DCL Survey About Serving Starbucks Brand Coffees & Products

I like Starbucks but I also like the Cove. I love all the unique teas they have at The Cove and find them far more interesting then Starbucks. But it wouldn't change how often I go there since I go to Starbucks at home all the time. You definitely can currently get a chai latte on the ships, I get them every cruise. They can make all kinds of variations of what's on the menu.

Chai is tea...

Starbucks' chai for the lattes comes in a box as concentrate http://store.starbucks.com/tazo-chai-tea-latte-concentrate-011017406.html . I am suspicious how much of it is just chai tea since they sell that also... tastes very different IMO. :scratchin

I'd be OK with the change... they did it in the parks already, so why not the ships I suppose. I do not think Starbucks is the best coffee (by a long shot) but their fancy drinks are consistent whereas Cove Cafe is hit or miss for me. I highly doubt they'd keep the card though for my free drink after 5 purchases... >:|

I guess we'll be giving up the free drink.

As long as I can use my Starbucks card or app to get my Rewards points I'll be ok with it.

We've always loved the iced coffee and specialty coffees at the Cove Café so if Starbucks will be replacing them, so be it. I don't think that Starbucks is more (or much more) expensive than the Cove Café prices. If they do change it, I hope the ambiance of the Cove Café remains the same and just the coffee provider changes. I wouldn't want to feel as if I were in a floating Starbucks store. :coffee:

Hmm I like Starbucks. I would be ok with the switch as long as the treats remained complimentary. However, switching over to Starbucks makes it less unique in my opinion. RCCL already has Starbucks on some of their ships.

I don't drink coffee but I enjoy a lot of the other drinks they make, and love that they are at the parks. I would definitely be tempted to spend extra money if they had Starbucks stuff on board.

If it has the free wi-fi Starbucks usually has...
But I like that Cove coffee is different. You can get Starbucks anywhere and everywhere, but you can only get Cove at Cove!

Totally agree -- a caramel macchiato is the same everywhere. I had some great drinks and some pretty crappy drinks from Cove Cafe across the Fantasty/Dream/Wonder. It is much more "real" coffee now, but I like the Starbucks sugar bombs more. :thumbsup2

Oh no! I was so happy to see the Illy espresso in Cove and it doesn't feel like that brand has been there for more than a year or two.

What I was really surprised to see on my Magic transatlantic cruise last month, was the presence of all the bottled beverages in Cove. They were pushing the bottled Illy drinks and some sort of bottled protein/energy drinks. The teas listed on the menu were all some sort of iced concoctions. The loose leaf brewed tea was still available if you asked, but it wasn't printed on the menu.

It will be what will be. I enjoy the Cove and coffee it offers and the change from having Starbucks at home. That being said, when I go in the Cove I usually get a brandy, so I am good. LOL

I doubt that free wi-fi there would ever happen, as wi-fi is a huge moneymaker for DCL. But I totally agree that the Cove coffee and the Cove itself is different, and that's why I like it. It still feels like DCL to me. Starbuck's would not. I also would not even be surprised if, becoming Starbuck's, they'd start charging for those currently "free" goodies . . . because that's what Starbuck's does and seems to be the direction DCL is headed.

There are many "famous name" products and places I enjoy, but I hate that Disney (parks, cruise line, films) is increasingly in the habit of either partnering with or buying out other companies instead of "keeping it Disney" ORIGINAL. I'll pay the premium for DCL/Disney, but not if they keep chipping away at their original product and offer what I can get any time at home or nearby.

Oh I so hope NOT. I call it Staryucks. If they do this, they just lost money on my spending extra at the Cove. I believe they don't have Nesca-crap on the ships anymore so I'll drink the free stuff. I was good for a Cove coffee 1 - 2x's per day but if it's Starbucks, no. Just no.

I feel left out that I'm not in a focus group. Coffee or not. Interesting if they were to make the change. Does anyone know where Disney sources it currently? I know they do some cold brew and drip coffee, would be a shame if those went away for mass produced starbucks.

Disney has teamed with other companies and used sponsorships since the beginning. Kodak, GM, GE, etc. Teaming up with Starbucks is no different that what Walt did when he started the theme parks.
