DD didn't make the school musical cast, BUT...

Her English teacher called last night and said he recommended her to be the Director's Assistant because she is so responsible, dependable, a positive up-beat person and ORGANIZED! (HE SHOULD SEE HER ROOM! ) She jumped at the chance! This was really a morale booster as she tried out for BB and didn't make final cut, and then the musical. All of that following on the heels of the growth testing was bringing her down a bit, but her teacher is truly a mentor and he is taking care of her! I also am glowing from his comments as DD's elem. school constantly told us she would never be able ot cut it in JR. HI., that she was WAY too disorganized and a daydreamer who wouldn't be able to function at the fast pace. They are the same school insisting DS has an l/d (clinically ruled out ) Oh well...guess she showed them! I can't wait, the musical is BYE BYE BIRDIE...I love that one!

That is really thoughtful of your dd's teacher. Good teachers can make a world of difference in our kid's lives.
BTW, my dd's school did bye, bye birdie last year as their musical and it is a play that's a lot of fun, I really like some of the songs, especially the one Albert sings to Rose "Talk to Me" is the name I think?

I don't usually come to the Community Board, except for two threads, but this caught my eye. Good for your daughter! The same thing happened to my DD, but not for the spring musical - for the fall play. It's much more competetive and as a freshman, it's that much harder. But, the director (who also happens to be her AP History teacher), recommended she be asst. director and she had a reat time. And for those who believe all good things come to those that wait, she was one of five freshmen girls who did make the cast of the spring musical, which is in three weeks.
