My sister is looking into getting married on board the DREAM on October 2011. Has anyone else on the board done a DCL wedding (bride/groom or participant)?

If so, any thoughts/tips on the process?

You should ask this over on the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons Board, there are a lot of DCL Brides there.

It's tricky because they use a spot on deck 7 on the Wonder and Magic that doesn't hold a lot of people. On the Dream I haven't heard what they do. But that has limited what some people had hoped for.

Also everyone needs a passport. You can't use outside vendors like you could at a regular place.

One of the biggest dissapointments I've seen is you can't keep your flowers.

There is quite a few brides over on the weddings board who have been married on DCL who can help, of course none of them yet on the Dream, but I am sure they have a wealth of info!

Heres the short version, since my fiance and I are getting married in Oct on the Magic.

1st. You need to reserve your space at least 1 year in advance. There are 3 spots available to be married on the ships. 2 on the ships at different times, usually deck 7 aft, unless there is inclement weather, in which case the ceremony is moved indoors. The 3rd is on Cast Away Cay.(Id imagine that the Dream and Fantasy are the same)

2nd Current pricing is 2500 for the onboard, and 3500 for the beach.

3rd By law you will be legally married,(sign the marriage certificate) prior to the ship leaving port. The ceremony is just that a ceremony as the ship captains cannot perform a legal marriage at sea. From what I understand it has to do with what country has legal jurisdiction.

Anything else, feel free to ask.

I'm already married but this is such cool info! Too bad I can't help plan someone's wedding on CC...I should make one of my friends get married on CC so we can all go

They do vow renewals also for the same prices. The only difference that I know of is that you dont have to do the marriage certificate signing on the day that you embark.

I called disney weddings a few days ago about weddings on the Dream but they said they are currently not allowed to book any weddings past September because they don't know what the prices will be after that. He couldn't tell me about locations on the Dream either, but said someone would call me as soon as the info was available. It looks like prices will be rising. I am hoping they add a few new options onto the wedding package.

What is included in the $2500 fee?

Renewing onboard sounds fun :goodvibes

If you go to the main Disney website and go to the Parks tab, you should be able to find weddings. They have all the information as to what the minimums include. Also there is a board here for Disney Weddings and Honeymo9ns and there are lots of Disney brides and DCL brides chatting about everything Disney Wedding!

I was married on Castaway Cay last summer and can't say enough good things about it! There is a great thread on DCL weddings over on the Weddings boards so I would definitely check that out. There is lots of great info and pictures there. It is important to make contact with the wedding planners early to get the date you want.

Just to clarify not everyone has to have a passport. If you do a closed loop cruise (leaves and returns to the same port) that only visits the Bahamas and Castaway Cay a birth certificate is enough. A passport would be nice to have but not required. We had guests with only a birth certificate.

I'd be happy to answer any questions!!

I called DCL to inquire about a vow renewal on the Dream in Oct of 2011 and was told that onboard it's $1500 and on CC it's $2500 and they don't have any info yet as to where they will be held on the Dream.

One of the senior ships officers to perform the ceremony,(They cant guaruntee the reg capt to be either onboard or available. Its an incase thing) cake topper, music,(you can supply your own, they supply the person to play it), dress steaming, Palo reservations for the night of the event, bridal bouquet, cake (choice of) ,I beleive a changne toast, onboard coordinator, and Ill have to look for the rest.

That sounds a lot like the old prices. They were changed probably 6 months or so ago to the 2500 for the ceremony/vr and 3500 for the beach ceremony/vr.Both the VR and ceremony are identical, so they changed the price to reflect that.Matter of fact in the email that Brianna sent me, shows that its called an Onboard Package and Beach Ceremony. That was told to me by Brianna, who just transferred out not long ago from DCL weddings.Theres only 1 person on Disney Property that handles the DCL weddings and she is NOT in the wedding pavilion, like we would think. And they have absolutely no clue as to what the ship(s) does. (Ive been there in person looking for anything on DCL weddings. They have nothing.)All they do is to collect your info and pass it on to Shanda.

The person that you would need to talk to is

She has all of the up to date info.

eta: I have edited out Shanda's info, not sure that it should be posted in a public forum. I would say that for anyone looking for info on DCL weddings/VR's to go thru the proper channels of contacting Disney Fairytale Weddings.
Thanks,

The person I talked to was a man, and it was only about 3 weeks ago, so he must have the wrong information. One of the other things included in addition to the things listed above is a $100 obc for the couple. Unless that was wrong too. :confused3

I wouldnt be surprised at the wrong info. When my fiance and I were talking about getting married on the ship, and due to the fact that we live less than 45 minutes from Francs at the wedding pavillion, we just went over and asked for a booklet, video anything that had prices or what was included. The woman I talked to over there, made it sound like they were dictating the terms of our wedding to us. AND they had no info, other then a half page pic of 1 of the ships, and a couple on deck with a banner of get married on a Disney cruise or something to that effect. I wasnt the happiest camper in the world at what they were telling me, and after pointing out that it seemed like they were dictating the terms, etc, and youd think the Wedding Pavillion of all places would have info on a DCL wedding she finally gave in and told me that they have no clue as to what happens. She took our info, and passed it on to Brianna who called me as we were leaving property, and couldnt have been nicer. I have several different emails from Shanda who took Briannas place when Brianna left for another area of Disney, with the latest info on the ship including upgrade pricing.(Such as different flowers different champagne etc). The problem is that is in a locked pdf file and I cant copy it to the board.I know I managed to copy it at somepoint, I just cant find where I did it.

The 100 dollar obc is correct. Theres several other things that are included, and if I cant find where I posted it the last time, ill just type it in.
