I remember someone asking about the prices for these cruises going way up and many people posted not to worry because DCL wouldn't cancel cruises for no reason. Well, today DCL shows that they can do whatever they want. I just got notice from my TA that the Wonder's cruise have been cancelled from 12/9/12 through the end of that year. WOW!!! Can't wait to hear the reason for this one and what they are going to be doing instead. Didn't someone say they saw the Wonder listed being on the port schedule on the East Coast somewhere? Guess this has to do with the delay of the release of 2013's cruises for the Magic & Wonder.

That bites. DCL has been up to something however. They have yet to release the 2013 schedule for the Wonder and Magic. What we do know from another thread is that the Wonder is showing up in Grand Cayman in late 2012 (while she was still showing cruises on the west coast). She can't be in two places at once so something was coming.

Hopefully this means we are getting closer to the release of the 2013 plans for the Magic and Wonder. I do hope they do more than just refund what you have put down so far. Seems they should at least be providing some kind of future credit to ward off any bad press.

Yes, the Wonder is showing in Grand Cayman weekly starting 12/19. Looks like a Panama Canal crossing on 12/9 and the doing Western Caribbean. Interesting. What home port will she use? You have to assume that like other lines, DCL found that even if the ships sailed full, they were not getting the revenues on board that they needed. Kids sail free promos have to hurt in the long run. as well as people not booking shore excursions through DCL. A lot of factors go into the bottom line, and the bottom line is always number one.

This has me so stressed right now! I really want to do a PC cruise but the timing is not ideal. I guess I would be okay if I could get back home before Christmas but I don't know when the kids xmas break is yet and probably won't know until May or so. I'm assuming the PC cruises sold out quickly in the past??

You will get your deposit money back no problem. There is possibly an additional OBC being offered if you move it to another 7 night cruise.

Nothing out there that I want to take right now. If they agree to let me move the money when the dates come out then it will be an incentive only if the OBC is high enough. I have a trip in April and was going to try to wait to book 2013 on board if it's not too high.

I booked directly with DCL. Will they email me?

Sorry. I know you booked early while rates were low and moving even with an OBC won't be nearly as attractive.

Hope when Disney offeres 2013 for Wonder and the Magic that something clicks for you.

I am looking forward to finding out what they are doing with the Wonder and the Magic. It seems like they have had much more trouble selling the MR cruises. Maybe we'll see a new East Coast port?

Guests who are currently booked on one of these sailings will need to move their reservation to another available sail date of a 7-night or longer sailing. If guests move their reservations by 12/22/11, they are eligible for an onboard credit, in addition to any that they may already qualify for. For the 12/09/12 and 12/16/12 sailings, guests will receive a $250 onboard credit. For the 12/23/12 and 12/30/12 sailings, they will receive a $500 onboard credit. If guests do not move their reservation by 12/22/11, they will automatically be placed on the 12/02/12 Mexican Riviera sailing.

Disney has set up a special phone number to handle the changes to existing reservations: 1-866-325-3905.

So now, I'm hoping that they release the 2013 schedule for the Magic and Wonder so that people can choose.

Thank you for posting this.

Bummer. I am sorry and a bit sad. I was hoping they'd sat on the west coast in 2013 :(

Guess that's not good news for Alaska in 2013. Looks like when my family is ready to go on such a cruise, it'll be with a different line--like Princess or RCCL.

Wow, I was really hoping they would keep the Wonder on the West Coast and try out some other Pacific Coast cruises. This makes me want to go ahead and book the Pacific Coast cruise in September 2012 even more now.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that...but I was thinking about Alaska 2013 as well. Subbing to keep up to date.

Disney has to really rethink their itinerary for Alaska if they want to create a presence their. Even a die hard Disney fan like me, am looking at other cruise lines for Alaska. Here is just my 2 cents.

1. Tracy Arm alone is not sufficient if you want to do justice to Alaska. They have to figure out a way to go to either of Hubbard glacier or Glacier bay.

2. They have to increase their port times. Alaska unlike other destinations is all about ports, so they better figure out extra time in juneau and ketchikan.

3. finally, they need to start offering cruise tours.

Does anyone know if the Wonder is due for dry dock at this time? If so this could be the reason for the cancellations. I have not seen or heard of one though. :confused3

The price for that 12-09-2012 cruise was really tempting, it was so low...but now I'm SO glad I didn't book it. Whew. Dodged a bullet there.

As for Alaska, we booked with Norwegian on the Pearl, the summer before Disney went. At the time that we booked, we didn't know if DCL was going.
I know we missed the Disney characters, and the overall Disney "feel"....BUT.....we had a great time. It's so beautiful up there that it's impossible NOT to enjoy it, no matter what.
I'm not pushing another cruise line....
I'm just encouraging anyone who wanted to see Alaska and missed the chance with Disney, to do it anyway. You won't regret it.

What a bummer... I really wanted to do Alaska with DCL. At first I was against it but after reading all the trip reports. I really wanted to go in 2013. I'm wondering how much of the violence in Mexico played a factor in cancelling on the West Coast.
