DCL limited edition pins

Hi all!

I am also a pin trader. I get many pins from CheapPins.com or eBay and then trade them in the parks. My DH thinks I'm funny, since I mostly trade with CMs. I found that most other "regular" guests were too intent on getting a "good" trade. I had someone offer to trade 5 of my pins for one of hers -- when I could have bought hers for $12 at the cart right there! OTOH, the CMs are fun to talk to and sometimes they have really fun pins on their lanyards.

On my last cruise, I did pick up one extra LE pin, since DH always has wanted to sell some of my pins on eBay. Well, it went for... $12, just what I had paid. Lots of the LE pins are not as popular as they once were.

I will bring pins to trade for fun, but dont' want to get stuck with a lot of LEs!

Rae,

Drop me a pm, I MIGHT (and I stress might, I am out of town as my mom is having surgery on thursday and I'll have to check my pin book when I get home) have an extra 2003 halloween pin that i'd be glad to trade to you for your son. If I have one, it's his (I just can't remember if I do anymore).

I think it really depends on the cruise and the ship. On the 7/19/03 Magic there were no LE pins that were released, but there were no fewer than 6 or 7 LE pins available, with 3 or 4 from WDW and at least 3 from DCL including that month's Artist Choice pin. By the end of the week, only one of the DCL pins (released over a month prior) had been sold out and that was because a CM bought the last 6 or 8 of that pin to corner the market. According to the CM's, the LE pins are generally pretty easy to acquire on the Magic and much more difficult to acquire on the Wonder as there tend to be many more pin traders on the 3 and 4 day cruises than on the 7 day cruises. I think a limit of two per person at a time (like at WDW) would probably be sufficient to overcome most of the problem. Also, most people are pretty respectful when it comes to these things (though I expect, based on experience, that things like the NYE pin or NY's Day pins would be a different story because of a wider interest).

Doctor P,

Actually on the 4 day Wonder NYE cruise, there were TONS of pins left on the last night of both NYE, NY Day as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas. DCL has, as long as we have cruised with them, implmented the same 2 per person rule as WDW for LE pins. In order for someone to buy 16 pins at a shot they'd have to have 7 people with them standing in line. The only exception I saw to this was the last night of the cruise where a guy who had been there the previous 3 nights with his wife was allowed to buy her pins without her being there with him since the CM remembered the couple.

That was the way I remembered it, too, but I wasn't sure. I ended up acquiring a few more Artist Choice pins over the week by just buying one or two after my original two. Didn't feel guilty since everyone had clearly had a chance to buy the pins by the time I bought extras (actually, I bought one each for my DW and DSD and had one left over to trade if I remember right).

You got it Lisa.

Maybe it depends on what cruise you were on and what kind of people were also there, but since it happened on two Halloween Cruises in a row, that is what Rae and I have to go on.
