What do you think? (honest opinions, please... if you think they're overprocessed, please say so, or any other thoughts - comments/suggestions on poses, etc.)

Thank you! I will go back and see what I can do.. It is a lot darker than the others, certainly.

Your daughter is GORGEOUS. Seriously beautiful!
And these shots are great. The color is excellent and so is your use of light to highlight both the mask of the face and the catchlights in the eyes. Very lovely job.

I can't comment on clarity or sharpeness because these are a tad pixelated and too small to make that judgement.

#1: My only CC is that you chopped her knee and then centered her face. The composition would be much stronger if cropped somewhat like this (tell me if you want me to take it down.).

Oh and I have to admit... the dirty feet REALLY bother me. :)

#2: I love this pose, but you chopped half her hands and gave her way too much room above her head. I would like to have seen a closer crop that incorporates more of the rule of thirds. I have this thing with this pose and the butt... show it, or don't, just don't crop it half-way or else it makes it too wide. So, while I prefer the full rear view with the fingers, since the original doesn't have it - I cropped it like this to give more of a rule of thirds and a closer crop.

#3: Looks great. Looks like you might have a few blown pixels on the left side of her face, but overall very nice.

#4: The pose and set up are fine, but the lack of light on her face and in her eyes just isn't working. I honestly would move on to another picture.

#5: Great! :)

Well, you asked for honesty, so...

If we number them from one to five,

My favourite is the number five, bottom right (green top). Number four - the one at the left in the red top is also beautiful, but maybe a little dark on the face.

The post-processing in number three is very good, very professional - I've seen that "look" done often, and this is well done. But it doesn't esspecially appeal to me. Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned.

Number two, I'm sorry, but I think she's saying "does my bum look big in these?" !

Number one is lovely, but I really do feel I'd prefer to have avoided cutting off the knees!

Please don't be annoyed with me; they are still all beautiful photographs and your daughter is a beautiful young lady. Technical imperfections come and go but these will still be photos I am sure you will treasure.

regards,
/alan

Here's my take:

#1 - as stated would work better if knee wasn't cropped. Also the dirt on her feet really shows.

#3 (looking down) - her face seems a little washed out.

Thank you for honest opinions! Really, the remarks ya'll have given were exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah, the dirty feet... sigh. I wonder if I can Photoshop that so it looks better. Will go back to work on that one. I love her expression in that picture, so i guess I'm willing to live with the cropped knee.

Chikabowa, I do like your crop better on #2. I'll redo that one. Good points!

I don't know why I like #4 so much. Maybe because it shows some of her personality better than the others. I'll see if I can lighten her face.

Again, thank you. This is the best way for me to learn!

Actually, I rather like the dirty feet. It suggests that her beauty is natural rather than carefully manufactured.

Ok, here's what was originally #4. I dodged her face in Photoshop. Is this better? I'm wondering if it looks a bit "off"...

And I cleaned up her feet (sorry, Alan! it was bothering me. I was working under the "maybe nobody will notice" notion. ;) And I recropped. Definitely like the recrop better.

And I burned a bit on #3 - It kind of makes her face look grainy:

Nice shots but I have to agree with the dirty feet. After the touch up they have the blur that doesn't look right.

I think you should throw in a different facial expression or two.

just for you!

I took about 280 pictures (:scared1:), and we loved about 40 of them. She is extremely photogenic. That sure helps!

I'm going to slightly disagree with others comments on the cropping...

always leave extra room when shooting and processing, because when you send to print, you will need to do different crops for different size prints..

all have already been cropped to the size that I wanted them printed, so at least I don't have to worry about that. :)
