guinea pig, without calling for an "okay" first. She thought I wouldn't mind.

At least everything was included in the package, but I need to check if there's food for it.

So we have a new pet She's black and white and DD wants to give her a new name. Any suggestions?

My daughter named hers "Mrs. Piggy." I loved that pig!!!

I loved our guinea pigs too. They are so smart and so communitcative. DH called them our "living compost piles". They love to snuggle but watch out for, uh, accidents.

My concern is the variable temperature in here. Yhe living room gets extrememly cool from the window ac. Her bedroom has no ac and one window and no outlet near to plug in a fan to draw cool air at night. She has a fan by her bed, but it'sn ot much of a help when its so hot and humid. We have a spare bedroom next to ours that I use as a dressing room. We've put her there because there is ac in our bedroom and the door to pass through is open to allow some cooler air in there. It's warm, but not too hot, maybe 75-78 degrees.

She has a week or two to prove that she can properly care for it. She must use her allowance (from helping with chores) to pay for supplies.

they stink.......well seriously they need to be kept up on their bedding...their urine is wicked strong......and when they cuddle do not let them nuzzle at the back of your neck....they tend to chew on hair and I knew one child that had a small haircut in the side area.....have fun cause they are cute pets.......
when snickers wanted us or cogsworth.....they would screech this noise and tell us ....come in here and give me some more water or food.....they are something else......

We had guinea pigs when I was young. They used to cry to be held. That is the one thing that I remember.

My daughter bought a new hamster about three weeks ago and we now have 8 hamsters thanks to 7 new babies, LOL

I have to see when we need to separate them by sex so I don't end up with 50, LOL

My friend had a guinea pig a few years ago that was black and white. They called it Cuddles or Domino

We had a guinea pig given to us when the owners didn't want it any more. It's name was Winston Churchill. However, Winston was a she, so we changed her name to Winnie Pig.

ANGEL is not black and white like I thought. She is more calico, many colored. DD has had her out of her box most of the afternoon.
My neighbor tells me she (my DD) loves that animal.

Wow! If DS did that, I'd send him back with it to wherever it came from. He's 10, and that's a repeated conversation in our house. He wants a GP, I say no way! Two dogs are plenty.

In a movie I saw last night there was a pig named "Moo" I thought it was the pretty cute....the movie however (cough*Uptown Girls*cough) was horrible

We have gone round and round about John-Cole and a Guinea Pig......Why is it so hard for an 11 year old to understand the concept that a Guinea Pig in a house with 8 cats (who have the run of the house) is NOT a good idea!

The GP is in a plastic storage container, with the lid cut out and replaced with screening. Her food and water containers needed holes poked (drilled with a rotary tool). DD cleaned her box over the weekend, after we spent $15 on supplies- food, shavings, care book, cleaning solution. Angel is mostly quiet. The most noise is when she drinks from her water bottle. She actually bites on it and lets if swing back against the side of the container - thud. She needs something to chew on, other than the cedar shavings. Any suggestions?
