As a mother of another college student, I would have your daughter really think about why she wants to be in a sorority being able to vocalize that to you. Have her learn about each of them and the pros/cons of each and really think about it. Our daughter was really interested in them her first year as well, but once she looked at the fees and got to know each of the sororities more up-close the only one she related to she had an older friend in who explained how political/money motivated this particular chapter was. She decided that it was not for her and instead has opted to become very involved on campus through many other avenues (also serving on the board of many) which still allows her tons of community service projects and networking within her chosen field. Perhaps your daughter will find the perfect sorority for her or she may be like ours and once she gets to know more and takes a step back realizes that there are other options that would make her just as happy.
