DCL removed verandah tables from Dream

On the info from a PP, we will move our stateroom table /trunk outside if we cannot get our room steward to replace the verandah table if it's missing.
Thinking the same thing. Not sure if this is going to be fleet wide or not but we are booked in the extended aft balconies on the Fantasy next summer. One of the highlights of this room in the past for us was ordering room service and relaxing on that big balcony. We have 2 rooms and we both order and share our food. Definitely need the table. My kids still talk about that night from our past trip. Super relaxing. Will be highly disappointed if there is no table.

I heard that chairs would be removed from Cabanas next because a child can stand on them and drown in a bowl of soup. After that, a ban on all silverware and only plastic sporks for eating. Next, say goodbye to hot drinks and enjoy your iced coffee in the morning. DCL will soon be leading the pack in child safety, justifying another round of price increases.

It would be great (and very helpful) if some adults cruising soon without children would ask their stateroom host if they can have a table put on their verandah and then report back the response on this thread. I'm hoping against hope that at least adults can successfully request one. :confused3

From a FB friend who is sailing concierge soon.

For those asking about the tables on the verandahs, I received the following from shoreside concierge this morning:

Thank you for reaching out!

While we are always reevaluating our policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our Guests, at this point in time there has been no change in the standard furnishings on our stateroom verandahs.

Occasionally, some of the verandah or stateroom furnishings may be removed in order to be upgraded or refurbished. Currently, we are aware that some decks on the Disney Dream have had their verandah tables temporarily removed for resurfacing. Other decks on the ship – including Concierge decks 11 and 12 – still have the standard furnishings in place. Although those furnishings are always subject to change, we have made no major changes to them at this time.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with!

Or maybe those who sail with young kids would have the table removed. Why do two adults need to have the table removed from their verandah?
DCL is likely doing this to reduce their own liability. The parents who are proactive enough to call & have the table removed for safety reasons are not the same parents who are letting kids stand on the tables. But those irresponsible parents are out there- plenty of them, unfortunately. So DCL might be trying to protect itself from lawsuits and the horrendous bad publicity it would get if a child actually went overboard. Their security cameras have propably recorded a lot of near misses.

I don't think it's any coincidence this is occurring on the Dream, which is the most popular ship for new/infrequent cruisers.

Remember that person who lost his thumb in a door. Maybe all doors need to be removed.

They should give the option of having a table and chairs or not and have parents with minors sign a legal agreement about balcony supervision. Ridiculous to remove them all.

Or something like no children under 10 (I figure that is tall enough to see over the rail for most) may be booked into verandahs.

It is interesting DCL is saying it is for ship wide refurb (does it take 2 months to refinish tables) but room stewards and guest services on board are saying it is for safety.

Excuse me? My twins were 5, 6, and 7 in three consecutive years on the DCL family verandah room and we somehow managed just fine, thank you.

Just making a point of how ridiculous it is.

But if it is a legit safety concern, they COULD set restrictions like that. Not saying they will, but they could.

I would see offering an option to have it removed upon request. ..

That would be the most logical thing to do. Makes much more sense than removing them all period or bolting them to a point that may not be useful for people who want to use it to hold beverages or food if the chairs are moveable.

We sailed on the Dream on January 30 and did not have a table (8022) and asked about it and were told they were removing tables as they broke and were not going to replace them. Eating breakfast on the verandah was fun!

We will get crafty and find something in that cabin to perch those coffee cups/ wine glasses on. I'm not worried. pirate:

We were on the Dream last week. We did not have a table on our verandah. We wondered what happened to them.

We are a party of two adults so it does not appear to be just those with kids on the reservation.

It is a pain when you order room service to eat on the verandah and have no table to place your food/drink on.
