I went on icruise.com to look up sq footage of each category- you have to fill out the required areas to get there but it is very informative.
The Johnny Rockets surcharge is something new starting next week on the mariner- they have always charged for shakes- butnow you pay for shakes and to eat there! The JS sq ft is 268 but has a larger balcony that DCL- but it is costing me the same amount for this on Oct 31 as I paid for the cat 4 over July 4th!
As for the coffee- you pay for the premium( acutally comes from beans!( but not expresso/cappichino) but can get the coffee that is liquid and water is added to make coffee is free but tastes bad. This does not actually pertain to me since I don't drink coffee but it is just another charge for something that should be free!
I am very excited about Mariner though- just for a change- but I would have been upset if I hadn't read different boards and not known about these charges beforehand!
Thank you so much for your report!!! We were talking about booking a RCCL for April 2005. I changed my mind. I decided with that DCL would be better for the age of our children, 11 & 9. Maybe when they are teens we will try RCCL. Your information was very helpful!!
You just can't beat the mouse!!
I don't know how I will make it through the next year!! It seems like it will take forever to get here!!!
THANK YOU so much for such an informative report. I have been agonizing over whether I should change our upcoming DCL cruise to RCCL, and I can now make the decision to stay with DCL.... WE'll try RCCL in the future, when the kids are older.
I know you posted well over a year ago, but thank you again.
