Haven't thought about transfers -

the only thing thought about was we might spend sometime around DL before since my uncle lives 10 min from DL

one thought I had was to take train from Fullerton all the way up - might be an interesting couple of days

That's my plan, train from SB to Seattle, couple days there, train to Vancouver a day or so before sailing, then fly home

Our plan is to Fly into Vancouver. Have a blast on the cruise! Then drive from Vancouver to Calgary enjoying the sites along the way. Finally, fly home from Calgary. Hopefully, all the plans will come together!:worship:

Awesome plan, if you have the time. The Rockies are beautiful in the summer.

Welcome aboard! I have added you to the first post.

Right now my plans for this cruise are not that elaborate -- probably just to fly into Vancouver early on the Saturday before and spend a few days there, flying out the day the cruise gets back . . .

Welcome! One of my DDs will also be 15 on this cruise (the other will be 13), and it looks like we've got a lot of teenagers on this meet thread already. Should be fun for them, and for us!

We're with you on driving north, but we're going to start in Portland because we did the CA trip (San Francisco to San Diego with of course a stop at Disneyland) a few years ago. Never been to that part of the country, so I'm really excited!

Hello!
we did a mammoth California/Nevada/Arizona drive-fest a couple of years ago. We started in San Fran, and did a big teardrop back to San Fran, went as far south as Newport Beach in Cali, athough i suppose Phoenix or Palm Springs were technically further, but you get what i mean!:)

Our plans are very embrionic at the present, dont know if we wil start further up, our dilemma is that I like the sun, and would like a little of it before we cruise to Alaska, which is more my husbands thing! I am only in because it is Disney:love:
I did suggest driving across Canada , but DH reacons it will be too far:laughing: Maybe fly? really dont know yet! We will spend some time in Vancouver either before or after the cruise. we have been there before and we fell in love with it...almost considered emigration..:)
so much to think about,....so little time to do it...no...wait...SO MUCH time to do it!:lmao:

now we are many...any thoughts on logo? catchy name? Fe's ? Dis meet?
Am i getting ahead of myself?:lmao:

I think it is a little too early for the FE and Dismeet planning, since so many will join closer to time, BUT it is never too early for a catchy name and logo!

My DD will be 15 as well. My DS will be 16 almost 17.

You might want to start in San Francisco. If you start in Portland you'll miss two of the best natural attractions that the US West Coast has to offer. The California Redwoods and the Oregon Coast. Both well worth the time. Such a beautiful drive. The Seal Lion caves on the coast of Oregon are lots of fun to see.

Fly into Calgary, Alberta and drive to the West Coast. The Rockies (Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise and Columbia Icefields) are a must see. Also, Drumheller about 1 or so East out of Calgary has the Royal Truell (sp?) Dinosaur Museum. If you want heat head a bit south after the Rockies to Pentiction and Kelowna (still within BC) and then up to Vancouver.

We did the California Redwoods when we were in San Francisco (drove north before turning the car around and driving south) but your point about the Oregon Coast is well taken. Is it possible to explore the coast from Portland as a day trip or with an overnight?

Not sure about a day trip, but definitely an overnight or two, depending how much you want to see or do.

I forgot about the Oregon sand dunes - that is a really fun place. We did a dune buggy ride out onto the dunes - the kids thought that was really cool.

The Seal Lion caves and the sand dunes are fairly close to the California border.

Also, the Oregon Caves. Can't remember exactly where they are on the coast - it's been quite a few years since I was there last. We didn't go on the trip with the kids as they were too young at the time to do the caves. They take you on a tour inside the caves and there are lots of stalagmites (sp?) and such that are really something to see.

my daughter will be 20 by this cruise

I don't have a creative bone in my body but for the logo thinking something with Donald Duck might be cute

have a great weekend

Good morning, Alaska planners!:goodvibes Wendy, I just wanted to say again how wonderful it is to have you with us - you are a fount of wisdom!:)

Hi All, Maza's DH here. Here's a first attempt at a name for the cruise. I don't think it is quite there yet, but lets see what everyone else can make from it.
