DDA Chapter 11

Sooooo...

You know how I said we wouldn't do concierge next summer? I lied. :rolleyes1
Today is our 11 month mark if we fly in on Thursday night. In all probability we won't go until Friday morning, but just for kicks I called to see if I could book a concierge studio for 7 nights. And I COULD!  Now I just need to call next weekend and try to add the last 3 nights. Once I have it secured we can hem and haw about which day to fly in and I can modify our arrival date if I need to. I figured it was a sign that I should book since I called almost 3 hours after they opened and they still had a concierge room available!

Yay! for concerige!!!

Since we have to move our trip up now I am rethinking where we might stay. POR was great this trip but I would like to stay somewhere else next time. We have the AS suites booked but Bernadette's review made me think again. I like to give the Poly another try...Dana says CR is "too sterile" but I would like to stay there just once..I guess I will see what discounts are available when the time comes.

Stay safe everyone getting all the rain!

We on the other hand are enjoying a BEAUTIFUL day! Clear blue skies, lower humidity, and cooler temps. My sinuses are already thankful!

Has anyone heard from Lindsay? I wonder what they are doing with the cruise...Where can they possibly devert them too when the whole caribbean is being affected?

I was wondering the same thing this morning, Anne Marie.

Anne Marie - We really liked the Poly, but I don't know how much the upgrade played into us liking it. Our rate (with an AP discount) was $291 per night, tax included. That was for garden view. I booked that in mid-June.
I have always wanted to stay at CR, but that hasn't happened yet. DH was the one who wanted to try the Poly, and I am a sucker for a good AP rate.

Um, excuse me? Since you have a LONG day it seems to me that YOU should be booking things for your OWN August trip! :rolleyes1 Chop, chop!

I am not even entirely sure we CAN go!! I want to go but we won't decide for sure until after the first of the year. So I can plan and plan but it won't do any good until I know for sure we can go.

Did it ever really end??!! :lmao: :rotfl ::rotfl2:

No, not really!!

Have fun deciding!! Pop is where we'll be, we won't be able to afford anything else. And I'd rather stay there for longer than at a mod for shorter. The deluxes are way out of our range, sadly.

That is exciting! I know how much you enjoyed CL. I hope you are able to add those other three nights next week!

Enjoy it!! I am glad it is helping you feel better. The forecast here shows lower temps and nice weather mid week and I can't wait. 50's for the overnight. My kind of weather.

ACK! I think this post just fried my eyeballs out of my skull! :scared1: :scared:

I will say that the one time we stayed at the CR in the tower it was the most convenient trip we ever had. It is not my idea of the perfect resort (Kristin LOVES it) but I would stay there again in a tower room in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Elin! If I can't get them I will waitlist for them. We may decide closer to the trip that we don't really want concierge, but since there are only 5 concierge studios I figure it's better to have it locked in now and ponder the choices later.

Robyn - Better to plan now and modify later, I always say! ;)

We have had inches and inches of rain and there does not seem to be an end anytime soon. The wind has started coming from the other direction now and is blowing harder than before.

I hope Tammi had a good trip out in this mess. Kristin and I are planning to go out and get our pampering done as long as we can get from the house to the car without being blown away. ;)

I just looked out the patio doors and there was a hummingbird at one of my feeders! That tiny little brain of his was not working on all its cylinders, I think! :scared:

Unless we got an amazing discount I don't think we could afford tower. The thing that concerns me about the garden wing is the darn boat horns! It would be my luck to get a room so close to the water that I could spit into the canal from our patio, and the horns would blast me out of bed every 10 minutes.

Our December '09 trip will almost certainly be cash instead of points, so I will get to shop for a resort. The thing is, if we go parade weekend the monorail resorts are always full from the parade people. I guess we could do AKL or WL, depending on what sort of AP rates are out.

I was wondering the same thing this morning, Anne Marie.

They find the best possible route. Sometimes it is still rough 24-30+ foot waves. I would much rather be on a cruise ship during a hurricane then land during vacation as your whole resort moves with you. Instead of you just needing to get out of the way. They find the best weather and plans lots of activities if you do not make it to a port.

My first cruise they pulled us 60 miles east off the coast of Florida. We sat there for about 24 hours in pretty good weather. Hurricane Rita was about 300 miles away. We got really close to Rita and had 30+ foot waves. As they were trying to get us to Nassau. We were in Nassau only about 3-4 hours after the storm left the island.

Actually if there are hurricanes it does some wacky stuff. On this past cruise. Around the time we were in Aruba the ocean looked like glass, with no waves it was sooo smooth. Gustav and Hanna were sucking up the wind causing this. It was the calm before the storm. There was nary a breeze at Aruba. It looked like a pond on a non-windy day.

Have you all read what is being done at CS? Kristin and I were discussing the possibilities of staying there when they are done with the upgrades. In case you haven't seen the article I will go look for it and post a link in a minute.

Good luck!
I had a boss who went out for a manicure in an ice storm. WITH HER KIDS! I refused to go in that day because it was too slippery, but she had her priorities and that manicure was at the top of her list.

This was from Deb Wills' newsletter and can be found on the NEWS link on her website: allearsnet.com

Coronado Springs Resort is undergoing some upgrades over the next several months. The resort is in the process of replacing its double beds with queens (the Rancho section is complete, as are Casitas 4 & 5). In addition there will be new furniture to suit modern tastes, but still in theme. One hundred rooms will get upgraded to king beds (CSR will then have 224 king rooms). All of the rooms are getting flat screen TVs. Tables are being replaced with desks so that floor space is preserved after putting in larger beds. In addition to these room changes, one Coronado Springs building will be transformed into a "Business Club" building. All Business Club Level rooms will have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, desk and chair, vanity area with sink, a ceiling fan and a bathroom. These rooms offer views of the lake, courtyard or parking lot. Business Club Level services include personalized Front Desk and Guest Services, turndown service and a lounge with continental breakfast, midday snacks and evening wine (additional fee) and cheese. Amenities include DVD player, in-room wall safe, voice mail, data port, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, mini-fridge, robes and coffee maker. A crib is available upon request. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. Most of these updates are being made with a minimum impact on guests.

We had a terrible stay at the Poly but I want to give it another try since its been 6 years. I would like to be at a MK resort so we can pop back to our room when MK gets too crowded. Epcot always seems to handle crowds better but MK can seem like a zoo when its too hot & too crowded. A quick pop back to the pool midday would be great.
