In January, I am taking DD and five (or six) girl friends to WDW to celebrate her 16th birthday. After numerous suggestions on the board, as of today, plans are in place. The only thing left is the rental van. We have a Grand Villa at the Boardwalk reserved. First time for that. At her insistence they will be having tea the afternoon we arrive. The surprise is an Illuminations Cruise that night. Then they will be let loose on the parks the next day. Forgive me if you are in the parks that day and are subjected to a gaggle of giggling teens. We have a mass meet at 50’s Prime Time for lunch. May our server harass her unmercifully.

I do not know what I was thinking when I suggested the trip. We shall see if I survive and am not institutionalized. Wish me luck.

It sounds wonderful! What a lucky girl.:goodvibes
They will get to be grown ups and kids all in the same trip, just what teens (and all of us for that matter!) really want.
I'm sure you will do a lot of smiling - for so many reasons....
Enjoy!

I have always read your trip reports and wondered sometimes at where you get your patience and tolerance to "run with the young ones" ;) And now you are giving your DD a wonderful gift. Best not show this to my DD who wants her WDW week for her college graduation WITHOUT us. And BTW, how sane will you be spending time in a van with 16 yr olds? Brave man, but WHAT A DAD!!!!

I'm doing something similar for my girls' sweet 16, only just 1 friend can come along. Since we have to fly, it would cost a small fortune for me to take very many! It will be just me, the b-day girl, and her best friend. Only 3 more years til the oldest turns 16!

We gave both of our kids a 5 night DVC studio stay with friends as their high school graduation gift..since they both love disney.....got for it your daughter will have a ball.....
I agree.....what a dad...my hubby as much as our daughter is his princess...would never take her and her friends to disney....

We did the same thing a few years ago when our DD turned 16. I took her, 4 of her friends and a couple of their moms to Disney for a week. We also stayed in a grand villa at the BW. We all had a blast. The girls had a great time running around the parks and I enjoyed time with the moms. The other thing I did was set up a photo shoot (Gifts of a Lifetime) for one morning in the MK. The girls all tried to dress in the same colors and the photos turned out great. It is something my daughter will have for the rest of her life. Other DD turns 16 in two years so I guess I will be planning hers next.

Hope you all have a great time!
