DCL Has Their Protocol Out!!!

MSC out of Miami's protocols:
100% testing
Vax optional
Masks needed indoors
No masks needed for certain indoor Vax only events.

Safer than DCL with the 100% testing. Maybe a little less safe with the maskless indoor Vax only shows and other events.

I have MSC and DCL booked, My adult self would prefer MSC, but my mom self feels like I should cruise on DCL for my 17-year-old who is aging out of all teen clubs. My teen says he doesn't care, but after 23 Disney cruises, I feel like we should get at least one more in before he turns 18. I have about 6 more weeks to make a decision.

Just saw that Carnival is reversing course and requiring masks indoor for all passengers ages 2+ starting 8/7
This is huge...so even on their 95% vaccinated sailings, everyone must wear masks indoors and get covid tested 3 days prior, even if you are vaccinated.

I will be surprised if DCL doesn't eventually require everyone to test. Masks are already required, but I expect that will be a part of cruise life for quite some time.

Here's the email I received today FROM CARNIVAL! We sail in September:

Please carefully review the information below regarding new, temporary testing requirements:
  • Effective with cruises departing on Saturday, August 14, 2021, we will require ALL fully vaccinated guests to produce a negative viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) taken within 3 days of their embarkation on all Carnival Cruise Line sailings. Guests who are unvaccinated will continue to follow the requirements already communicated (and as detailed below).
  • Fully vaccinated guests will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test along with proof of full vaccination upon arrival in the terminal and can then proceed on board. Please note that testing in the terminal will not be available for vaccinated guests so it’s critical that you have your negative test results with you upon your arrival. We will not be able to accommodate guests without proof of a negative test. Please check our Have Fun. Be Safe. protocols at Carnival.com for further details on testing requirements.
  • Guests who are not fully vaccinated are still required to show the negative results of a PCR test taken between 72 and 24 hours prior to the sailing date, and will be tested again in the terminal prior to boarding the ship and again within 24 hours of debarkation (for itineraries five days or longer). Unvaccinated guests approved for an exemption will continue to be charged US$150, per person, for testing, reporting and health safety screenings, and also must provide proof of travel insurance if departing from the states of Florida or Texas.
  • Children under two are exempt from testing requirements.

In addition to testing requirements, we are also making adjustments to our onboard mask policy effective with cruises beginning this Saturday, August 7, 2021, as follows:
  • First, we strongly encourage all guests to wear face masks when indoors, particularly guests who are unvaccinated including children under the age of 12 who should wear masks in public areas, except when eating or drinking.
  • All guests age 2 and older will be required to wear face masks in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino, except when eating or drinking.
  • Guests will be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the Lido Buffet area and occasionally in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate.
  • As a reminder, masks are required during embark and debark in the terminal, and masks should also be worn during the debarkation process on board.

Is this new?

Luggage
We strongly recommend all bags and luggage be checked in. All checked luggage will undergo a sanitation process. Please note: Guests 21 years of age and older are allowed to bring a maximum of 2 bottles of wine or one 6-pack of beer in their carry-on luggage. Additional alcohol beyond this limit or discovered in checked luggage will be discarded. Bringing liquors and spirits (including powdered alcohol) on board is prohibited. Learn more about boarding requirements on Embarkation Day.

I don't think so. I remember reading all of that earlier.

To clarify it was "Before Leaving Home" which was updated not "Know before you go", "Embarkation Day", "On The Ship", "Ports of Call", or "Debarkation Day".

The whole group is considered experience updates.

I know its small but important to call out as this only pertains to things prior to leaving home and nothing else.

That is really confusing. They have a “Know Before You Go” main section and a “Before Leaving Home : Know Before You Go” section.

I was scrolling through checking the dates and saw today’s date. I wish they would identify the change To make it easy to find it.

wow, that was rude.

Sorry if you took it that way.

Which is why I was calling out the sections to the experience update area. I didn't take the original post in that context but rereading it, it was posted that way.

Were you able to tell what changed?

Here is the last update I think: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/DCL-Before-You-Leave-US-20210723.pdf

Addition:
Section: Voluntarily Choose to Provide Proof of a COVID-19 Vaccination
"Keep in mind, vaccinated Guests arriving from outside the United States who are required to undergo the rapid test on Embarkation Day will not be charged for the test. Additionally, travel insurance is not required for vaccinated Guests arriving from outside the United States on sailings originating in the United States."

There might be some other small change I am not seeing. None of this applies to the Fantasy as of yet so I haven't been following the smaller updates until they actually release the Fantasy information.
