I will be arriving at DCP in FL in January and wanted to know if it is difficult to get around without a car? I have to leave my car home for expense reasons and need to know what to expect.:car::car:

I flew in and therefore did not have a car(didn't have one of my own and it was too far to drive from where I live) all of my roommates had cars, so from time to time they would give me rides. But mostly I just used the bus system, and while it's not the most reliable system, it's actually really good and goes to pretty much everywhere you need to go(except for target...which was where my roommate and I preferred to do our shopping ha ha)

I survived 6 CPs without a car. It is definitely doable

I actually have had a car on all three of my CPs. But to be honest, I hardly ever use it.

It does save a lot of time going to/from Walmart. And sometimes when I'm running late to work it's pretty convenient. But honestly, I can count on one hand the amount of times I've driven to work this semester. And the bus takes you to Walmart. Plus, you'll probably make friends with people who have cars.

I know I'm not really in the place to say this, but, like the others said, I think you'll be fine without a car. :) Plus it'll be nice to not have a gas bill, or friends who text you all the time saying "Can I have a ride?"

I went through my CP without a car and survived, and not having to pay gas was great; however, a car is very convenient. You don't have to wait for the bus and can go everywhere the bus doesn't. You will find that you become a good friend to those who have a car. Having a car also allows you to go to work later than those who have to catch the bus. Speaking for Magic Kingdom CPs, I had to catch the bus over an hour before my shift so that I would make sure I wasnt late (MK is only about 20 minutes from the complexes):headache:. Still speaking for MK CPs, having a car or getting a ride is essential during the peak season. The buses pick up CPs who play in the park before those who work, so some of these buses are completely full before they get to you.:headache:. Also, when there is an available bus, there is a stampede to get on the bus and not have to wait another 20 minutes. :sad2:. The buses are packed completely full and it is uncomfortable if you are not lucky, or fast enough, to get a seat. With this being said, you can definitely get through without a car and I did that, but it is very convenient to have access to one.

My son said on his next CP he would probably want a car just for shopping and fun. As for work, it was better to take the bus due to traffic. If the buses couldn't get him there on time due to traffic it was not his fault and his workplace would call the transporation center and verify.

i flew down at the start of my program, which was in january but then decided that i hated waking up at 430am to catch the 5am bus to be at at work at 730, lol so when i flew out to go to a concert in PA(march), i flew home and drove my car back down. it was great! until my battery died and i was stuck using the bus again my last month(july) there haha but overall, i think it helps to have a car. that way when you want to play in the parks, take the bus and when you have to work, drive! and when you dont have enough gas/want to save gas, the bus is there. some days i just didnt feel like driving and would rather just sit and watch the scenery and listen to music haha

I didn't have a car and like most people said, it's doable, but I had a friend who had a car who since he worked TTC, he was off before I was and would pick me up. Trying to get on the CP bus at Westclock at closing was insane. There were times I wish I had a car, but you can get by without one.
