"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Hi Everyone,

Although we are not going with you anymore I thought I would pop by and tell you that my DD(7) had a class field trip today Dog sledding. She LOVED it. I know many are still deciding on excursions so I thought I would let you know that it would certainly be a hit with kids! Enjoy your planning and cruise!

How was the Jimmy B Concert?
I liked that T shirt you were wearing.
Busy day today. First thing this morning had to go to the dentist and had a cavity filled and got another crown. In 4 wks I get the perminent crown.
Im glad we have dental coverage. It was an $1,800 visit.
Nancy Dad will be spending at least another night in hospital.

I am glad you are back to work!! Too bad they couldn't fix your golf score!!!

I wish you were able to meet us in Orlando in a couple of weeks. I am so behind I have not even started packing for WDW yet. I need to get my summer things out and make sure they still fit. :scared1: I still have not convinced my body that I am not a bear and do not need the extra winter weight. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

My plane leaves in 22 HOURS and I have not started packing yet :scared1:. Hoping my summer clothes fit as well.

Since I won't be back until next Wednesday, Happy Easter to all.

It was fun. It's amazing how drunk and stupid people get!!

Is Nancy's dad home?

Well, I mentioned it on facebook too, but we had to cancel. We were looking forward to it more than you know. We may end up going to Vancouver in July on a much cheaper vacation, but don't know yet. You guys have fun. On August 23rd I'll be very jealous.

I guess worlds will not collide this time :sad2:

I think you guys should try to swing a 3 or 4 day on the Dream sometime late October/early November-ish. Hubby and I are going to try (TRY) to squeeze in an anniversary getaway.....without the little one. If we can tear ourselves away from her for a weekend, that is. We may end up out at one of the Disney resorts instead if we chicken out - faster drive home lol

Can you tell we're first time parents? :rolleyes1

I've had drinks with oybolshoi, FatherForce and RoyalVizier....it is only right that we have a drink together too at some point! Let us know next time you're in town and we'll have to all meet up.
(oh, and it can be tea. lol)

Happy almost-Easter everyone :-)

Sad thing is I'm trying to figure out when tea is on our next trip right now. We've decided now to do the F&W festival this year for about 1/3 the cost of the Alaska cruise. Vancouver will have to wait until later.

So, last week of October we'll be down there for 4-5 days. Just sayin'.

Have a great time! We are dodging storms ths weekend. Watching a lot of movies.:surfweb:

At the risk of sounding cheap (I prefer to think I'm frugal) we have spent the past couple days going through the shore excursions. When I say we, I mean darn near everyone that is going in my group. :worship:

Am I, or should I say, are we the only ones who think the shore excursions are very expensive? We already SPLURGED on the cabin for our DH's, but seriously I was choking on the excursions.

We have decided to do it ourselves. We are either going to do private or rent a vehicle and be part of Alaska. I priced out so much stuff last night and mapped it (actually till 2a.m. this morning).

What I want to know is if anyone out there that has been to Alaska has a recommendation for "Have to see/do this"

We have children from 2 to 15 to incorporate in our planning as well.

Yes, very expensive. But luckily we are only 2! We booked the whale watching on our own. We are also doing the white pass and bike ride which is way $$ but we are going to do it any way. Dh wants to do the lumberjack so that is not a bad one. We had to put 1/2 down on the whale watching so that was paid for already and we paid our hotel ahead of time to get a cheaper rate. Cheap is my middle name:rotfl: but I love vacationing so it's not as painful as say gas right now!!!!!

Excursions are crazy! This has to be the most expensive vacation to date for us! Excursions are almost just as much as the cruise fare....but I guess most people only do Alaska once in a lifetime. I've decided to sell my right arm, my left leg is already sold to pay for gas so I figured I wouldn't be lopsided.

Happy Easter to All!

On the cruise board that is the week before ours, people have priced out certain excursions directly vs going through Disney. Some look cheaper, other's don't. My sadness is that I was not able to find the comparable independent tours that we want to do. We have five of us and what really peeves me is that for Disney, I have to pay adult prices for my 11 and 13 year olds! Whatever, I've had to pay adult prices for the dining plan at Disney since they were 10, so I guess I'm used to "taking it"!

Anywho, I would love to see if others have found better prices. We are specifically looking for cheaper than $176 for the klondike gold dredge/whitepass railway in Skagway; $199 for the best of Juneau; and $(ouch) 359 for the Misty Fjords and floatplane adventure in Ketchikan. (I did see a floatplane, but it did not include what Disney's did)

Maybe when people start coming back we will have some good info.
