For her November Bday she got an Ipod touch. All the relatives thought Itunes cards would be a good Christmas gift and she ended up with just under $250 in cards. Any ideas on how to spend that much? Or where to sell the cards for cash?

There are hundreds of thousands of apps to choose from. IMHO it sounds like a lot of money but $250 isn't too much....she'll find plenty of games and utilities to buy! LOL
I don't believe the gift cards expire so they'll last a nice long time though so don't lose them, or input them on iTunes so they'll all be recorded and ready to use.

Itunes cards do not expire and with most songs costing 1.29 now I'm sure she could spend it all in a year. I still have some credits from my card last year.
There are websites that buy new gift cards but they only give you 80% of face value. can yo return or exchange any of them at the store they were purchased at? Not sure if that is allowed with gift cards.

You could go to plasticjungle.com or ebay to sell your gift cards. It is pretty easy to spend a lot on Itunes. My DD got some cards for X Mas and they were gone in 5 minutes lol

My DD can go through $50.00 in a day's time. She loves music and enjoys finding new stuff for her itouch. She would love it if she ended up with $250 worth of itunes cards. There are so many things you can download from itunes. This might be a good time to expose your DD to some of the music you like. It could be a fun thing for the two of you to do.

DS got $225.00 in Itunes for Christmas. He wouldn't dream of parting with any of them. As other posters have said, it will go faster than you think.

Why would you sell them? They never expire and there are always new songs coming out that kids want to put on their iPods. Sometimes they want the entire album. DD has put over 3000 songs on her iPod in just two years.

I don't know how old your DD is, but she'll use those cards in time -- trust me.

I would let her load them and then you won't have to worry about funding her music or app collection for a good while. I love when DD gets itune cards as gifts because thats one less thing I have to fund and they will go to good use.

Just tell friends and relatives she is set on itunes until the balance goes down a bit. This way they don't buy her more for bdays etc.

If they are smaller amt cards you can save them and regift for bday presents for her friends.

My son could go through that easily with his Touch. He's already spent the $60 in cards he got for Christmas. At $1.30 a song, $60 is like buying 5 CDs. I have an Itunes card and I haven't used it yet but I'm still putting away Christmas dishes. :) I would let my child do some research before she decides she doesn't want that much in Itunes. Her friends can probably help to show here what she can buy...books, apps, games, music.

Both DD and DH could easily spend that much on iTunes without blinking. But when DD gets a gift card she won't use, I frequently buy it from her and either use it or give it as a gift. If she doesn't want that much in iTunes cards, can you buy some from her and give them when she is invited to birthday parties?

Wow... what apps are your kids buying? She got about $35 for her birthday with the touch and still has about $12 left in the account.

She is 11 and we have been following freeappalert.com daily to get free apps. So trying to figure out where $250 will go?

My oldest son buys a new Itunes card every couple of weeks, either the 15.00 or the 25.00 and it's gone in a few hours LOL With all the new music always coming out, the game downloads and apps...it's gone in a flash. He goes through PS3 Network cards just as fast...I'm glad he buys his own.

She can buy books on tape/Ipod using the card. They cost more than tunes, but if she has to read some for school, it might come in handy.

My DD is 12 and got $100 in iTunes for Christmas. She has purchased about $10 in apps and about $30 in music since then. Is your DD not into music? When you factor in tax the $250 could last a few months and then you won't have to buy anything for her!

I would love if DD got that much in iTunes cards.

I would load them all to itunes and then she'll be set for a while. My DD14 spent her $25 gift in an hour earlier this week and yesterday she says, "mom, I forgot about a song and video that I wanted to get!" It really goes faster than you think.

My kids both ended up with around $150 each for their Ipads/Ipods. They buy music, movies, games and apps. They will use and enjoy every penny of that money. I have to slow my 11 year old down - after a bad spending experience with my credit card attached to his Itunes acct, he has to run all purchases thru me now. The 14 year old is very responsible with his Itunes money!

Wow, I'm 19, and really into music. I've had a IPOD Touch for 2years, and have only spent a dollar on Itunes. I don't think I'd ever spend 25 dollars in gift cards. I just go to the library, get the CD I want, and rip it into my itunes.

The newest and most popular songs are not usually at the library when kids want the songs. Older music, yes. DD has recently gotten into the Beatles. She checked out several Beatles cd's from the library. But the new music that they want now? No way can you find that at the library.

OP, don't feel like you have to spend it all now or even in a few months. You never said how old she was, but if she's like most kids, as she gets older, her music choices will expand and she'll want all kinds of music. Those gift cards will come in handy.

The only way you would not really need them is if you get the songs illegally, which is apparently pretty easy for teens to do these days -- hence the problem with the struggling music industry.

That would be a huge waste in our house. We have $15 from Christmas 2009 still sitting around unused. My daughter got over $60 for her birthday and she wound up regifting most.

She doesn't buy songs or apps from Itunes. My DH and DS make their own apps and "test" them on their devices.

We use tons of free apps/free songs so 250 would last all four of us probably ten years!
