like the Tusker House recipe. Please, please!

Prayers for Bill continue, Kristine! I'll also pray for you, too. I know how it feels to want to cut off an in-law! My MIL comes to mind. I hope you find the strength to do what's best for you, Bill and your family!

It's something for our out of town guests (or anyone staying at the hotel). We plan on putting some goodies in this box for the guests as well as some maps and things to do in the area.
Nice, and thoughtful!

Apparently I've got DDA on the brain lately as I had a dream last night that I ran into Tammi, Bob and the kids at the bookstore at our mall (and it was the second time in a week that I'd had that dream). It was so real, that I woke up thinking that I needed to email Tammi and find out what we never realized that we lived an hour apart. Somewhere in my dream-state mind I had them moved to Western Ohio and had removed Illinois from the map so that they were a regular shopper at Phil's bookstore and we had just never realized it.

That's like the fourth DDA-related dream I've had this week.
I feel pretty important to have been in your dream ;) but sorry, I don't see us moving to Ohio anytime soon! :)

Did it ever work? It sure is finicky sometimes.

We just spent what will probably be our last day at the pool for the summer, unless we get there some evening this week. And what a beautiful day it was. Now I need to get dinner, finish the laundry and get ready for the week ahead. I got all the kids stuff for school organized and we will take it to open house on Thursday so they don't have to lug it to school in their backpacks next week. Teacher assignments go out in the mail tomorrow, so Tuesday afternoon we should know who they will have.
