"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Oh wouldn't that be nice! (the storage, not necessarily the shopping..). I'm pretty bored wearing all the same old stuff, so maybe I'll look on the clearance racks at REI....planning ahead for next fall/winter. Right?

I really have no choice now do I...... yep, at least I'll get to use it after the trip. The other good news is that we have two weddings to go to in the fall, so I'll get to buy one nice dress and bring it with me. I'll probably wear it to Palo, as most likely, the rest of my "new" wardrobe will consist of jeans or khakis......

Mine still says GTY  Maybe eventually we will have a room. I might see you at the laundry facilities...I started my list last night and boy....it's long. And I've only done the list for our toddler!

We've always managed with a large suitcase and a small suitcase plus garment bag. But with the extra layering clothes and jackets and such I think we're going to bite the bullet and get another large suitcase. Still aiming to stick to three bags, but I'll probably bring a duffel too for souvies like you.

:thumbsup2

Don't for get all the camera stuff, binoculars, and toys for the toddler that get to be in the carryons!

A DRESS????? :scared1: Prepare to have cold legs or not go outside....as I know no nylons will be in that suitcase...

I wish we could do that!!! We'll be away from home a total of 18 days for this cruise, so we're going to need LOTS of stuff. Plus all of the cold weather gear, I think 5 for 4 people is going to be a bit tight, now that I think of it.... We did 6 last year when on the Med, we were gone about the same amount of time, but the clothes required didn't change due to climate change like this one. We did laundry twice on the Magic even then!!!!! We ended up going home with 8 bags!!!! I ALWAYS pack empty bags to bring home. Last time they had a REALLY nice rolling duffel(carry on size) for sale in the shops when we were on the Dream, bought that! It's one of the ones we'll pack for the overages for on the way home

I like to live dangerously!!!! Hey, my wardrobe is going to take a serious hit here, as I don't want to buy too much new stuff. So what I can use again is what's being bought, so I'll be cold or I'll buy tights, definitely not nylons!!!!!

This is what I was saying...I saw that pile in the hotel! :rotfl::rotfl:

The weather in Seattle won't be bad, even Mt. Ranier might be decent. And I'm kidding a bit about the weather here. In August it's usually in the 70's.

Ok, tights are a good compromise. I like Nordstroms or, believe it or not, Kohl's. Not that I wear them often.

I'm reading thru one of the trip reports as I'm sitting here multi tasking. It's the one with Carol and the waves..

Hey don't make fun of my luggage pile!!!! We are 4 you know!!! With a cranky, clothes horse teenager!!!!! I'm more worried about the Alaska weather... I figured we need shorts and stuff for our time in Seattle and Vancouver before the cruise, but long pants and layers for Alaska.

She's a sweet girl!

Good plan...you'll need a light sweater for the Seattle evenings.

You're time is coming!!!! You don't live with her!!!! This morning to give you an example, she wore her "favorite" outfit on Sunday. Hadn't washed it, just put it in her hamper. This morning after getting dressed comes down in that DIRTY, SMELLY "favorite" outfit. I send her upstairs to change before the bus, she proceeded to put on clean clothes over said "favorite" outfit, which she removed in the garage and threw the clean ones on the DIRTY garage floor. She's so grounded when she gets home!!!!!!

Just make her do all the laundry as punishment....???

Seriously! I haven't even gotten to the adult packing list yet. We have....camera backpack, other backpack (which also holds the laptop and doubles as a diaper bag and emergency kit storage), plus all of our clothes and coats and garment bag and...and....there are only 2 1/2 of us!!!

She just discovered crayons, so I think we are going to get some washables and a big pad of paper for the carry on. Between that, the laptop, a few books, blankie and her lovey toy I think we will be ok. Plus, now DH keeps dropping iPad hints.....so we may have one of those in tow as well. All I can say is he better get his bonus soon so we can pay for all of this stuff :scared1:

At least the baby's clothes are small....I can only imagine what packing is going to be like when she's bigger. Or when she starts deciding what SHE wants to bring lol

Link? I need somethink else to help me avoid working today ;)

I happened to log onto DCL's site this am...I booked a GTY room and it's been assigned. I booked a 9A and got a 9A. My travel agent's site isn't showing it yet, but if any of you have gty status, you might want to log in and take a look.

We have our room number too. it is 7130. We have never stayed on this side of the ship and it is way in the back

I am at work...2 hours to go....sigh.

When we got all that new luggage for last summer I made sure to go with the lightest stuff I could get, and the duffels (one in particular), just really seem to absorb that weight well. I've NEVER gotten the Eagle Creek one over 40 pounds! The other one was a Costco special (a sampsonite, I think), that is equally as good, but a bit heavier from the get-go.

At this rate, we're never going to have to pack up our winter stuff. I'll just wash it and then pack!

I have started packing as I am putting winter stuff away. :woohoo: There is only two of us and 4 suit cases are not going to be enough. Sweaters and jackets take up a lot more room. :scared1:

Great idea packing empty bags. I have marked off dress cloths for this cruise due to space.

What is winter stuff? Closed toed shoes? ;)

We Florida peeps are lucky to have gone skiing a few years ago, we actually have appropriate gear for this trip lol. My other winter jacket is a hoodie! You will know which one is me and which one is Sarah - she'll be in shorts and a t-shirt, and I'll be all bundled up with chattering teeth!
