I just got my statement from the Disney Visa Card and I was given a 200.00 credit on my card during our cruise. I don't know why I got this credit. I booked my cruise w/ this card months ago but did not use this card for charging on the ship...(gave a different card). Just wondering if anyone else got this during or shortly after your cruise? I'm not complaining but very curious as to why they did it. If they had overcharged us for something in the bill, DCL would have used our other VISA that was indicated.

Is there some sort of benefit for using the card that I'm not aware?

Did you have 2 staterooms? That would be the $100 per room promotion for booking with your Disney VISA.
CC

yes, cathy we did get 2 staterooms and booked long ago. I already rec'd the onboard credits while on the cruise of 50.00 each for the 2 rooms..so not sure why I got 200.00 credited to my card. Not complaining but kind of curious in case it's a mistake and next month they take it back! Wasn't aware of anymore perks than we got for using the card.

The Disney VISA promotion wasn't an onboard credit, it was a credit to your credit card, the $50 that you got could have been another promotion (first-time credit or Disney Club member??) perhaps? While it is not common for promotions to be combinable, there are some that are.

Sounds like you did well!! :)
Cathy

yeah, I guess we made out well, considering I was not expecting it! We are repeat cruisers and at the time were only told we would qualify for the 50.00 onboard credit per stateroom (that's one reason I used the card). We actually re-booked w/ you guys Cathy...

thanks for answering....

Last year we cruised DCL for the first time, and I received a credit on my card also. It was within a week or so of our cruise, and it just showed up as a credit. I called DCL and all they could tell me was that I either overpaid (which I couldn't have, as I paid in full at time of booking) or that perhaps the price had gone down, and they were refunding the difference. Even they didn't know 100% for sure.

I've booked through DU and asked if I'd get a credit for using my Disney Visa and was told since there prices are "so low" and I'm getting a $100 stateroom credit I wouldn't get any other benefit. So I wasn't going to use the Disney Visa to pay for the cruise - maybe now I will?

Yes I did re-book thru DU in order to get the full benefit of using the Disney card. At the time, was told I would only get the 50.00 onboard credits per stateroom. While on the cruise, I had to go to guest svcs 3 times to get our 50.00 credit for our 2nd stateroom. The date of the credit is the Weds of our cruise...so still not sure why? But I'll take it!

Since we booked 15 months in advance, I wasn't able to use our Disney VISA card for the deposit last year (the card didn't exist). We plan on putting our balance on the Disney VISA. I recently asked our TA (from DU) if we could qualify for the $100 onboard credit per room (we will have 2 rooms) offered by the Disney VISA, but she didn't think that it could be used together with our other onboard credits. I didn't realize that VISA was offering a balance credit (vs an onboard credit) - did you also put your deposit on the Disney VISA???

Our cruise last year was before the Disney Visa, so it was DCL that refunded part of the charge for the cruise, I guess because the price had gone down.
I booked this years' cruise before the Disney Visa also, and decided not to try to switch my balance over to it because I'd read that alot of people here had trouble doing it. And also, we already had onboard credit for being a large "group", so I wasn't sure I could get any more onboard credits. As it turns out, I am only eligible for one DCL credit. I did start using the Disney card for all other charges, and will use it onboard to build credit for the next trip.
Visa isn't offering any balance credits....the only credit you'd get on your Visa would be directly from DCL, and that would only be if the price went down (and that's a big IF) or a shore excursion got cancelled by DCL.

Okay, here are all my details so you guys can figure out if this might be similar to your situation....

We booked our 3rd cruise 2 yrs ago for 7/19/03. I used my regular c.card for the deposit back in 2001 because the Disney Visa was not out yet. Then a few months ago when the card came out I rebooked thru DU and had them transfer everything over to the card at which time they credited my original card used w/ the deposit amt. I was told that I would qualify for 2/ 50.00 stateroom credits since we were getting 2 rooms. I also got the Disney dollars for the trip charge. I was not aware of any other perks and then on my statement there shows a 200.00 credit done on 7/23 (which was mid week of our cruise). When I called the Disney Visa company they said the credit was from DCL so I would have to call them directly if I wanted more info on the credit. I am not aware of overpaying and we didn't have any excursions cancelled. Also, we did not authorize our Disney Visa to be used during our cruise so I don't think it had to do w/ anything during the cruise. Am afraid to call in case it's a mistake...but then again maybe I should because they will eventually find it. I recently checked the guideline for the Disney Visa card and nowhere does it say anything about a 200.00 credit...just onboard credits.

We also got a $30 per stateroom credit -appeared on our Disney Visa after our return (we cruised 7/5 and had 2 staterooms). We booked through AAA using our Disney Visa adn got $50 onboard credit per room and used lots of Disney dollars to help pay our onbaord tab. We haven't bother to calll and ask anyone. We are just accepting it and happy to have it. Joan

This had to be the same thing that happened to us last year. The most Disney could tell me was that the rates went down since we had made final payment and they were crediting me with the difference. I didn't ask if it was per person, per room, whatever. I just said "Okay" and left it at that. I'm with Joan, I wasn't going to push for a definite answer, just glad to have some money back.
It was also put onto the card that I had booked with, as opposed to the one I used onboard. And it was $200.
It wouldn't hurt to call and ask. If it is a mistake, you may be right, they might discover it later, so may as well get it over with. But I think it's probably just like what happened to us.

No I agree, the credit was a pleasant surprise and I'll take it! Doesn't happen very often....that's why the curiosity I guess...you know the saying.."if it sounds too good to be true..."

We booked our 9/25/03 cruise using our Disney Credit card(not disney visa) for one room, and our reg Visa for the other room through DU. We booked 2 rooms. 2 weeks ago we recieved a two $100 credits on the Visa. Go figure! Thanks DCL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy I'm jealous of you guys! I've been having the opposite problem w/ Disney Credit Card! They put a charge for $875 on my card that didn't belong there back in May. Every month I call, every month they take it off and sure enough every month the "computer" puts it back on. I have submitted every piece of paper they asked for, called supervisors, everything and it's still going on! They should give me a $200 credit just for the aggrevation they are causing me LOL

Just a warning to keep a close eye on those Disney Credit cards!

Wow...thanks for the heads-up! What kind of charge did they tell you it was? Disney-related, or not? I'd be furious by now.
Good luck with it!

No, it wasn't Disney related. It was for a hotel we stayed at, but the charge was supposed to go on a business account. We had to give our CC for "incidentals", ie. phone charges. The Hotel admitted right away that they were wrong and tried to credit it back. The stupid credit card company is the one that keeps putting it back on. (Even after submitting copies of the charge showing on the business account) I have a stack of paperwork trying to fix this charge. The hotel hasn't asked for payment, but the credit company keeps giving it back to them....at our expense!

Thanks for the luck! I'm totally frustrated. We have NEVER had a problem with our credit cards before. If it wasn't for the fact that this is the only program DIsney is offering right now, I would cancel this card in a second.

Back to OP, congrats on the found money! :D
