It's official, I'm coming too and I don't have to sneak aboard in anyone's suitcase. My parents and I were originally booked for the 30th, but after some consideration, finding cruisers we sailed with in the past and getting a better deal for the 23rd, we jumped ship and have decided to cruise with all of you!

Will post more in a while once I catch up and finish unpacking from my 4-nights on the Wonder last week.

Cheers!

Jennifer

Jennifer - that's so cool . Hope you can come over to Victoria for a few days before or after and see some of the sights. Say hi to your Mom and Dad for us :wave2:

Thanks Wendy! Haven't made any definite plans yet but we are thinking of coming out a few days early and then spending a few days at DL after. I'll tell mom you said hello. Dad is probably lurking on here and will see your message. lol

Hello from OOB. A little more southern than you. Not sure if I'd even consider you southern Maine but for us, most everythng else is 'up north'. Except the county. That's a whole separate story. ;)

Let me welcome you too! It will be fun to cruise with folks from "home". Maybe between now and August 2011 we can meet and get acquainted so we knew each other by the time we get on board.

Nancy

Sounds like fun. Can't meet at the Village Inn for clams though, they closed about 2 years ago. It's changed hands and is now Jimmy the Greeks. Great brick oven pizza!

Cheers!

Jennifer

Well, I have read through the entire thread.

I am so excited about this cruise.

My DS, Matt, is not too happy about the weather. He would like to go someplace warm. Before our Magic cruise in August, we went to Cocoa beach.
The waves were about 10ft due to the hurricane. We went body surfing.

We have some friends that will be joining us on this cruise:banana:

This will be our 3rd cruise on DCL. We are addicted, too.

Hello, my name is Erik and I am an addict. My vices are known on the street as the Magic and Wonder. Can I get a sponsor from the crowd?

Cannot wait until the spring -- over a year from now -- when the first Alaska cruise reports come back into the boards.

Glad to hear you have booked. One necker at the top of the packing list.

How are the centenary celebrations going?

We have been fairly hectic so far, with our District Gang Show the other week and preparing for our first camp of the year next weekend.

How are the centenary celebrations going?

We had our Klondike on January 30 weekend. Matt finished his requirements for First Class. We made sure to get him the special rank badge with the centennial verbiage around the border. :thumbsup2 Then in February we did Scout Ski Day and he earned the Winter Sports merit badge. Coming up, he is going to the Food Fest weekend at a local camp and they have 100 Scouts going through cooking merit badge. And then around Easter we are going to the regional air museum to do Space Exploration. Just a typical quarter for us, pretty dull. :confused3

The biggest thing we are doing for the centenary so far is working on the Pathfinder Merit Badge, one of the originals, that was brought back for this year only. It has such topics as knowing where the local fire pump wagon is and what kind of livestock are at the nearest five farms.

We are also working on the ribbons for the patch I gave you in August. Did you fulfill any of the requirements? I can bring you the ribbons. Just last month, I finished Achievement, and I am working on the other four.

Also, we are heading to the Centennial Rondez Vous. Matt's best friend is going to the National Jambo, but we could not attend. The Rondez Vous is a smaller local version with maybe 10,000 Scouts instead of 100,000.

Also, our Great Lakes Council is hosting the recreational vehicle that drove to every single council HQ in the USA. http://www.acenturyofvalues.org/
I know most of the people who have traded out seats in it, but I could not arrange time away to pull a two to four week shift myself. They hit 300 BSA regional HQ offices over 45,000 miles of driving in one year, and presented a mural to each office.

Hi All! I am "Maine Jennifer's :hippie:" Dad and am no longer lurking in the background as was in one of her post here. Came on board Dis Boards so I can put my two cents worth in from time to time. My wife Jeanette and myself Everett are very much looking forward to this cruise. It will be good to see all of you again that we met through our daughter's friends on the Dis Boards on our 2008 Panama Canal Cruise.

Hi Dan!

Thanks for the welcome. Saw you post to our daughter about walking on Pine Point Beach. There is a nice walking path accross the marsh just before the the nature place on route 9. That is where I like to walk as there is much to see. Jenny Beth II our sailboat is just around the corner from the Pine Point Beach up the Scarborough River over by the Lobster Co-op.

Thanks for the welcome. What is the snow like up your way this year. I use to live in Toledo, OH for a number of years and remember some of the wihter we had out there. This year is a dud for snow for us in southern Maine.

Glad you decided to join up! We will definitely have to get together sometime before this cruise happens......... We have walked on that path you mentioned but not all the way. As I recall one of us needed facilities & there are none on the trail. The start of last summer was so bad that we didn't get down there as much as we'd like. We walked the beach in mid January after a game at Biddeford Ice Arena - that was nice! Our other favorite beach is York.

Thanks for the welcome. What is the snow like up your way this year. I use to live in Toledo, OH for a number of years and remember some of the wihter we had out there. This year is a dud for snow for us in southern Maine.

We live about 40 minutes north of Toledo. We have gotten a lot of snow this year. About 20 inches or more this month alone. We have done a lot of sledding and snow boarding. We have a hill near us that use to be a ski hill. They closed it about 15 years ago. You are allowed to sled on it now. Pretty much anything goes. The bad part is that you have to walk up the hill. It can be pretty tiring.
Erik and Matt even went skiing with scouts.

My kids loved it because they got 3 snow days this month.
They had a wed and Thursday snow day followed by Friday-Tuesday off for Winter break.

The following week the had Monday off and missed Thursday and Friday because they had the flu.

It has been in the mid 30's for the last few days. Suppose to be near 50 over the weekend. The snow is slowly melting.

I would of thought that Maine would of gotten a lot of snow with all the winter storm on the east coast this year.
