I was looking through our DCL cruise photos over the last 10 years (Magic in 2012 & Wonder in 2013, 2016, 2021) and thought it might be fun to post some photos of the ships, activities, dining, staterooms, etc... that are not the same as they are today. To start it off, here is a photo of the lobby on the Magic in 2012 with 2 sets of bannisters.

I can't post a photo of it, but back in my more penny-pinching days (this is an exaggeration) I carried on a not insignificant amount of mini-bottles to avoid paying for cocktails!

but, to add to the pictures... how about this old chandelier on the Wonder? Took that back in 2015.

To me, one of the biggest changes DCL ever did was not to allow you to bring on alcohol. We did many cruises back in the "good old days" when it was perfectly fine to bring on your own bottle of rum (or whatever your particular poison was...).

I don't recall that and I cruised Disney in 2003

Great thread!

I also rarely imbibe day to day, and its even more rare for us to finish a bottle of wine, but this made us so mad we did cancel a cruise in 2015 and sailed on RCCL instead. My husband enjoyed having a rum and coke on the verandah as we sailed away from ports when he was able to just pour it himself. More importantly we were worried about handing over our expensive bottles of rum we acquired on islands that we can't get in our home state. He was worried they would be broken (so far we haven't had any issues there, just the pain of not being able to pack the night before and leave our bags out since the bottles need to go in our checked luggage). They should have started with the next round of bookings IMO. It felt like the only thing we could do to let them know we were unhappy was cancel (and yes, we did tell them why and no, I did not actually think it would change a thing besides make us feel a little better).

We've only been sailing since 2011 so not *that* much has changed that I have evidence of. One thing I did enjoy was the upper area in Cove Cafe on the Wonder that is now the concierge lounge. Sadly this badly taken photo is the only photographic evidence that I was on the other side of the glass at one time. :rotfl2:

I knew I was a teetotaler about a month ago when I was shocked at the controversy over at Carnival over discussions that they were going to limit their unlimited drink package to 15 drinks a day.

Some cruise friends of mine in the following photos. You may have sailed with them, too.
