Kristine (or anyone who might know) - I thought the Sunrise Safaris were only on Sundays and Thursdays. I just read a recent review that said they had done it on a Saturday. Any thoughts on this?

Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is exclusive to concierge guests staying at our resort. It is offered on Thursdays and Sundays. The safari starts at 6:30 A.M. if the park opens at 8 A.M. & it starts at 7:30 A.M. if the park opens at 9 A.M.. You would meet in the concierge lounge at 6:15 A.M. or 6:45 A.M., depending on park hours & will check-in at the concierge desk. The concierge will scan your park admission into the park which is required to participate in this experience. An animal programs cast member will be meeting our guests in the Sunset Overlook to give a run down of the morning's activities. You will then take a private bus, which will go through some of the backstage areas at Disney's Animal Kingdom. You will then walk over to the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction and board the first jeep onto the savanna. You will be able to ask the animal programs cast member questions and there will be frequent stops for you to take pictures. The safari will last from 45 minutes to 1 hour long. Afterwards you will have a delicious breakfast buffet that awaits you. While you are enjoying your breakfast, there will be cultural representatives from Africa to answer any questions you have about their country or about Disney's Animal Kingdom. You are free to go about your day, at this point. If you would like to go back to the resort, you will take the regular bus back. The cost is $55.00 for adults and $27.50 for children 3 to 9. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy. The unpaved roads of Harambe Wildlife Reserve pass through rough and rugged terrain. For your safety you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride. If you have special needs (wheelchair or ECV) or dietary needs, please let us know so that we may accommodate you.

Well, suitcase day has come to a rather unceremonious halt. The dryer broke. I had a load in there, opened the door to see if the things were dry. They were still damp, so I closed the door and hit "start" but nothing happened. Messed with it, nothing happened. DH messed with it. Still nothing. The good news is the dryer belongs to the apartments so THEY have to fix it! The bad news is I don't know how long it will take! I will call in the morning and tell them we are trying to get ready to go out of town and we really need the dryer fixed quickly.

Mom called. She is doing OK. They told her the first treatment is typically the easiest. I hope she continues to feel OK.

I'm glad the dryer decided to work again! I hope it cooperates at least until you can get out of town!

I think I will wait to see if IPO contacts me in the next day or so. I have ADRs that need to be made and I can certainly ask about that then too.

By the way... we are not doing the Sunset Safari. Just cannot justify the cost when we are already eating at Jiko once that trip. It would be an additional $320 that would pay for a lot of things, like Kristin's airfare, probably!

I knew I had SOMETHING in common with you!!

Glad your mom is doing okay.

We stand on the scale with and without the offending bag to figure out the weight.

I can't lift it. It is the 29" one. There isn't a good way for me to grip it to lift it without hurting my back. I am not supposed to lift anything over 30 lbs anyway. DH is usually a pretty accurate judge and he says it's not 50 lbs. so I will hope he is right. And I will leave room in the shoe bag to offload things if he is wrong.

Sunday and Thursday has been my understanding, too.

Tampa? I was extremely underwhelmed both times I've gone. Once I was able to ride coasters and there were a few that were ok, but not worth the price of admission, IMO. The second time I was pregnant and work paid for it, so it was a very different trip. I did lots of "sight seeing", animal exhibits, etc and they were extremely disappointing. I understood going into it that between WDW and our zoo I'm definitely spoiled in regards to theming and animal exhibits, but it was still just very mediocre. Just my two cents...

Ironically, Kyle and I were just talking about this today!

which one? The one here in Virginia is gorgeous. I think it has been named the most beautiful theme park in the country. The one in Tampa... eh

We could. We could actually still do our 57 year tradition of BIG breakfast on Christmas morning and do the Sunset Safari in lieu of Jiko for dinner. BUT... and this is a very big but... we would then be talking about having to pay for all 4 of us to do it and that brings the total cost up to $640. Way too much money! And my paternal grandfather was from Scotland. I am very practical and frugal, Elizabeth.

Jiko is the one restaurant that Bob wants to take the girls to. He loved our meal there in October and cannot wait to go back. We are not doing it on our trip together this fall.

Whew! I was worried. I found DDA Chapter 9 almost on the bottom of page 1. I missed Chapter 10 when I was scanning for it. It scared me that no one was posting! I should have known better.

I got an email from my brother who lives in Japan. He is trying to get a job in Tampa. He'd be there early next year. That would be cool.

So I managed to read the last 10 pages, but have no idea what may have happened in the last 3 weeks. It is hard to believe that 3 weeks have already passed.

We arrived safely home at Noon today. 27 hours of driving about did me in. The kids did well in the truck, but it is just a lot of time in the car. I hope that Beth's family is enjoying the travel time more than we did.

Other than the actual travel time we had a wonderful trip. We did everything that we had hoped to, and enjoyed the time that our extended family were with us. It was however nice to have the last 1 1/2 weeks for just the 5 of us. I'm not even going to try to post details tonight as I am heading to bed. Just wanted everyone to know that we arrived home safely.

As a side note it took us 14 hours to get from Orlando to Frederickburg, VA. We waved as we drove by at 11 PM last night

Elizabeth - So glad the dryer is cooperating, for the time being. Good luck with the packing and the estimating!

Jen - Welcome back! Loved the pictures that you posted! You look so darling!

Tammi and Elin - I'm so jealous that the 2 of you are close enough to go out for dinner so frequently! I keep trying to talk some of you into moving closer to me, but so far, no ones biting! Seriously, I think it's wonderful that you two look out for each other.

Kristine - I was going to beg for the Wii fit, but looks like you found another taker! I'll keep looking around here.

Anne Marie - Good luck with the promotion and all that it entails. Moving can be scary, but if it's for the best for the family that's another thing. At this point, I'll just send you pixie dust that you can make the best decision possible for everyone.

Terry and Stephanie - Sounds like a great meet! Congrats on winning the breakfast, Terry! I could tell by the look on your face that is was so special to you!

Becky - Do you EVER slow down? Take it easy girl! You've got Disneyland to get ready for, don't you know?

Theresa - Sorry about the headbanger tent! Hopefully, the heat will go down so you don't miss your a/c too much! My offer of an air conditioned house to visit is still open.

Janet - Sounds like you had a busy day, yesterday! Take it easy in the heat! Although, maybe it's a good idea to get used to it before you tackle WDW!

Things here are great today. No dizziness, no icky feeling, nada! Alan left the a/c on all night long, so I never overheated during the night. I woke up feeling great, and he's been right by my side making sure that I have water and some kind of protein (cheese sticks, peanut butter, etc.). What a guy! I think he's really excited because he actually felt Peanut kick last night. He was so thrilled! It makes it more real for him.

We also preordered a Wii bundle from Gamestop. It comes with the Wii Play, the Sports and Mario Galaxy. 2 remotes, 2 nunchucks, and a recharging/docking station. It was a pretty good buy at 349.00, so now we just need to find the Wii Fit and Christmas is done! At least the Santa stuff.
