I posted on the wedding forum but figured I would try here too :)

I am having a DFTW and we are spending a week down enjoying the parks with our families. I am looking at adding either the 4 day or the 4 day then 3 day back to back Bahamas cruises to our itinerary. Does anyone know if I can dress up for "formal night" in my gown or have a photoshoot done on the cruise ship or Castaway Cay in my wedding dress because I will still be a DFTW bride (just not a DCL bride)?

Thanks!!!!

Gosh, I am surprised no one has posted back to you. First congrats on your upcoming nuptials. :) I can't see any reason why you couldn't pack your formal wedding gown and wear it onboard the ship. They have some wonderful photo opportunities onboard during the cruise and you could probably wear it to one of the nicer "paying' restaurants like Remy's or Palo if you want to as well. You'll definitly get looks, but I doubt your get any sneers. So, it's probably whatever your comfortable with. People do have vowel renewals and get married on the Disney ships. :) I think they normally just do packages though for these folks (i.e vowel renewal, Weddings and Romance Package), but maybe they will have something that might work for what you want. Try Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding Speaclists at : 407-828-3400.

As for Castaway Cay, you'd probably want to talk to a photographer onboard for specific location shots. You could rent a Cabana that way you could easily change in and out of your wedding attire for those type of photos. They do have a nice general photo spot just off the ship on the pier that they take of you with the ship in the background though. :)

Go to Disneycruise.com, click on the 'My Cruise Plans' and you can see all the gifts that peole can get you for your cruise too. :)

Congrats! :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure that you would just get a lot of compliments and people would assume that you were just married on the ship. I think it's a great idea - I second the idea about getting a cabana for changing.

Thank you! I love the idea of doing this! Maybe we will get lucky and do two photoshoots, I did find that they are like $85 somewhere on one of these boards (CD extra of course) to do ship ones (maybe at sunset) and on CC! I love the idea of being able to change so the cabanas may be a defininte!! Thank you for the ideas and the answers! So glad that DCL won't care (I know in parks does) so it would complete the whole Disney wedding/honeymoon to get pics on the cruise! Now to decide whether to do back to back cruises or just the 4 night :) :cool1:

Girl, it is your HONEYMOON! Go for the B2B!! We're doing a 7-night on the Wonder and I only wish we had the means to go on one of the longer cruises. ;)

I think you should definitely check this first as I can just imagine DCL having rules about wearing wedding dresses if you're not on one of their packages.

I really hope not as I'd sure be happy to see a bride and groom aboard .. it just adds to the magic really.:lovestruc

Best wishes for your wedding and fingers crossed that DCL allow you free reign for photos.:thumbsup2

DCL can't forbid you from wearing your wedding dress just because you're not on their package. You can wear anything you want. They don't have to give you anything special when you wear it though.

You can wear it on formal night and have the same formal portraits taken on the ship as anyone else can. If you want a special photo shoot on Castaway or on the ship (other than the wait in line with your family, and get photo when it is your turn), they will charge you for that regardless of what you choose to wear. You can wear it and go to one of the adult only restaurants.

DO be aware that if you do a B2B, each cruise will be treated separately for their accounting purposes. The CD from one reservation will not contain photos from the other, etc....so get all the pictures you want on one of the legs.

One other option you can consider, is to call Shutters, shore side, and talk to one of the GS managers.(Guest Services 1-800-772-3470)
They can schedule you a private photo shoot, if I am not mistaken. Basically the photgrapher is yours for how ever long, and you can go where ever on the ship for your pics.

Krysssyann, I was wondering if you found out any more about this. We're thinking about going on DCL for our 5th anniversary (we had a DFTW in 2007) and I'd love to have a photo shoot in wedding gear without having to pay for the vow renewal ;)

Why not ask your DFTW planner? There may be restrictions since they offer weddings onboard. Wedding attire is not allowed in the theme parks so while you probably won't have an issue I'd check first.

Not positive about Castaway Cay, but I'm going on my honeymoon and I intend on wearing my wedding gown, and FI will be wearing his wedding clothes too. I'm not a DFTW bride, and I don't expect to have any issues.

I'm also wearing my wedding dress to MNSSHP. We're going as "a bride and groom" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Congrats, stargazertechie! I'd love it if you'd stop in when you get back and let us know if you had any issues. Hope you have an amazing trip!

Just an FYI...there are no formal nights on the 3- and 4-day cruises. They are only on 7-day and longer sailings. There is a "dress up" night, but it is semi-formal at best. As long as you would feel comfortable being the only one who is formally dressed then go for it!

Congrats to all those getting married or doing VR!

DH and I are doing our 10 yr VR next May. Since Disney charges so much to do it on Castaway Cay, we opted to get off in Nassau and go to Cabbage Beach. I found a pastor and photographer for wayyyy less than what Disney charges. I plan on getting back on the ship in my gown and doing pics and eating at Palo! I don't see it being a problem, but I am curious about getting some extra pics on the ship :)

I won't feel out of place at all :hippie:
