I lived in AK for 20 years so I know what you mean, how about a "Do something FUN with your dividend check!"

Get some of the info. you asked in your post here. I love your chart idea. I think if people see the visuals of what they can get and the lifetime memories it helps alot! We too have to save 2 years for a cruise. When we weighed out the cost of a 7 day vacation with rental car, food, entertainment, rental car, spending $$ etc... the difference is not much and this is taking a trip going outside the USA vs DCL cruise with plane fare! Good luck!:goodvibes

Most of my friends who I have convinced to go cruising are glad I did. When I started talking about cruising they thought of Love Boat or it was something you only did when you retire. They were turned off really. When Dh and I went on our 3rd cruise some started wondering what the big deal was and got on board, pun intended :) . Now we talk cruising all the time and our circle is getting bigger. Most have done a DCL cruise, but some have done other cruise lines, the biggest thing they like is the pampering!

I'm just going to talk about our cruises and the one we are taking in March. We will have 4 families that are first time cruisers that will be there. I will be doing some special raffles for them with items they can put in their cruise box. I'm hoping the excitement we will be generating about our upcoming cruise will motivate some of my other guests to book now in hopes of cruising in the future for the new ships. (I'll be talking about those a lot!) Since I'm on the west coast I'm hoping we can get a group of us to book when the dates come out for the new ships!

Got Disney I want to come to YOUR party! Woooo Hooooo! Fun! Fun! Fun!

.[/QUOTE]

Ok, those are good...I'm not sure about the life boat drill that is from a different cruiseline...but I think I see where you were going with it...it's a boring routine (but very necessary) and it was funny that they were falling asleep at the end. But, if that is the only one you can find (and can't find one from DCL), then I say use it.

I absolutely LOVE the countdown with the horn. I think these will all add a nice touch to your party.

And, my view on the host package is this: We were all chosen out of thousands of entries to host this party - remember how lucky/honored you felt when you found out you were chosen? And at that time, none of us knew what would be in the host package. Whatever they are sending us is FREE, and I'll take FREE anytime. I personally was going to try to have some type of party in January, anyway, to help liven up those mid-winter blues, so this was a HUGE bonus thrown into my lap to be able to host this House Party event. So, that's it...that's my view.

HEY - LESS THAN TWO WEEKS EVERYONE!!!!

Here are the plate, cups, and napkins we ordered.

I am going to talk about it also but not a lot. My friends that are coming have heard all about the DCL so many times from me and they know I am a fanatic :rotfl2: I am even surprised they said "Yes"" to coming in worries that I may not shut up:confused3 :upsidedow

I want to show them, that is why I am doing the videos and stuff you can do on the ship. Like the games, the food, and a break from the kids and DH when ever you want it, and to be pampered i.e room cleaned, beds made, food cooked, dishes done,.... dancing, fun adult and family games, the shows(by the way I am going to also copy a 5 minute video of Twice Charmed to show them that the shows are as Broadway show are. I am going to make it into a game. I will have them watch it than ask them questions, like the "Seen it" game Winner gets a prize. This way they will not realize that they are being tricked:lmao:

I am going to throw DCL at them as if it is a subliminal message:lmao: they know that this is a DCL party and that since they can never come with us on a cruise I am taking them on one. I want to make it a lot of fun and pamper them (I will be doing a Mary Kay hand Spa treatment for them also) I am going to light some candles and put some spa music in the CD and then spa them :thumbsup2 )

I have made it a 50th Birthday DCL party so the DCL is hidden in the Birthday...They all are aware of how Disney my family is.

After the school year is out (about 1 week after) I take 2 of my girl friends and I treat them to a 3 day weekend stay at the GrandCalifornian(DVC member here) at Disneyland. We Rock all weekend and have a blast. We don't go into the parks we just hang and party, no kids and no husbands. We have done this the last 4 years and will continue. they for sure know I am a wacko!

We cruise every year and do WDW every other year, and we are 1+ hrs away from Disneyland so are there at least 2-3 times a year...not counting girls weekend away. Soooooo cant figure out why when I tell my friends that I am having a DCL party or Disney anything that they would be surprised :rotfl: Our house is covered with Disney art from the cruise auctions so cant help but get the Disney feel when you come into my house and look at my walls. Did I say fanatic...

I love the Chart idea :thumbsup2 I can put that out and they can look at it without me saying Disney Disney Disney. I will also put some info out about DVC.

O and to answer your question about the boat drill there was no Disney one so needed to search and also found this one funny. If I was having family's I would plan my party totally different but the girls I have invited are all funny and giggly and will need to keep the party going with stuff besides making them feel as if I am giving them a sales pitch...they would never come back again if I did that...lol

We have many parties each year...including a big pool party of about 100 and also Christmas parties and such...they are family parties. DH and I have been throwing parties for years and we also throw great kids parties( my boys friends always ask us when our next party is) and even my friends said(knowing that it is Disney the way I am) said "If your having a party, I'm there:thumbsup2 We have Alcohol at our parties but many of us don't drink very much. I like a Martini know and than but that is it, so our parties are more about fun, food and good friends! However this party there will be alcohol and DH is our designated driver...just in case.( I do have 3 friends that love there wine:laughing:

So know that I have jabberd on as if I am the one running this whole thing ...:rolleyes1

Just kinds letting you know a little more about me so when i throw idea out there you can see where I am coming from for your advice...I have gotten sooooo many good ideas from all of you....:worship: Thanks bunches keep them coming...

Tigger the plates are great! that is what I was going to order after you guys directed me to that Oriental trading. Than last night decided to change to the pirate theme. So went to Party city to see if they had anything at a good price and there I saw it...needed to look last night because of the time crunch otherwise would have got the same thing,

Here's another video I am going to add about Castaway Cay...will tell my friends to watch it because I am in it to try to find me...after they watch it I will ask if anyone could find me...when they discuss it and say no I will tell them that's because I'm not(yes my friends will laugh) and I just wanted them to see the island, than I will say okay lets go play another game and win something :thumbsup2

heres the video and it is one done as an advertisment of the island...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFfe4XJponc

I am using youtube because I don't have time to edit my tapes...so will use others. Anyway makes it more interesting because it's not just all my family:thumbsup2

If Disney was giving us a DVD to use I would use that and tell them to look for me but they arent so will make my own.

help...my guest can't see the party address or directions.

Any ideas?

did you try tech support...I gave up trying to figure it out :confused3 soem seem to get my info and others dont....and they have trouble with my URL also and getting into my page. Can they see anything? and where cant they see it on your home page???? or when you e-mail to them?

I'm feeling VERY un-Disney right now about this party. We're spending HUNDREDS of dollars to promote THEIR product. And, all they can do is 12 lousy napkins? They MUST be kidding us. Not even enough of their magazines to fill each of the 10 goodie bags?

This is an absolute embarrassment for Disney -- and, now for me.

I announced to my guests the $50 on-board credit. Not to mention the fact that I talked up the GREAT package that was coming...

I'm sooo sad and angry now, it's really taking away from the fun for me.

Tink, where are you? We could use some Pixie Dust....

Okay here is some from a tink for all of us. I have one family, I just convienced into taking a cruise, another whom just booked because of us and another two that are sitting on the fence. I was really hoping this party proved to them I was right....... We all need a :grouphug:

I just came back from a scrapbook weekend where I didn't know about all of the changes to our boxes until now. I blabbed about the OBC and other items I thought I'd raffle to friends that I had invited that have booked but not yet sailed. I feel foolish, but I also hope they don't think DCL is going to do cut backs on their cruises. It really doesn't look good for Disney to make such drastic changes after they were already listed. I'm now wondering if they added a bunch of new families to the original 1,000 and have to divvy up the goods.

I'm now wondering if they added a bunch of new families to the original 1,000 and have to divvy up the goods.

I think the # of families is about the same -- 1094 according to the Party Central page. I think they aim for 1000, figuring some people will drop out for various reasons.

Before signing up, I had read on the House Party website that most sponsors send party supplies for an average of 10 guests, so that part was not a surprise to me. It was just a surprise when the stated contents changed.

Don't forget -- the concept behind House Party is VIRAL marketing, so the expectation is that we will create a lot of online buzz for our parties and generate a lot of hits to our websites and new HP accounts, regardless how many warm bodies actually show up at a party.

That's why it is going to be important for people who are having a hard time with their websites & RSVP's to get that straightened out. I am pretty sure that your guests will have to create a HP account in order to be eligible for the Guest DCL Cruise Sweepstakes.

From the HP site:

Why should my guests register for houseparty.com?

Well, if they don't register, then they won't be able to post photos and video to your party page, nor post messages on your party blog. Oh, and they won't be able to upload their own profile photo, so your guest list on your party page will look a bit weak. Besides that, the biggest reason is that registered houseparty.com partygoers have a greater chance to participate in sweepstakes and contests. You know how the saying goes: You've got to be in it, to win it!" So thank your guests for RSVPing to your party, and tell them why it's best for you AND them if they register. And don't forget to remind them that registration is FREE, and they can leave anytime they want.

Additionally, as a registered partygoer, they'll be the first to find out about upcoming events that they can host themselves, and invite YOU as a guest! How cool would that be. Give love, get love back. Awwww.

Here's the party package I ordered...it says estimated delivery date 1/24 :scared1: OMG I hope it makes it on time for the party!

It's too bad they're not getting back to some of us with solutions. I am afraid I will have guests that won't be counted because of the problems they're having with the House Party site. :sad2:

we have had lots of trouble getting our invites and responses back from the houseparty website so we finally said heck with it and called our friends and invited them. so i guess houseparty wont have record of how many guests we have.:headache:

I e-mailed them and let them know and asked if they would be going by that and also if they would be placeing my guests that have been able to register in the drawing or will they have a place to register even if they are not showing on the party site...or registered through it...

they said that there will be a place for them to go and register at the link when it comes up for the cruise drawing....

Seems not to mater to them the count of guests just the party hosts. they send everyone the same amount even if you have no guests registered. That is what the told me anyway. They dont pay as much attention to that because Hosts have people coming and going all the time. You could have 10 people reg. than only 2 show up.

I thought I'd let those who are interested know this: there are some DCL H2O products for sale on Ebay. There are some auctions with 3 pieces of H2O products and some auctions with 7 pieces of H2O products. I won an auction on Saturday and I got the items in the mail today!!! That's the fastest shipping I think I've EVER seen on ebay! I'm going to hand these out as game prizes. I think we're going to play Disney Bingo, Disney Scene It and Disney Charades. So, I'll have three winners. I just thought I'd let all of you know in case you're interested.

I am totally happy that we were selected and feel that anything "FREE" is great. I do have to say that I also feel like a fool because I've been talking up my party and how generous Disney was and the shipboard credits for guest and everything. We have several friends who are going with us or on the fence and I was hoping that credit and the party excitement would be enough to push them in that direction. It's going to be pretty lame when I can't produce any of that. With all of the prizes and favors it was more "party-like" now I fear it will definetely be more like the "time share talk" that some of my guests were leary about.
