"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Hi all,

Spent most of today doing every one's taxes!!!! Fun fun, Day started out very cloudy. Sun did finally come out and I had to sit in it!!! I am so tired of paying the IRS!!!!! Ugh. Bu I guess I should be grateful to have jobs to have the money to pay them......:headache:

Me too. My only alternative is to have more kids, but at my age...:scared1: I would rather pay IRS:thumbsup2

That's what did us in. We lost a dependent and their tuition!!! the last two years. But you are right, much cheaper than more kids...

We're celebrating our 40th birthdays in July, and planned this cruise to celebrate. We would have gone in July, but it was a lot more expensive than waiting until this cruise.

But at the rate we're going, we may not make it. In the past month, our air conditioner has broken, our heater has broken, our house got flooded when a pipe broke, we've had to bring in an electrician to fix a ceiling fan, the struts on my wife's car gave out, and the brake light on my car just fell out.

We're pricing ac and heating systems right now, and when you've got upstairs and downstairs units, you're looking at 15k to replace them. This is what happens when your house gets 14 years old, I guess.

I just hope the roof holds out....

pixie dust for you :wizard: We contemplated the same thing because of our DD wedding in Oct and then we thought we need the vacation before!!!

Ian and I will be doing the late dining as well - he doesn't let that stop him from eating as much food as possible. The first cruise we went on, we went to palo's on pirate night (early, around 6pm) and because he didn't want to miss THAT special dinner, we went down to eat again at our dining rotation and THEN he wanted to sample the pirate buffet. I don't know how he does it!

We're not officially celebrating anything though i suppose it'll be 2 years that he and I have been together just after this vacation. My how time flies :)

We love late dining!!! Have to have a snack mid afternoon:rotfl: Love me some chicken fingers!!!

I did early once, did eat less !!!!

Late works for us too. Our schedule is show/ dinner /bar. We have been known to be the last out of the dinning room because we are having so much fun. :lmao: They would have a mutany if they got rid of the chicken fingers. :rotfl2:

Go Cats!! (I am actually a university of Louisvlle fan but am glad one of the Ky teams made the final 4)

In one day,

Character breakfast
Palo brunch
Palo dinner (5:45?)
Late dining for kids.

We were stuffed!

WOW Palo brunch and dinner in one day how great was that. :thumbsup2 That is a lot of food. I usually eat so much at palo brunch that I am stuffed for the whole day. I love the food. This time I am going to start with desert first!

We did not originally have plans for brunch. It was "pixie dusted" to us. Could not refuse.

Anyone else booking Amtrak?

I have been going crazy with the darn passports. We are a group of 17 and not everyone has a passport..yet. So Amtrak will not let you pay for your ticket until you do. Not to mention that the passport numbers and expiration dates have been trickling in.:headache:

 Well got that off my chest. Now I can return to some postive vibes...shore excursions!:thumbsup2

Have you looked into the quick shuttle from Seattle?

This has to be the quietest group I have ever cruised with. Am I the only one excited and ramping up on the planning?:confused3

Childrens passports are good for 5 years....if you aren't planning on going oversees than by all means get a card. The process is a bit crazy for me to only get a card....I figure I'll have the book if we need it kind of a thing. I would also call your post office and make sure you don't need an appointment. They might also have certain hours for passport application. Both you and Dad need to be present as well. Gives me a headache just thinking about it...argh Good luck

I was told Disney will not accept the passport cards, the kids have to have a full one. Makes no sense to me and conflicts with what the passport site says but I've asked the question of them 3 times and got the same answer. It also matches what the cruise docs says so...have to get them for the E's! I won't do it till May or June 1st ish though since the kids passports are only good for 5 years, I'd like to make sure they last as long as possible in case of school year travel.

Ok, thanks for the advice....think we'll go the traditional passport booklet route. I'll definitely call before we head up!

We used priceline. The flight times are not the best but there is only 1 stop from Louisville KY to Vancouver for $400 but that was several weeks ago. I was wondering if Sarah was going on this trip good thing she will notburn. :lmao::rotfl2:

I will check out priceline. Our quotes were around $700 each, free for the baby. And lol on the Sarah comment! :lmao:

Hey! Just because it's Alaska doesn't mean that I won't burn. :) This is me we're talking about, I have ways of managing strange geometric patterns when i burn...i'm sure i'll find a way to burn when i'm not in the tropics...hell i do it at home!

:rotfl2:

Oh noes! Sounds like our week....our roof did NOT hold out. Neither did the cooling system in my car. Here's hoping you don't have any more surprises. Must have sushi in Vancouver!

I bet it will get more hopping in the next few months. I've become a big slacker on the boards - used to be here all the time and now I'm like....oh, yeah, haven't checked for about two months....oops...

Plus, Sarah and Ian are going to be visiting us in FL in a few weeks here, and we are bound to start the process of what I like to refer to as:

PLANNING OVERDRIVE.

Wheeee!

I think we just have to figure out what we are going to do in Juneau. We are going to do the railroad in Skgaway through DCL and in Ketchikan we are going to do the DUCK tour and just explore the town. I can't decide if we should go whale watching or just explore on our own in Juneau. In reality it will probably come down to how much my lovely boiler ends up costing! We are new to DCL so we can't book excursions until June so that will play a part too. My husband is finally home for more than 3 days so we are going to plan our road trip to and from Vancouver in the next week. I love planning almost as much as going which is strange since we are a very go with the flow family. As long as I'm on holidays or planning a holiday I seem to be good :cool1:

I agree very quiet group. I can't stop researching Vancouver and looking at food porn...LOL We are new to DCL and I just can't wait! I am also waiting to get our room number still....PIF!!! Yeah! Trying to save for everything else but that's ok. Since we are new I can't book excursions and such until June 9th....bummer....I hope everything's not taken by then. I really hope we can do Palo as well! Looks to die for! We live in PA and are awaiting more rain and snow..AHHHH! :scared1:Can't wait till Spring! Then Summer Then Alaska!!!!!:dogdance:

I know!!!! Maybe since Alaska is so new to all we have no idea what to say.

I just can't wait to go!!!
