I am so glad to hear that you guys are getting out and making the best of things!

Is your DD feeling better today? Hopefully they have her on some nice pain meds, so she isn't completley miserable.

Hope that she heals fast and you have a wonderful time for the rest of your vacation!

Thank you for the update - please keep us posted.

Here's a second one for you......

My DD is not even 13 yet (four weeks to go) and is 5'8" already. I think she grew about 4-5" this past year. (and she wears a size 11 shoe not because of
width but because of the length of her feet)

However at this rate she could easily be 5'11" by 14.
:offtopic: My DD(17) has been 5'8" since she was 12-13. Her foot size is 9 1/2, she has stopped growing I am sure.

I was 5'11" at 14. I'm 6'0" now, so I was pretty much fully grown by then.

Sounds like you better take the back seat in the log from now on, CV.

:First off, I see that the original thread is locked and I apologize to the moderators but feel there was an important fact left out of all this that people should know.
My daughter is currently doing the Walt Disney World College Program and her roommate works on Splash Mountain and was involved with this whole incident. The important fact left out is THE GIRL ADMITTED TO STANDING UP DURING THE RIDE JUST BEFORE ONE OF THE DROPS!
Enough said.
.

This was posted in a thread which has now been locked. It poses alot further questions

1. Did the OP know this when he was posting, because if he did than that really makes me wonder??? Teenagers do stupid things especially when they are by themselves

2. I think that if this information is correct, the irony is that Disney might still take care of the family in some way, and they really don't deserve anything. Its just ironic since the post was started since Disney was not giving him "something" right away. Turns out he most likely deserves nothing.

Maybe disney should contact the paper just liked the OP wanted to...the headline could read "Unsupervised girl stands up on ride, hurts foot, parents angry because Disney won't give them free stuff, right away"

I just wanted to add that I skimmed all 23 pages of the last post, and I must say I am really disappointed in the DIS. Not one picture of the front seat in the logs posted! :lmao:

Someone posted a link to pictures in the original thread somewhere. The front of the log was partially obstructed by the top, but you could get a good idea. The only bars visible were the handle bars. :)

The thread that was locked is: "My DD was injured on Splash Mtn-Last night..." posted by Disneyfu1.

The thread that you got this quote from was posted by wdwendyd NOT ME. Title of thread is "New Info about Splash Mtn - foot stuck incident" I don't know how you got my name but it should be taken OFF :furious:

Lets get it right mis quouting is not good :furious:

That being said, I'm only 5"2, not 5"11... That's the tallest 14 year old girl I've ever heard of!!! Wow!
I was full-grown, 5'9" (a hair under) at age 12.

OP, thanks for the update and I hope you have a great rest of your vacation. Here is some pixie dust coming your way. :tink: pixiedust:

Can somebody give me a link to the closed thread? Now I'm curious as to what the big fuss was/is.

Have they recently changed the ride vehicles? Why are people getting stuck all of a sudden after all these years? :confused3
I am sure not every single incident is reported on Dis. We have had accidents at WDW and I did not post here. I am sure what happened to her daughter could happen again. Sometimes it takes an accident to discover a flaw.

I am sorry for what happened to your DD. In no way is this your fault. It seems like people get defensive when anything negative happens in their fantasy land. I hope all goes well with the rest of your trip.

I don't have a link but if you right click on the OP's name you can view all posts by that person. It's the second thread down that with the lock obviously!

Before you make a judgement about those of us who asked for clarification on what happend, you may want to read this:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1101821

Now we have two versions. Pick and choose as you see fit. I just wanted to post it as a reminder that there are often two sides to a story and perhaps rushing to accuse one 'side' or the other of any debate is a rather futile exercize until all the facts are in.

I'm still not sure what happened (not that my opinon matters!). Hopefully the end result is, the family went on to enjoy their vacation and the young lady's foot heals up quickly. :)

To the OP: Wow! That is pretty dangerous to be standing up on a ride such as SM.

Your DSD is tall and I am sure when she stood up, what probably happened, she probably SLIPPED, attempting to QUICKLY sit back down AND in all the
times I have been on SM, the foot area of the LOG is ALWAYS so incredibly wet.(The seat area as well, for that matter)! DSD probably slipped with SPEED hence her foot/shoe getting caught in whatever this nailed down piece is in the front of the log.

Yes, and a while ago, another OP posted that her family was on SM and the kids also on the ride with them (not part of her family) were "gesturing" at the spot where the picture is taken and NO photo for them as well.

Did the OP happened to know if there was a picture of that log the OP's kids were riding in that SECOND time that evening?

And I can imagine when the OP first stated that the DSD was crying out loud, that must have been scary as well as painful for DSD to SLIP back down into the seat and jam her foot. OUCH!

I hope that the OP will come on here and Post an UPDATE with the info as to DSD standing UP!

MomRek, he has posted a couple of updates on the other thread here - his most recent post is on page 4 and he states that his SD was not standing up.

I think the issues may be summed up by stating that the father, the OP was not in the park at the time he had left his teenagers there. He states, I guess relying on the story that his children told him that his daughter never stood up on the ride and merely braced herself and had her foot slip under a "bar" in the log. Once again father did not arrive at the scene until much later.

We then had a dis member post whose daughter is working in the college program and rooms with one of the girls who was working the ride at the time. She claims her roommate told her that the daughter admitted to standing up on the ride.

That's the simplest way I think it may be stated

So now I am really confused! The OP's DSD was NOT standing??? I just finished reading this Thread and thought that info was factual!

:confused3
The OP on this thread said that his DSD did not stand up.

The OP on another thread said that her DD's roommate was working at Splash Mountain at the time of the incident and that the girl who was injured had stood up during the ride.

So, you can decide which version is factual.
