DCL Marriage Proposal ideas from cruise veterans?

I proposed to my girlfriend on formal night with Captain Tom nearby while we were getting our picture taken in front of the Walt Disney portrait. I mentioned my idea to CApt Tom earlier in the day and he suggested that it would be a nice spot and that photographers would be there.
We took the first picture normally and started to walk away. Capt Tom had a look on his face like are you gonna do this as he knew of my intentions. I said that we should get another picture taken, then got donw on bended knee to propose. There was a large crowd and they went crazy. I was a nice night that wont be forgotten.
Capt Tom may not be so personal, but he still remembers me each cruise we go on.

Serenity Bay at CC is so beautiful w/ a special night at Palo would be perfect. Enjoy Palo somehow on that day & be sure to let the staff at Palo know what's happening. They've also helped deliver rings as part of the dessert for some people. I love the idea of the photographer capturing the moment. They will help you out.

You could always try to find an officer on the 1st day to pull aside & place a request to blow the ship's horn after proposing on the bridge. They probably wouldn't be able to tell you for sure right away but they might be able to help you w/a little Magic.

There was a great show called the perfect proposal where people proposed on DCL if anyone taped it & could share it w/ you. My favorites were the one on the bridge & the one at CC w/ a buried treasure chest w/ her ring.

So many ideas from so many romantic people..... just trust your heart on what would make her happiest & have a back up plan that you'd be just as happy w/ if plan A can't happen. Talk to the CMs. I'm sure they've helped lots of people. If it were me, I'd like to be asked in the 1st few days b/c I think I'd enjoy the cruise even more.

Congratulations! Disney Magic will make it come true.

No matter what you do, show her this thread!
Let her know how the whole DIS World is rootin' for ya!
Best wishes!

I recently heard of someone who got engaged at the beach in Florida and maybe you could amend this for Castaway Cay. The guy took a special shell from home and had the ring inside it. He suggested they go collecting shells on the beach. When she was bending down to get a shell, he secretly placed his shell on the sand. Then he pointed out "his shell" to her. Imagine how surprised she was to discover the ring inside and him down on 1 knee proposing. If you were to do this at Castaway Cay, you could arrange for a ship's photographer to capture the moment. Just think how romantic that could be?

If you change your mind and decide to do a 7day cruise instead, I don't think there could be anything more magical than proposing during the fireworks show on Pirate night! It may just be me but Disney fireworks always strike a chord--let alone what a proposal could add!!

Either way, I wish you the best of luck!! :wizard:

Just a heads up...if you request Mickey and Minnie to be present at your proposal and it is outside their "normal" appearance times (meaning you want them at a certainly place and certain time)...be preprared to pay big bucks.....we know people that got engaged back on the "secret deck" on 7. He had arranged to have Mickey and Minnie and a photographer there as well as some champagne and flowers.....Mickey and Minnie cost about $250 each for 30 minutes. He said it was well worth it. This was about 2 years ago.
