My GF and I are in the very preliminary stages of discussing a wedding and are considering the DCL. We had a couple of questions and Disney has not been much help since we are more than 12 months out. Question 1. Are there any differences between a Wedding and VR other than the legal ceremony at the terminal ,and $1000:) . 2. There is also very little info about cake cutting or any other options. We were hoping to have some type of small reception for the 20-40 guest we expect. Has anyone done this? Would anyone mind sharing the rough costs? We figured we may need a bigger cake and some type of private or semi-private reservation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are getting married on the Cruise in November....I would be happy to answer any quetsions....Also check out my planning journal, I may have answered some already!

Goldeelox9 I tried to reply to your PM but my post count is too low.

Goldeelox9 I appreciate the help. Everything you are doing sounds wonderful. I did see the ring before and assumed it was a custom Disney ring. We are not far from you. We are in Delaware. We are trying to decide between DCL, Swan and Dolphin, and Punta Cana. We just wanted some type of reception for ALL our guest not just 20. I may ask you some more questions if you don't mind? Thanks again and congratulations.

My GF and I have pretty much decided on a DCL wedding, thanks in no small part to Lisa :bride:. The issue we are discussing now is whether to go with the wedding or VR package. We want to do the ceremony on the ship so we we would have to do the official wedding at the terminal anyway. My thought is do a JOP in our home state for $120(ml and ceremony) then the VR and she can have an extra $1000 to spend for the cruise or the following week in WDW. She is not sure if we would be treated the same or would it lessen the experience. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Of course I have a thought....I would totally go for the VR! I would save that money! Oh and there is a secret Outside Deck on Deck 7 that would be perfect! We considered the VR, but I wanted the beach so we went with the Wedding package!

Just realized i missed this. Sorry. We did check Disney but didn't think they provided as much info. Thanks to a fellow Delaware resident.:)

Hello there fellow Delawarean! I know what you mean about not much on the DFTW site about cruise weddings. I find so much more info here on the Disboards.

Thanks pjstevens. Burghfan111 is my DB & yes fellow Delawarean. the sites are great. We are in the process of planning our dcl wedding. Even though we are probably looking at 2010 since 12/09 is pretty much booked still a lot of planning since our guest list is getting long. :cool1:

Hi Poohbear, another Delawarean!!! Yea for our little state! I wish we were able to have family on our cruise vow renewal, but just not going to work. But as someone said on another thread, it was just hubby and i in the beginning, so it's fine for just the two of us for our renewal.
