Dcl travel insurance

Hi everyone!
Thought I'd post this here too as the Dis has never let me down.
I'm new to DCL (have cruised on carnival and RC several times) and am in the very early planning stages of a November trip. I'm hoping all the knowledgeable members can help me with what I'm sure are the first of many questions I will have.
-if one person wants trip insurance, does everyone in the group need to purchase it? There are 5 of us and a few would be more comfortable having it and some want to go without.
-is the insurance available through DCL good coverage and is it considered expensive?
-would it be better to buy it through another company?

Typically, purchasing insurance through a third party provider is less costly and covers more than purchasing cruise line insurance.

I don't know how DCL handles if only one person wants to purchase it - are you all in the same room? If you're in different rooms, each room is it's own reservation, and can decide whether to purchase or not.

Third party sites will provide insurance coverage for whoever wants it, whatever coverage.

Use a travel insurance comparison site to find various policies that may work for you.

DCL insurance does not cover your flight unless you booked it with them. Disney World insurance does, it is strange. So I usually go with outside company since I am flying in.
