DCP start date conflicts with end of reg. college semester

DD just opened her dashboard about arrival dates for FA. The only two arrival dates are either at the same time of her last week of classes or during her finals. Does anyone have any thoughts on if this can be worked out?

Are the DCP staff available on the weekends?

i may not be the best person to answer this because i don't know much about the DCP but its disney so i'm sure they will be understanding about this.
i don't see how they can expect your DD to miss classes/exams.

Fall Advantage isn't for everyone due to the early start dates. Unless there are start dates offered after your DD completes her exams for her role, I don't know that there is anything they can do. All she can do is contact them and see if she has any other options.

When she applied it said mid-May - early June. She thougth she was safe. But the only available date is May 11. The other date is the 18th which is doable but not offered for transportation. Due to the orientation classes DCP needs to get started I doubt there is anything they can do unless they add a later time. Not holding my breathe. She is heart broken. I would think they could move her to a role that starts in the Fall but I doubt it will for transportation. Hopefully she can get in contact with someone on Monday. Hoping this will have a happy ending. It is going to be a long weekend.

Good luck! I am sure the weekend is going to be high stress for you all. Fingers crossed they are willing to work with her. Not that they can change anything on their end training wise but maybe they do have another week they can switch her to or would be willing to work with her on Fall or if she is willing, another role. My DD is there now on an extension. She applied spring of her senior year and it was her plan for four years. She put all her eggs in one basket and luckily she got in. It's been an incredible experience.

Would she be able to take her finals early? It might make things a little more difficult, but if her college is able to help her out with that, she can still sign up to go in May. Just a thought. Hope everything works out!!

The only date for transportation move in is May 11. She still has 1.5 weeks of classes in addition to finals at that point. And she would probably have problems with one professor, who happens to be her depatment chair, who is very much against she doing the DCP program. Not sure why?

I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'm hoping they can move her to the fall instead of the FA. And with extra pixie dust that she could still work in transportation. She is not holding her breathe. As much as she would love transportation, she's open to other roles.

Monday is her long day at college, of course. She babysits 3 children from 7-9 AM. Drives to the college for her first class at 10 AM and has classes and labs until 6:15 PM. She is going to try and get this sorted out during her only half hour she has available.

May 18 lists which roles that date is available but at the bottom of the list it says except transportation, and a few other roles. The university might bend for a few days but not 2 weeks. Plus there are two professors that just don't bend on things. They would still be the holdup.

Well, boo! I'm sorry she has a professor making this hard on her. I don't understand why that professor would even have a say. It's your DD's choice and career path. How ridiculous.

Fingers crossed DCP is able to help with arrival dates. I'm so sorry she is having a rough time.

My role is transportation also, and I had my choice of dates from May 11-June 8, my check-in date is May 26. I hope that she can work something out.

She did talk to Disney this morning and they said before moving to a different path to wait and see what pops up on Tuesday to see if they offer different dates.

i did all of my check in process on February 27, and all the dates were available. I'm thinking that all the late dates got snatched up right away. maybe they will open up more spots.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe if there are more FA DCP transportation that also can't make the 11th. There will be additional dates? We'll see what the next 24 hours will bring.

DCP notified her of her acceptance last Thurs., March 5th.

I truly think Disney will help her out- she may get a different role but I don't think they will turn her away. My daughter had the reverse issue- she was supposed to stay until January 5th or 6th. She had to move home, pack and be in her dorm on the other side if our state by the 4th. She talked to them and came home on the 1st with no problem or strikes against her. It's school- they will work with her. Also- she was FA and started June 9th last year......It will be ok!!

Some dates will open back up. She should keep checking every day and see. If she wants, there's a facebook group for fall/fall advantage where there's lots of questions like this asked.

She called DCP today after sending her email about her situation. DCP emailed her back asking for a copy of her college finals schedule. She followed up with another phone call to make sure they got the email since time is ticking away (Thurs. is her deadline). She spoke to a very nice woman who helped sort everything out for her, and gave her the date while she was on the phone. My DD checked and it has been posted to her dashboard.
