So i went and got a baby jogger Micro for DD4 to use at Disney World. She can tip and walk the umbrella strollers. I really like this stroller but found out today that DD4 can unbuckle it. That is NOT good. I had planned on using the stroller as a wheelchair this trip in July. Ideas on what to do? I need a stroller, she is a flight risk along with other things. UGH

I'd take her with me to the store, and immediately rule out the strollers she can unfasten. We have a Keekaroo that goes up to 55 lbs. Our nearly 5 yr old never unfastens it, because the only places we use it are theme parks, malls, etc. Basically places where she prefers the comfort of her stroller to her freedom.

I guess your dd is telling you she doesn't need it as a shelter from others. Maybe a child leash would be a better option?

Duct Tape! :duck:

I soooo agree!:rotfl:

DD4 rode in it, but when she wanted out she would get out. The umbrellas don't work for her. I'm trying to see about another buckle I can put on there. I'm also looking at the Baby Jogger Elite. UGH, she is a flight risk.

The harness doesn't work, she has thrown herself down and not walk. She is like a little houdini!!:lmao:

I havent checked out the BJCMicro buckles personally, but I know that with some strollers/carseats you can turn/twist the buckle 'inside out' and it makes it much more difficult to undo....?

Good Luck!

Oh you have a future engineer, good luck!!!. Tape, a covering sheath or a heavy wide ruberband can sometimes work depending on the typy of latch. Sometimes you can work the latch to the side to make it harder, but if you have a "creative one" and she does not want to be in the stroller, you may be out of luck.

Back hookpoint harnesses usually work well as long as you only apply tension in emergencies.

Can you rethread the straps through the stroller? If you can rethread them so that the latch is in the back of the stroller, where she can't reach them.

Or how about another type of latch that you run the other way on top of the one already there?

I've got it!!!! Get one of those safety straps for cabinets. You know the ones that go threw the handles of the cabinets. You could then put it also around the straps. The ones that I am thinking of need you to hold two spots at the same time in order for them to open. That might fix your little monkey into her stroller. If not it will keep her real busy trying to figure it out, and it won't cost much either.

Something like this might work.

SecureTech Cabinet Lock

Don't want to drill holes in your cabinets? Get our non-marring sliding lock instead! It works without screws, holes, or adhesives. And now you needn't remove it in order to open your cabinets, because it will hang from your hardware until you reengage it. For knobs and handles ½"-5" apart. With red/green visual indicator, so you know at a glance that it's truly locked.

i did a little googling and found that the city mini had many buckle problems in strollers manufactured before feb 09. i am pretty sure the micro is new right? hopefully they didnt have extra buckles lying around that they used on the micro.
is there anyway you could sew some sort of triangle of fabric around the closed buckle ( i am sure she would open velcro or snaps) and make it a little harder to get to.
the buckles on the maclarens are pretty hard to do, as are the buckles on my sons life jacket, i wonder if there is anyway you could rig some other strap up to it. good luck
oh wait how about something like this , but make the velcro go all around the back of the stroller, you could even make it in disney prints

What about a webbed piece of nylon with the buckle in the back affixed around your daughter and the stroller. I don't know if it would work. You could also try knotting something. Just don't go near water.

I can’t find a picture that shows what I am talking about, but if you look in the luggage department of any store, you will probably be able to find luggage straps that clip shut with a plastic clip. You could get one of those and fasten it in the back.
Since you need some hand strength and coordination to open them, you might even be able to close it in the front of the stroller and she could not be able to undo it.

You can find plastic clips like that in stores like Joann Fabrics and Crafts as well as strap material to make an extra belt with.

EDITED TO ADD:
when I googled the words Luggage Belt, I came up with more items. Here are some brightly colored ones, but I found all kinds.

I'm going to see what I can do. I really liked the stroller, just need to figure out a way to keep her in. This is my little magician. She can't travel with pants on, she comes unglued about them falling down. One trip she was crying and complaining about ehr pants, next thing you know she had her pants at her knees. I should mention that she was in a 5point harness car seat at the time!!! :lmao:YEp, that is my crazy girl! We now take her pants of to travel, and put them on when we stop. :thumbsup2

If the name of the stroller the Baby Jogger Micro? I googled it and there was a link on Amazon to a tray for it. I can't write the link because I am so new. You can Google it and find it, too.

There are also some restraints that might work on posey.com.

Also an occupational therapist would be able to help you come up with a longer term solution.

Good luck!

You might be able to secure it with plastic zip ties. These are cheap and up-openable. You just have to take a bunch (they are sold in quantity) and cut it off when you want to open it. A pain, but secure and cheap.

Yes, the stroller is the Baby Jogger Cuty Micro!

I'm going to go look at that website.

Just called baby jogger about my DD4 being able to unbuckle her micro. They are sending me a buckle from the elite. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
The lady I spoke with said she knew exactly what I was talking about and use to work with autistic children.

I will see how it does in a couple of days!!!

I am glad they are sending you a new buckle!!!
I also wanted to say your babies are adorable!!! I love the expression on your 4 year old's face!! So cute!!

that sounds like a great solution. Hope it’s pretty easy to put on (but, not too easy):thumbsup2
