DCL sailing year round from Galveston in 2027

They won't. The Adventure has a five-year commitment to sail out of Singapore.

I've seen this mentioned several times. I wonder though if the commitment is specific to the ship or could it be for any DCL ship?

Under a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board agreed to collaborate to homeport a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively in Singapore for at least five years beginning in 2025.

I'm not sure if that means "this particular new ship" or "a new ship." Even if the agreement allows switching out the Adventure for another new ship, that the Adventure was designed to meet the market in south Asia, that would be unlikely to happen.

Basing the Dream or Fantasy in Galveston is very plausible. Basing the Wish in Galveston after the next 2 ships launch (and having one of newest ships do 3 and 4 night cruises from Port Canaveral) is feasible. Basing the Adventure in Galveston and basing one of the new Triton-class ships in Singapore seems like a pipe dream by the Galveston port representative.

I wonder what ports they would do? I really wanted to go out of Galveston on the magic but loathed the ports mostly progresso.

Given the distance there are not many better options for shorter cruises. If they offer more 7-night cruises then there are more port options to chose from.

I think a 7n that goes to places like Belize, Cuba, Panama, or Costa Rica would be better than just Mexico.

I would be shocked if Disney tried to add Cuba.
They are waaaay too risk averse for that political hot potato- especially now.

Panama & Costa Rica are likely too far for a 7-night Galveston Cruise.

I could see that. Disney usually has one of the newest ships do the 3/4 night Bahamas route.

Wonder did it forever until the Dream came on.
Dream did it forever until the Wish came on.

Now with more ships, they can switch things up more often (if they want to).

Panama & Costa Rica are likely too far for a 7-night Galveston Cruise.

Belize is feasible.

There was a 2023 case that fined cruise companies out of America for traveling to Cuba (Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and MSC ), so I don't think it's an option for cruising out of the U.S. currently. I would love to go there some day though.

It looks like there are cruises planned to go there in 2025 & 2026 on several cruises lines. I think there are some rules involved that make them qualify as an exception to the Cuba Embargo- but not sure of the specific requirements involved.

When I did fathom to Cuba over Christmas 2016, there most definitely were rules. The line provided excursions - one free, one for pay - in each port (Santiago de Cuba, Cienfuegos, Havana) that met the People-to-People requirements. You technically were allowed to tour on your own if you chose, but you had to keep careful records of what you did, who you were with, etc. in case the State Department asked you for proof. I can only imagine that the requirements are even stricter now given...everything.
