Thanks for posting again. I hope all is brought to an acceptable conculsion and that the stress is relieved soon.

All the best to your DD.

Ursula

I think that's great news and I'm glad to see that you were able to put some of the anger/stress behind you. Have a great time at the parks and good luck on the rest of your trip. In a few years you can look back on this and laugh, hopefully.

I am glad to see you are able to update us on your daughter's condition. I truely hope that sheis feeling better and that her leg heals quickly.

I know I am beng completely selfish here but I really hope that what happened to your daughter was just a freak accident. We go to Disney very soon and I just can't imagine a trip without a ride on Splash Mountain! It is going to be hard enough with POC closed. :guilty:

If there was a second incident then I am betting they will close down SM until the flaw is corrected. Maybe they could just close the front seat of every log? :confused3

Anyway, I am glad you are still able to do some of your planned trip. It is upsetting when children get hurt and it worries a parent so very much. Take care now and try to have a few smiles today! :)
I think someone posted regarding a 'lost toenail and lots of blood' at a different area...perhaps TL?? But, I don't remember anyone posting a second incident at MK.
Disneyfun...glad you guys are getting out there and enjoying the parks. Hope it's not too hot/humid yet.

That being said, I'm only 5"2, not 5"11... That's the tallest 14 year old girl I've ever heard of!!! Wow!

I am sorry I missed the first post. I hope you are able to enjoy the rest of your trip and that your DD is fine.

However, being a tall person myself and knowing that my DD will even be taller than me, I must respond to this comment. I am sure I will not word this correctly but I will try. I do not think commenting on someone's appearance is very nice. I mean, that is just as insulting as saying, "That's the fattest 14 year old I have ever heard of!!!! Wow!" . My DD is tall for her age and plus size, so maybe I am just more sensative on this issue or maybe it is just the way you worded it that ruffled my feathers.

I'm glad though that some posters were supportive and compassionate.

I'm so glad too that you're able to at least get out and about and I hope that your SD's foot starts to heal very soon. If your SD is using the wheelchair, they can be very hard to get accustomed to and whoever's doing the pushing, if it's hot, be sure to put a bit of powder perhaps on the hands or on the handles of the wheelchair to avoid blistering. Also your SD might need a cushion underneath her to avoid discomfort from sitting in the thing all day.

Anyway, good luck, perhaps you should call your doctor/physio back home or whoever the correct specialist is and set up an appt. now for when you get home so she'll receive care as soon as possible to help the healing.

Hugs to you and yours and I hope you can have a great holiday, despite this scary and distressing start.

Not wanting to be heavy-handed, but the topic is an update stating the family are getting on with their vacation. Since this is a second thread that branched off of a closed thread, if it becomes about speculation or turns into another bash-fest about peanuts, weight, height, or any other off-topic gripes, it's buh-bye!

Yeah, my wife lost her pinky toenail on Castaway Creek @ TL, not to be confused with Splash Mountain @ MK :) This was nearly three years ago, not anytime recent. Just an accident, nothing to see, move along :)

I just wanted to add that I skimmed all 23 pages of the last post, and I must say I am really disappointed in the DIS. Not one picture of the front seat in the logs posted! :lmao:

OP: Again, I'm sorry to hear this happned to your DD. If this happened to my little girl, I'd have torn apart the log myself! People @ MK would have said "that was the fastest fat man I've ever seen" as I rushed to the park to help her.

Queenmum, if you post your questions on a new thread you are sure to get lots of answers. :)

Posting it within another person's thread is sort of like 'hijacking'. Out of courtesy for the original poster here, could you re-post on your own thread? Everyone will be happy to help! :thumbsup2

Could everyone else please also keep to the OP's topic as a matter of courtesy, then look for Queenmum's post if you would like to reply to her?

I don't understand where I need to post my question about the property?

To the OP:

Kudos for getting along with your trip as best you can. As someone else said, great job making lemonade outta lemons.

Regardless of any "fault" on any party's behalf, every day is precious and is, to a large extent, what you make of it. Some people would let it ruin and overshadow their time, which is unfortunate because it's hurting no one else but those people. If you guys end up enjoying yourselves, that's a great thing for all of you.

I hope that you enjoy the rest of your trip, your daughter has no permannent injury, and this just becomes one of your family's funny/interesting stories many years from now. It often happens that way, thank goodness.

At my wedding, guests lifted up my wife and me in chairs (separately) and danced around with us, in a traditional way. They didn't tip my wife backwards a little to help her stay in the chair, and as a result she fell straight down, and landed on her feet, in those high heels. She was stunned but fine, but it didn't slow her down during the reception. It was an evening affair, and we stayed at an airport hotel. When she woke up on the first morning of our honeymoon her ankles hurt and were very stiff, and walking was difficult (any time she slowed down or had to turn). Yeh, it made the first two days of our Caribbean honeymoon a little trying at times, but nearly 15 years later we laugh about it all the time; actually, we laughed about it even while it was happening, something about my trying to convince her that it must have been God's will that she wouldn't be able to "get away from me" during the first two days of our honeymoon .... :rolleyes1

Hi Queensmum,

You need to use the New Post button. It's golden/yellow, at the top left-hand side of the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies page, just above the list of topics, which is where you clicked on this link to get to this topic. But don't confuse it with the Reply thread (same color) you find when you open a new topic (like you do when you want to read this topic).

You will be starting a new thread (post) of your own, asking any questions you have. If you have questions about other things besides the theme parks, you should post each separate topic on the appropriate forum (questions about restaurants on the Restaurants forum, questions about Disney resorts on the Disney Resorts forum, etc). The questions you posted here can be posted on Theme Park Attractions and Strategies (this forum, just not this thread).

Glad to hear that y'all are moving on and enjoying the rest of your trip. I still hope that you are able to square everything away later - but at this moment, you should just have fun!!!

Hope y'all have a magical day in the parks!

:faint: You described that WAY too well. I felt kinda faint reading it! lol Oh the pain, the pain, the pain and in heels too!! I'm rubbing my ankles now as if it happened to me :lmao:

just wanted to thank those for their support.

we are up today now at 830 am and are going to try and do mgm.

This thread was not started to bash disney in any way, it was to let people know that an accident happened.

I am not out looking for a free trip as some of you suggested, or quick to hire a lawyer.

Apparently there is a design flaw and something happened. I am just letting everyone know what happened and i myself dont even know what to do. I was looking for advice on where to go.

apparently this is on another board as well now and it states it happened again to another yesterday, but ended up worse......losing a toenail and bleeding. I dont know if thats true or not, just what i read and was directly to see.

ill try to update later today when we return.

thanks all! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I for one was quite shocked at some of the replys to this on the other thread. I feel badly for your stepdaughter. Not a great way to start her first trip to Disney for sure. And in my opinion judging for as many times as your post lists that you've been to Disney I am suprised at anywone would think you were in this for a free vacation. I kind of got that you were angry for the lack of concern from Disney. I would be upset as well. I hope the rest of your trip goes well for you and your family.

Here's a second one for you......

My DD is not even 13 yet (four weeks to go) and is 5'8" already. I think she grew about 4-5" this past year. (and she wears a size 11 shoe not because of
width but because of the length of her feet)

However at this rate she could easily be 5'11" by 14.

Have they recently changed the ride vehicles? Why are people getting stuck all of a sudden after all these years? :confused3

I was 5'11" at 14. I'm 6'0" now, so I was pretty much fully grown by then.

I hope she has a great day at MGM and the whole family can make the most out of what is left of your vacation.
