Bernadette - Love that hat! And ditto on Glynis' question. Also, approx how long did it take you to make Lizzy's twirl skirt?

That is so cute! Was is hard to do?

It really wasn't! Just straight lines-you piece it onto paper so your seams are perfect. Here's the first one I made in size 0 to 6 months for a friend. It was surprisingly easy even so small.

The one I made for Emma is XL-size 5 to 12 years. It is a tiny bit big, fits Joe perfectly and is a touch too small for Lizzy. I enlarged the pattern on a copy machine 5% in hopes that will fit Lizzy. My kids have huge heads.
Here's a link to purchase the PDF pattern-the instructions are perfect!

That hat is about 2 hours start to finish. I am going to try the next one without paper piecing it-just sewing the seams and that should decrease my time considerably.

I bet Lizzy's skirt was over 10 hours.:scared1: I have to run as someone is waiting for me but I do have a suggestion for making it a bit easier that I will post tonight.

Glynis, sounds like a fun day yesterday. We have tried our local amusement parks in the past, but Disney has us totally spoiled. :snooty:

Theresa, I will let ya know how it was. And tell Cassidy I agree, its about time they did another chick flick. The last good one was the Hairspray remake.

Glynis, beautiful cakes and I love the Winnie the Pooh. Wouldn't mind that one for my birthday.

Bernadette, cute hat and nope don't think she will wear the flower side.

Well time to fill out the Christmas cards. :rolleyes1

Yup I have a sickness. ;) :teeth:

Us too! The kids kept saying, "It's not as fun as Disneyland!" Still, they did have a good time, and it was good for them to spend some time with Alan!

US Airways is now charging for bottled water

ON MSN today:

Charging for checked luggage and legroom isn’t enough for some carriers — starting today (Aug. 1), coach passengers flying aboard US Airways Inc. must pay for a drink of water.

This morning, US Airways began charging fliers $2 for bottled water and sodas and $1 for teas and coffees. First class members, trans-Atlantic passengers and a select group of others are exempt from the extra fees.

I figured you would like that one. That's why I posted that picture. I'll have to post some of her other birthday cakes.

Elin the penguin picture is so cute!

Deb :yay: for the great deals at Penny's!

Glynis sounds like you had a very nice day yesterday, enjoy the movie tonight! Your sisters cakes are beautiful :thumbsup2

Heidi enjoy your night out with your sister tomorrow. I am curious to hear your thoughts on the movie as well!

Bernadette great job on the bucket hat!

Thanks!

Tia-The piecing the patchwork pieces is easy but I had some real problems doing the basting and gathering. The directions suggested using a different color thread for the bobbin to easily see which threads to pull. So I just grabbed any thread and didn't know it was some really cheap stuff that kept breaking once I tried pulling on it.:scared: Then the pins I had marking the 1/4's kept falling out. SO....the next project I did I just basted in 4 sections and you know what it looks fine! It was SOOOOOO much easier to do it this way and while it isn't perfectly evenly gathered over the entire garment is is good enough. I also used a zig zag stitch over dental floss to gather and found that easier.

This Pooh nightgown of Lizzy's is the one I did that on and I don't think you can see where I broke my gathering stitches.

Welcome home Beth!

Jen - I'm glad you finally got your surgery scheduled. It will be over with before you know it.

Bernadette great job on the bucket hat!
Thanks! Won't it be perfect with Emma's Car's outfit.

How's the packing? I still haven't done my grocery order or minimus order or even really thought about packing.:scared1: I think I have like 20 more things I'd like to make but will probably only get a few done. I'm working on this really cool Mickey bowling shirt for Joe. I WILL get that done this weekend. I just need make and add the collar and make and set in the sleeves. Would love to do a top for Lizzy, bowling shirt for Lizzy, dress for Emma, colored pencil roll ups for my 3 and Halley, another bowling shirt for Joe, bowling shirt for Halley, hats for Joe & Lizzy & Halley and one for Emma to match her lizard shirt.......:rotfl2:

It took almost all day long, but we just got home with Bob's new car. He is happier than a penguin in an ice flow! And I have NO idea where that came from. :rotfl2:

I don't know how many times I've seen this, but it cracks me up every time! Yay for the new car!
