Well, here I am surfing the web while Fox news is playing on TV... and my ears perk up....guess what was just reported.....yep....it was reported that Disney Cruise Line no longer requires pants on their cruises.....well in their main dining rooms. The report showed pics of the ships.

I didn't really think it was network news worthy but there you go....being reported on Fox news!! Maybe a slow news day!

MJ

You mean we can go in our underwear??!!!;);):lmao::lmao:

I matched my attire to the theme of the restaurants when I was on board (well except that Pirate night ended up being on EG night! So the floral had to stay behind...)

Speaking of matching attire to the venue, should I be getting my Mexican dress out for Carioca's on the Magic?

If my facts are straight, Carioca's will be a Brazilian themed restaurant. When I think of Rio, string bikini bottoms and little to nothing up top comes to mind.

IMO, I don't feel this attire meets DCL's MDR guidelines.

Brazilian? What happened to the Three Amigos in Sombreros? Isn't that where he came from? I could very easily be mistaken since its been ages, but I thought that was from Mexico (unless just Birdy is from Brazil?)

Regarding the smoking, if DCL hence smoking area for smokers like outside bars etc they should only be for smokers but for non smokers to go there and complain again if you don't like the smell of smoke then stay away from the smokers area

That's what bothers me. No smoking on verandas fine but add more Dsa's and non smokers keep your lips zipped. If there is more smoke wafting on decks from the dsa too bad. You wanted this. I'm not a smoker. I quit over ten years ago but I always consider this old adage: beware what you wish for! Lol

I would like some lifeguard coverage at the pools at least during day hours like 10-5 ish.

I am not a smoker. And smoke bothers me.. I much rather smokers be able to smoke on their verandahs then in public areas... maybe desinate the back half of the ship rooms to smokers and non smokers can have the option of either being next door to a smoker or not. I get choked up walking into a bar... probabky why I stay clear.. its not the nicotine in the air just the smoke I am the same way with bond fires and grills.... will view from the distance...:) if I were a smoker I would find it a pain in the rear to go to the smoking area when I am ready for bed and need one last puff... or wake up having to leave... it doesnt make it fun... I get were the non smokers are coming from but really I dont like the alternative. ..

I am a little sad about the dress code only because it was the only time I can force my husband to dress for dinner... I try not to sweat the small stuff while on vacation... after all if your bothered by what everyone else is doing your not vactioning your ruining it for yourself...I ll have fun regardless if my tablemates are dressed up or not... its not the clothes that makes the experience its the people in the clothes....

Well, people wanted to wear shorts and DCL acquiesced, maybe this is just a few years down the road. ;)

OK, I have two comments to make, and I really mean them in all sincerely. We have cruised on DCL a lot...actually need to update our ticker for 3 more. I am only mentioning this to gain a bit of credibility if I come under attack!

1) I love cruising, I love the Carribbean, I love the islands, I love the ship, I love the decks, the servers, the food, the music, the ambience, the crew...I love a true vacation from laundry, cooking cleaning. OK - obviously I am truly deliriously happy on board. I really don't even NOTICE what people wear to dinner. I could care less. We don't dress up. Luggage concerns, and we refuse to pack dinner jackets when we escape our MN winter and said at Xmas. if you dress up, or wear a kilt, my daughter and I love seeing it, but again, we could care less. Are there really people writing here who get perturbed by what other people wear? And, if so, can I ask if you are maybe a formal or wealthy family?

2) Lastly, and again not trying to start a fight. I hate cigarette smoke. My problem. But, every single time we book a veranda we always wonder if we are completely wasting money bcs we have been next to heavy smokers whose smoke is so nasty to us. Can't even open our window.

So, we waste the money to pay for a veranda that we can't use. I know a lot of people say they won't book if they can't smoke. Are there really a lot of you out there that are really serious about that being a show stopper? I am curious about the numbers with this...it seems to me Disney usually crunches numbers
When faced with this type of dilemma. Do us die hard smoke haters really outnumber smokers that cruise Disney?

Over50, yr question is kind of what I am wondering about. Would seeing people in golf shorts at dinner really upset you so much you would stop cruising Disney?
Would not being able to smoke on yr verandah really make you stop cruising Disney?

It seems like a lot of people answer yes to that, which is very interesting!

Yikes! I just found out about the smoking ban on verandahs. While I'm happy about it in a way. I dropped my stateroom to an inside since I can't handle any smoke.

Now I'm worried that on the decks it will be way too smoky for me. I get asthma so fast with just the tiniest bit of smoke. As it was last year I didn't spend much time at all on deck as I was worried I was on the smoking side or that it would blow towards me.

I guess my mom won't mind too much since she quite smoking :), but that is why she booked a verandah room.

Any reports on whether you think there are more smokers on the deck now?
