I think we're going to have a nice girls' day out.

Too fun!

My DD is 11, too. We went camping over Labor Day weekend alone -- we had a great "Chicks' Weekend".

I've had her come to Bring Your Child to Work Day for the last two years -- she hates the work (yup, not just a day off of school!) and loves going to a "fancy" sit down restaurant for lunch (Grand Lux on Michigan Avenue).

Have a great time!

Totally OT but I thought of you earlier today, Punkin. My friend in B'more posted the daily Groupon on her Facebook which was for Pole Dancing fitness class and I remembered your tag and the fact that you are in that area and laughed! :rotfl:

Sigh... I miss MD. No pole dancing fitness centers here in the South.

That's funny, we're off today too!

It's not an election day here (though we do close for those) but a teacher workshop day.

DS is playing outside with his friend from down the street, though. Hanging out with Mom is apparently not in the "cool zone" this month.

Well, I got half a day in with her until she made plans with a friend. They are outside playing right now. We did have a nice breakfast together and we talked. We hardly ever have the time to do that.

I'm in high school and we have the day off too. I have no idea if it's for voting. Our school has professional development but I think the other schools might be poll locations.

I don't care what the reason is. I'm happy for the day off :rotfl:

Having a son that is now a senior I am making it a point to just sit around talking to my kids for just even trivial matters. I am a SAHM so am used to being here all the but sometimes I am not always engaged with my kids since I am here for them and they are older. I am realizing I should really find out what they are thinking no matter how big or small.

My girls were home sick yesterday. My youngest went to bed the night before saying she didn't feel good and woke up saying she didn't feel good. My olldest gashed her leg open and had to have a tetnus shot and wasn't feeling so hot. She came down and flopped on the couch and just laid there while the NFL network was on. Technichally they could of made it through the day at school since they perked up latet in the day but sometimes I just don't want to push it and like them home with me.
