"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Good luck Mindy!!! I'll email you Susan about our availability! I think I need a whole new wardrobe for this trip!

Thanks....I'm glad we came up with one date that worked for all. Going to Susan's is going to work out infinitely better for us, since perhaps we'll be able to stay on track with our dieting....

Hi everyone!

I am finally trying to plan our trip. We just got our plane tickets booked. We're flying into Seattle on 8/20 and flying out of Seattle on 8/31.

I have planned the following thus far:

We will take light rail from the airport to downtown Seattle. Saturday and Sunday night we will stay at the Courtyard Seattle Downtown/Pioneer Square. Monday morning we will take the Amtrak Cascade train to Vancouver where we will stay at the Pan Pacific Monday night.

After the cruise we will take the train back to Seattle, I think we'll stay at the Courtyard by the airport on Tuesday night, then fly home on Wednesday morning. We don't want to rent a car, so we will be relying on cabs and public transportation.

Any comments (good or bad) on my plan?

Thanks! :)

Krista

Y'all are having fun without me again, aren't you?

Sorry Kim - it won't be as fun without you, but don't worry...I probably won't be able to eat anything since we're being very strict on this diet...hey can you believe that I actually cheated today...I had an extra pickle spear....OMG...see mind set has changed already...can't say I don't want all the other stuff, but we're managing....maybe by Thanksgiving I can be the svelte person of my 20's again - before you and even Jim knew me :worship:

Very similar to what we are doing. We are flying in on Saturday, staying at the Quality Inn & Suites Seattle Center. We are taking Amtrak on Sunday to Vanvouver and staying at the Ramada Downtown. After the cruise we are taking the "Quick Shuttle" back to Seattle and staying at the Comfort Suites Airport (located next to "Family Fun." We fly out on the 31st as well.

Now we chose Quality Inn becasue they have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel for a fee. Thay also have free breakfast and a pool. The Comfort Suites has an indoor pool, free breakfast and a free shuttle. The Ramada just has free breakfast and was not far from the light rail station and close to sushi.

Your plan sounds good to me!

What kind of diet are you on?

Shan,

We are trying Take Shape for Life (which uses Medifast for it's food). I have to say it's working. I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself before a week, but I had to sneak a look. I'm up to 6 lbs and I've only been on since Wednesday. Apparently they work with you to get it off fast and then ease you into exercise and regular food towards the end so that you can maintain it. They said after the first week I'd be so excited I would continue, even though I hate the food and so far they're right.

Wow 6 lbs since Wednesday! I am so very proud of you! Diets are hard! I gained 20 pounds in the last two years since I quit smoking and they are stuck and refuse to budge off my waist and thighs!!!! Argh! Yuck! I wish you all the best of luck on your weight loss quest! Positive thoughts and determination help....You can do it!!!!!

Thanks - I wish I only had 20 to lose. ;)

Oh, and brush your teeth after dinner. Curbs the snacking urge (at least for me)!

Thanks Kim...I'll try it, but I can only eat the prepackaged meals....last night I had dinner (courtesy of my in house chef...LOL) and then I still had 2 meals to eat....and you have to eat them all...so I don't have that issue for snacking....my trick it to go upstairs to my room when I'm done eating...keeps me away from the kitchen.

I'm going!!!!!!!!! I wish I could update you on our plans but we can't do any reservations for excursions and palo etc until June 6th argh!!! By that time everything will be taken....this is our first Disney cruise. We also have a GTY cabin and don't have a room number as of yet.

We are staying at the Sheraton Wall center three nights before we leave on the boat. We are hoping to do the Cap bridge, china town, and Granville Island, and of course Stanley Park. We have a 10 and 8 year old and they are so excited!

You have no worries. There will be plenty. They do not list all spots at once.

We are staing two days in Vancouver and a half a day in Seattle before the cruise and a half day in Seattle after the cruise. I have spent the whole weekend searching private tours in Alaska. I found an awesome Whale watching one and they will take us to Mendenhall park as well. Trying to get my other family members to get off their duffs and decided is a tad bit frustrating. I was not going to do the whale watching, but I keep reading posts where people say that is the one thing they wished they had done. I'm caving to peer or forum pressure;)

I think I have most ports done, but Skagway. I really wanted to rent a car and drive to Emerald lake and the Yukon. I also wanted to find a place that does a salmon bake. Still searching there.

Josh Groban is in Vancover on the 30th!!!! I so want to go but so expensive!!!

Really? they don't release everything at once????? OOooooooh that's great news! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and let everyone know what happens in June.

Oh and all I have to say to everyone that has more than 35 to loose....HCG.....very hard diet for the first three days or so but I lost 26 pounds in 34 days....it works...I've tried everything and this is the only thing that I will swear by. My last 20 pounds is sticking to by tush for better or worse...or it just wants to see Alaska too...:)
