. We were thinking of ordering a sheet cake with a picture we have of the Magic at CC put on it and add the little plastic DCL figures we have (after we clean them of course).
We are doing the same thing with the picture sheet cake. I am trying to find the perfect picture!;)

Go to DCL picture of the day and find one there...there are some really great ones!

Was just looking there and have also decided to print a bunch of all the different ones out and tape them all over my walls.Like print out 15 or so large ones....including some of my family.

Also going to make take my cork board and put bunches on there(just my family and friends) and put up in my Bathroom so when they are getting rid of all the Alcohol out of there bodies they will have something to look at :upsidedow

I aldo e-mailed David from HP and asked him where the packages are being shipped out of so to get a better idea for us. I live in Ca. and if shipped out of say Fla. it will take longer to get here than if living in Florida.

I wonder what all the other people that are not DIS members and are on no boards are doing for there partys????

Ohhhh so much to do and sooooo little time!!!!

Do you know of other boards where there is a DCL House Party discussion? I haven't been able to find any, but I haven't searched through all my saved Disney web sites yet, either.

I just made Bingo cards and a list of Bingo words to use, all DCL related. Instead of B I N G O across the top I have Journey, Terminal, Ships, Castaway Cay, and Beaches. Each column has 5 words in it, and I made up a list of 95 words that can be used on the cards. Filled in random words on each Bingo card and will cut up my list and draw words until someone yells Bingo! and they will win the money jackpot or a prize, haven't decided yet.

I have been eyeing up a few pics from that thread. I have a bunch from my cruise, too.

I made a 12 x 12 photo book, at Shutterfly, after my cruise. It has close to 400 pictures in it. Needless to say, that will be in constant circulation at my party. I also uploaded about 400 pix to DVD. I just ordered that from Shutterfly (I don't have a DVD burner). It should be here by Wednesday. I was going to print a 20 x 30 poster print of my WELCOME ABOARD sign but haven't done that yet. Funds are sorely limited on my end so I am trying to keep things in check. I'm still debating on what kind of food I'll serve. I'll probably go with appetizers and easy finger foods. I love the DIRT/SAND idea, but I am not sure I want to deal with spoons and kids glopping it all over my floors. :lmao: :scared1: I might just make it for our family the day after! :lmao:

these are the pictures I was going to decide between for the photo cake.

As someone who has owned an iPod for three years and never taken it out of the box, is on dialup, and got an iPhone for Christmas and still trying to figure THAT gift out (i.e. why I got it and how to use it!) can you explain this CD burning process to me? I had to download iTunes to sync the phone (14 hours and 40 minutes on dialup!!) so I have that--do you just buy these songs and then burn them onto a CD? I'm pretty sure alot of those songs, and the horn sound, aren't on iTunes--where do you get those? And do you have to have a label program to do that kind of artwork for them? I would love to do these, but I'm wondering at .99 cents a pop at iTunes about cost and also about the time factor in figuring all that out if you aren't already tech savvy. Any 'splaining you could do for me would be great.
Thanks so much

I got an iPhone for Christmas too and just updated the software on it. My son told me I should be checking for updates regularly. Who knew??

Any way, if you own music CDs you can upload them to your iPhone. This would be less songs you'd have to pay for through iTunes.

Here is a GREAT dessert recipe - kid friendly - and FUN - totally perfect for this party!!

The recipe on the site is for "dirt" - but you can modify it and make "sand" instead - I actually did this for my son's pirate pool party this summer - the recipe on the kraft site has then in individual cups, but, I made a double batch - and put it in a sand pail - it was a HUGE HUGE hit!! The parents loved it as much as the kids - and I put swedish fish on the top to decorate.. SO cute - and delicious - and, you can use the fat free variation if you wanted - that's what I am doing - UGH - love to diet.. NOT!!!!

I wanted to paste a link, but was not successful in pasting the link directly to the recipe- so, I copied an pasted the recipe itself...

If you want to see the whole thing, go to:
www.kraftfoods.com
and type in DIRT - you'll see it there.

----------------------------------
Prep Time:
15 minTotal Time:
1 hr 15 min
Makes: 10 servings, about 1/2 cup each

2 cups cold milk
1 pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling 1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
15 OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, finely crushed, divided
10 worm-shaped chewy fruit snacks POUR milk into large bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min. or until well blended. Let stand 5 min.. Gently stir in whipped topping and 1/2 cup of the cookie crumbs.

SPOON into 10 (6- to 7-oz.) paper or plastic cups; top with remaining cookie crumbs.

REFRIGERATE at least 1 hour. Top with fruit snacks just before serving. Store leftovers in refrigerator.
Dirt Cups can also be served frozen. Prepare as directed; freeze 3 hours or until firm.

Sand Cups

Prepare as directed, using 35 NILLA Wafers and JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling.

I've been making these for years! I serve both dirt and sand at every party we have. For the dirt, I found using the 100 calorie packs of chips ahoys works great. I tell everyone the chips are the pebbles in the dirt. :lmao:

Once the dirt and sand are prepared, I pour them into small plastic pails and serve them using the pail shovels and have worms all over the tops. All of the "kids" love these.

I vote the one with the palm trees hands down :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for your cake that is

along the lines of dirt cups...

My friend made blue jello with gummy fish added to them in small clear dishes/cups for her son's birthday. They were adorable and the kids loved them.

A crash course in CD ripping and authoring is probably beyond the scope of any message I could post. :confused3
It sounds like you are mostly invested in Apple products, iPod,iPhone, so if you own a Mac for your PC then I would stick with Itunes for the whole process of burning files to CD and creating artwork for labels etc.:thumbsup2 However, If you own a Windows based PC with a CD burner, I use Nero 7 Ultra Edition and Ulead Movie Factory 6 on a Windows Vista system to burn new audio CDs from files I rip from my other CDs, downloaded mp3's, and wav files. The songs I buy from iTunes I burn to CD and then recapture as wav files using Total Recorder. I use Meritline EZ Label Xpress for label creation because I can buy those labels cheaply at Frys Electronics nearby. I modify the artwork pictures in windows paint or MS Office Picture Manager (size, color, and proportions) and then add text in the label program. I captured the ships horns from a video i had captured the audio from using Total Recorder. (You can find the horns on several videos on YouTube)
There is a website called VideoHelp.com that is a great resource for how to do a lot of this kind of stuff.:surfweb: Dial-up is what it is and I don't envy you. I know I probably just confused you even more, but, it takes awhile to get the right tools and learn how to use them together.:teacher:
Good Luck!:wizard:

I hope I didn't already post this. :)

I am going to try to do a lot of make-ahead food this weekend. One thing I am making is a Bacardi rum cake, which can "marinate" in the fridge for a week. It's a Cake Mix Doctor recipe, which I will post if anyone wants it. For some fun little door prizes, I am going to pick up a few of the small Tortuga rum cakes like you can buy in Nassau. There is a store in my neighborhood that sells the little ones for $5.99 (should have picked up some extras in Nassau, d'oh!).

I am also going to make Crab Delights, which are very easy to make ahead and freeze and then pop in the oven at party time. It's a cheesy crab spread on an English muffin quarter. Will post the recipe if anyone wants it. :goodvibes

If you wouldn't mind could you please post the rum cake recipe and the cheesy crab spread? I think my friends would love them both.
Thank you and Happy Partying !

I will be happy to! It will have to be this evening b/c I am at work and don't have them with me, but will post them when I get home. :)

must post immediately when someone gets the package!! I can't wait!

We are having a cold rainy day tomorrow, so will be perfect for preparing the make-ahead DCL party food!

UPS was here already but no DCL Party Pack. I was excited for a minute!!

They have added a Family Fun Island Party Planner and a "How to Draw Mickey" download. :thumbsup2

Morning/afternoon everyone :surfweb: ....Received this from David in regards to where the PP will be mailed out of....

Hey Robin,

We believe the packages are shipping out of Florida.

It would most likely take in the 4-5 day range for the package to get to CA, if indeed we are correct about the Florida shipping location.

Sincerely,

David Smith

David has been very helpful and by the way he is not the one that gave me the initial package info. Rum cake sounds good!!!!

I will be making up my menu this weekend or maybe even tonight. We bought a 56" Panasonic Plasma TV and have had it a month and it stopped working. The repair man was here yesterday but seems he needs another part sent to him so may be till Tuesday to fix.

You ask why am I telling you this  well because I need it for my party and videos...and also because I have a big screen in my bedroom(who wants to watch a 19" in there bedroom alone) and the family has migrated in here so they may be using the comps and stuff that I need to research.

Keep your fingers crosses that they can fix it. If I did not have a 3 year warranty I would have insisted on a brand new one but first will give a fix try and it not than I will request they replace it.

I am hoping David is wrong. Disney uses a "packing house" in MI for their other promotional materials. If it ships from there, mine will come Monday, otherwise I have to wait until Tuesday.

Thinking I might have to stalk:rotfl2: the UPS man on Monday morning
